I know many of you are getting into pin trading so I wanted to do a video that helps explain a lot of the terminology used in the pin community as well as some tips and reminders when trading in the parks! (PS- I am in NO way saying I am an expert at pin trading or disney pin knowledge. I just want to try and share what I’ve learned since I started trading in March!)

Tip: Collect a variety of pins even if it’s pins that you don’t collect because other people might like them and you will be able to trade with them for the pins that you collect.
Great video as always! I think a good tip for new traders is to build connections with people on FB groups or Instagram. It’s always nice to have people to talk with about pins but also people can lookout for you and vice-versa for your DISOs and grail pins.
Major tip for new and experienced traders: Have fun and be kind. Kindness goes a long way.

Tips: always leave a few pins in your car to trade, just in case you forget your pin book at home. Take a few pictures of the pins you are looking for and keep on your phone. Be organized so you don't spend extra time looking for a pin that really isn't lost, just misplaced. Have fun pin trading and talk to pin traders everyone has knowledge, no matter how long you have been trading.😄
I second your idea of taking photos to stay organized. Especially if you’re trying to complete a set. I store a photo of the complete set in my “notes” app, and use the editing tool to cross out the pins I’ve acquired, so I’ll always know which I’m still missing. ☺️
Tip: don’t be afraid to buy mystery boxes. If you get what you don’t want it’s more to trade!
Exactly. I've got a Few Boxes and got some Doubles. That's ok cause its more to give friends or put in Trading Bag. Like any Extra Star wars pins that I already have goes to my BFF that is Obsessed with Star wars
Tip: if a cast member offers a mystery trivia, just take the chance and try to answer it. You really don’t lose anything if you get the answer wrong. You could even trade with the regular pins on their lanyard or board afterwards.
Tip: If you’re trading, always be sure to have extra pins that you're willing to trade away in case you find something neat, or be ready to buy a booster set. Have had times where there was a cool pin but there wasn't anything I had on my lanyard that I was willing to trade :')
We have been collecting for a year and still learned new things from this video! This is really good content!!!!
Our tip is to start with very specific collections. You can always add additional collections later, but it is overwhelming to see everything when you first start!

Tip: Don't be fooled by the pin lots you see on eBay or etsy. 100% tradeable doesn't mean authentic.
My tip for pin trading, if you have a bag or book that displays your pins make sure you zip them up so your pins don’t hop out! I noticed this so many times I kept walking around with my bag unzipped but was glad nothing fell out!!
Awesome Video Kris very informative for all the people starting out! You did an amazing job! Very creative. Thank you again for the trade! Best advice I can give to people who start is be friendly and never take it personal if someone tells you they don’t want to trade with you.
Excellent tips Kris! I’d say you covered a lot of what I would suggest or talk about.
I only ever bought pins (I’ve not yet traded huhu 😢) but some advice that is still applicable would be to “widen your net”. By that I mean don’t be afraid to get involved in the community and reach out to other pin traders or collectors, particularly on social media. For example if you have an IG try to find a lot of reputable traders and sellers to follow. Someone may have something you want that another might not have.
Also, another important tip: have fun!!
I think you explained Grail pin perfect. Have fun if something stresses you out about it then move on to something else somewhere else. I personally hate to trade if it is crowded at a board. Love to pin trade and the hunt to find certain pins. Shop Disney will have great discounts sales on pins if you keep watching.
Yep!! I have a Grail of Ariel that was a Disney Auction Pin and it is an LE of 100. I treasure it. It was going for 100s on eBay but I got it from a lady who was trying to get back to Disney World quickly and did a cheaper quick sale to me. So it's my Grail. 🥰
Tip: there’s pin groups on Facebook that sell authentic pins for cheaper than the parks, so you can have authentic traders for the parks.
Tip: Create a plan for what you want to collect so you don’t get overspend. I collect Tiny Kingdom pins and although its hard to find them on the boards it’s not impossible 😀
Tip: Try not to buy bulk sets of pins on eBay or amazon :( most to all are typically fake and flood the trader boards. Super unfortunate to trade a nice authentic pin for a scrapper. If you're looking to buy traders try going to The store called My D-pins and collectibles located reasonably close to the Disneyland park or visit a Disney outlet, they usually sell authentic pins super cheap !! Happy trading !
Tip: Check the resorts!! Not only are there pin boards at the parks but they are also at some of the resorts! I did most of my pin trading at the Port Orleans Resort in WDW and they had some really nice pins!!
I've heard great things about Pins at Resorts. Based on videos: I like the Selection at Port Orleans, Polynesian, the All stars and POP. Gonna check all those in December

My tip is to focus on certain collections since if you want to collect everything you see, it's going to be pretty hard and pricey! 💙

Tip: Set a limit and know what you want to collect. Otherwise, you will buy everything and pins are not cheap.
What an awesome video!!! Great tips (especially Q) and clarification on pin terminology. When I first started I never knew what AP, DEC, OE, WDI meant.😅
My tip for someone who wants to start trading but doesn’t live near a Disney park is “G” to join pin trading groups. I’ve been able to grow my collection by doing some awesome trades via mail. You get to see so many traders from people nationwide..and internationally!

Tip: I wish I said no more. As mean as it sounds I’ve made trades I wasn’t totally happy with and if I could pass advice along it would be to take time to think about if you’re really willing to part with certain pins and don’t feel bad for saying “no thank you.” Trading should be fun!!!

Great video Kris! Did you mention P for pre production? The pin would have a PP on the back similar to the artist proof. There are also some pins that make it out on the market with an error. For example, I saw one yesterday on whatnot that had limited edition on the back but no number. Happy trading 😀

Awesome video! You were one of first pin channels I followed. Tip: Buy booster packs at the Disney outlets. You save a lot and get great authentic pins to trade at the parks. 💕

I totally agree about quality and not quantity, especially as you grow your collection you really can start to narrow down and get only the ones you really love for your collections! Collect what you like. Who cares if it's a scrapper or not. If you like it keep it. 😊

My tip is always tell them what you are looking for .they may have one in a drawer that they havent yet put out on the board

You explained pin trading so well! My advice would be if you can get cheap pins in the outlets then they’re good for traders. And if you aren’t sure if you want to keep or trade a pin, then don’t put it in your traders until you’re sure.

I'm still pretty new to pin trading and I want to collect Mulan and Tangled pins! My tip is to go to the Disney Character Outlets and buy either the discounted booster sets or the cheapest pins there to trade.

I loved this video! I did a similar video with pin trading lingo A-Z actually haha and some of these words I didn’t think of, so it’s so interesting to see how many words could go with each letter. So my tip is to watch my video called the abcs of pin trading to get an understanding of even more lingo. This was such a well done video, great minds think alike!

Fun video! I'm fairly new to pin trading and I collect food pins. A useful tip for me is to use Pinterest to keep track of the pins I've collected and my ISOs. ;)

Only recently started collecting myself, mostly collecting Star Wars pins, but always looking out for marvel pins I might like.
As for a tip I'd say always check the boards at random times, even if you already visited them. They change so often, so you never know if there's something new

Love the concept of this video Kris, totally helpful! 👍🏼 My tip would be: it’s good to put it out there what movies/characters you collect and ask for someone’s name and/or IG to stay connected.. That way you could keep in touch and help each other out to trading/collecting pins! Basically like networking lol 🥰

My tip would be (other than the ones posted already) to join FB groups that do pin trading! You learn alot about pins and lingo there too, and if you like me don’t live close to the parks you can still trade! Online!

I've been collecting pins since the '90's. It used to be you would find a pin or 2 in the park and mostly it was the Buttons. But then our next door neighbor brought over a few duplicates and gave them to us and said "Now you are addicted, go forth and trade pins and buy pins". Then 2000 came and the millenium pins came out and pin trading officially started. So now we generally come to the park once a year for 5 park days. And the first 2 days are almost all pin trading. But of course we check the boards each day and stop by Frontierland each Disneyland day. And of course check out Downtown Disney too. I now have about 10+ big pin bags with our collections. Our collections span Star Wars, Villians, Park Attractions (current and past), Pirates, Nightmare Before Christmas, and a lot of others. It really is a lot of fun.

Really awesome vlog! Love how simple and informative it is. So cool seeing Downtown DIsney at Disneyland as I've never been. There are some great tips posted, but I'd have to echo that being friendly, having fun, and being polite to Cast Members is the way to go! Also, if you aren't lucky enough to get to the parks often - join some FB groups to trade by mail!!

wow great haul! that Hades mask is from WDW - they have different mask HM's than the DIsney ones. Another tip - if your collections start to get out of hand, go through them and pull out the pins you maybe aren't so crazy about anymore and re-trade them! you may decide you don't want to collect certain pins anymore and trade them for ones that bring you joy now =)

My pin trading tip is to keep your energy open to engaging with other guests / CMs. I’ve made some great trades just waiting in line to see a board. And while you should *ALWAYS* be nice to CMs, I’ve been randomly “zapped” with an extra pin from them just for having a friendly conversation. So, you’ll never know. 🤷🏻♀️

My tip would be to pull out your phone To check how much a pin is worth when trading with experienced traders. Most are really cool people and won’t take advantage but Some have asked for my top pins for a booster pin.
Tip: shop disney sales, you can get pins as low as $5
I would say to have more than just a few traders so that way u always have them on hand to trade. I always end up having very few pins to trade and then I'm left with none. When you start pin trading buy pins you don’t collect so it’s easier to trade

Use your park traders and trade for better pins on the board! You can find some good ones, and I ended up bulk trading some of mine for a WDI pin! You never know what other people might like!
Booster packs at the warehouse are a great price point to get into trading. They also have authentic pins that have been price reduced that are great to pick up before you hit the parks.
Avoid Pin Lots on eBay.
Trade for joy. Trade for what will bring you joy. Or like you did today trade for one that you know will bring someone else joy.
Kinda like how you, We Disney & Cast Member Adventures all trade amongst yourselves because you’ve all picked up stuff you know someone will love.
I love the comment about Grails. What grail to you might not be for someone else.
Not all Canadian collectors collect Canadian Disney pins. But those of us who do pretty much all have the same Grail the jumbo maple 🍁 fab 5 🤣 it’s and LE of 150.
Don’t be scared about making an ISO post. There are ppl who always check others ISOs you never know You might actually have one of their big ISO’s and to you might be something you just picked up because it was a great deal and knew you could use it for trade.

Such good information in this video! Booster packs and 5 pins mystery bags are great affordable ways to get authentic Disney pins to use as traders. And Disney outlets are great to stock up on trader pins as well!
I am new to pin trading, but I want to collect pins from Hercules and A Goofy Movie (to start 😎)!
My Tip: spend the little extra money to buy authentic pins, not the fake ones on eBay that are “100% tradeable” and all that. In the long run, it will be worth it to have real and authentic pins when growing your collection!

My Tip is realize you will Never be able to collect every single pin in the world of Disney Park Pins. There are just far too many. Once anyone realizes this their wallet will thank them. Self control is also a key factor when you find yourself let's say at D23 Expo where pins are sold by the 1,000's. Buy what makes you happy, not to fill a quota.

Tips: definitely go to the pin trading events you will find a whole lot of pin traders (note some only sell at the events) but the majority do sell n trade. Also take money bc you'll def want tp buy some for trading or for ur collection. Also all the sellers take zelle venmo paypal n casapp..
Other tip have fun trading and dont be afraid to speak up if u wanna trade with someone.
Side note: collect at first what u are really into then go into sub collections ex if you love mickey ok go for mickey but if you also like just like tigger get mostly your mickey ones and once in a while get ur sub Collection one
