as someone who has been a fan of this band for such a long time, i love how much they grow with every new era, and this song sounds so much like an amalgamation of a lot of the things they’ve released in the past. it’s such a wonderful introduction to what their album might be, and i can’t wait. absolutely love your reaction to this song! side note, the band wrote this song together and michael (the final soloist in this song/ the guitarist) actually produced this song (and it sounds like he’s produced a majority of the album as well)!
Love the song, and I'm so excited for the whole album. Mainly because they said it will be like 90% self-produced, and from their last two singles, it seems they will be really incorporating all four of their vocals. Luke's voice is heavenly (his solo album is like my favourite album ever), but I'm so excited to hear more of Michael, Calum and Ashton, especially considering how incredible they sound now.

Glad you enjoyed it - there's a lot of anticipation around this record as it's been 2 years since their last one and since then they've changed record company and management. Like a lot of artists out there, they will finally own their music etc (like what Taylor Swift and others are now doing) and will have much more control over the finished product etc. As for the meaning of the song, they've given snippets away in a couple of interviews today. Luke said "Initially it was about a romantic relationship and that simple yet universal feeling of without someone you feel like a complete mess, and with them they obviously make you complete." As for the video, Ashton said "It's trying to articulate our connection as artists. The four of us have a different perspective and different lens on how we create and why we create.....A lot of it is about how we create tension in this group and this tension creates art and that art creates the connection with our fans." When you go through 5SOS discography , you'll realise this band is all about diversity! Also, when it comes to melodies and instrumentation, I believe they are musical geniuses! I agree, that's the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard the song and watched the music video: pshychedelic. I really feel like the aesthetic and the sound of the new era and album is gonna be a mix of their 2 previous albums, like I can really hear similarities between all of them and I'm so freaking excited for the album to drop.
The very beginning sounds very much like Luke's solo album, then changes more to 5SOS, love Michaels voice, will we ever get a solo album from Michael? don't know if you have listened to Luke Hemmings debut album, I'm old(ish) and it is the best album I have heard in years
Love the 5sos reactions. If you do more reactions you have to react to their self titled album and their Sounds Good Feels Good album. Also checking out live performances is amazing as their songs hit so much harder live Self titled and SGFG were a lot more inclusive of all their vocals compared to Youngblood and Calm
so they are all is a good singer 2 of them has their solo records, u probably would like Ashton Irwin (the drummer) album. it has Rock sounds influence, please check "Greyhound" or "I'm too Blame" those 2 are my Favorite. Also he covers Nirvana song "Heart-Shaped Box"
