Just to correct. Yes they are called spotters but they dont help to lift. In every competition there are separate spotting rules. For CDC (uaap) spotters MUST "spot" , and prepare other necessary props and things needed . They don't lift they just spot whether the flyer will wobble and fall. 🙂 - also , they do guide the performers on the run. Say for example a dancer might forget what to do. or when a flyer must perform a specific stunt they use special signs and gestures so that dancers wont forget the routine.

This is true. I remember we were *required* to participate in cheerleading when I was in senior HS as extra-curricular activity. Other dances as well not just cheerleading though.
This type of cheerdancing was prepared for 1 year to perform with a lot of people as this cheerdancer are from different colleges in the Philippines some of them leave and graduate so they have to find a new member every year and also every year they come up with a new theme for their cheerdance so every performance will definitely be different all of this people train while studying in college so you can say they are pretty talented and hard working just to represent their college Their are more performance in UAAP where they only show lifts and tricks only

Cheerleading is actually a big thing here in philippines, last i think this month all of the grade 10 students (highschool) performed their own cheerdance (last mapeh performance for their school year) grade 10 cheerleading is not as fancy but it is cool to watch highschool kids do it
Fun fact: In the curriculum here in Philippines, cheer dancing is taught and in my case, we had a practical during Grade 10 where we choreographed our own dance and did basic liftings. We weren't allowed to hire people to teach us but we still did XD It was a very fun experience for me.

As a former cheerleader myself who also competed in the UAAP, doing these stunts aren't that easy. As being one of the flyers, it takes a lot of muscle control, core strength, and balance. Well I think a lot of their stunts were imitated from my team during my time (it was around 10 yrs or more than 10 yrs ago, and I'm that old now 😅). The cheerleaders of this school during my time used to be underdogs, their performance used to be like an intermission.. so glad that made a lot of improvement and much to show -- actually all cheerleaders from each university have all improved compared to more than 10 yrs ago.. hehe...

More information .. all UAAP school have cheering squad and every squad have 2 faction, Cheering Squad "Pep Squad" and Drummers Squad for NU is NUPD "National University Percussion Department" .. Pep Squad mostly do dance routine and cheering, while the drummers make Cheering Yells with drums for the school and teach other students how to cheer for their school/universities ..... you can hear them at the beginning of the video .. and last they train 3times a week or every weekdays.

When I was in college, I also took part in dancing cheer dance before. Out of more or less 20 sections, we're grateful to get the 2nd place. Haha it was really the most challenging yet most exciting and enjoyable part of my college stint. I felt so proud of it hahaha

Yes and I'm so proud of our university squad they change the standard way of cheerleadering here in the Philippines. GO FOR THE GOLD NU BULLDOGS ! And when they won for the first time in nationals they were sent as representative in world cheerleading competition and they won I think 2nd place

The concept on the latter part wasn’t about peacock or eagle, it is inspired by a mythical bird here in the Philippines called “Sarimanok”.
