I love flat panel speakers. Imagine your lounge turned into the perfect entertainment area with invisible speakers. Totally out of sight. Even a hanging piece of art can double as a speaker.
A while back I found myself working with a group of younger folks. Lacking a decent set of speakers, I went about cutting snipping and taping up a couple of horns out of cardboard. Then I attached each to one driver of a disassemble headset. The gathered group seemed mystified that a cheap pair of bargain bin headsets could crank so much sound. Apparently they never saw my great grandfather's 1908 Victor Talking Machine.
a few years ago apple marketed an amplifier that used no power - it was just a plastic horn, like an ear trumpet - they wanted something crazy like US$50 for it! Lots of folks have never seen a gramophone I guess - or at least folks who buy apple lol
That's pretty cool. I bought a transducer last year and this sounds as good to me. Speaking of sound, I had to raise volume over halfway on-screen plus full-on youtube volume setting. I have not seen anybody else comment. Maybe it is just me for some reason. Anyway, a great little project there.
Hi Robert & everybody If you glue a stainless steel threded rod and some washers with nots holding togother in the end you can have the ultrasonic vibration rod to mix / sred / homogenizer materials in liquid like GRAPHITE to Graphine ( your phone generate the desire frequency amplifier do the job) I was making it back in the day when you uploaded ~ 7 years ago "Graphene From Tea" video Old subwoffer speaker was modified. Insiration worked on me thanks, now I share it.
Interesting stuff. I remember a guy who made flat panel speakers, but just the speaker onto a board. The secret is to find the proper spot on the board (Phi, or Fibonacci) and the sound would be amplified very clearly by the board. I wonder if combining both methods would yield an even better result?
Spring is near, how about we get ready for gardening! Here is an idea: a Working Ink, graphene paint-on seed sprouting mat. I have a bunches of ideas sprouting, PM if you are interested. Nice video BTW. Would there be a way to concentrate or focus the sound waves? If so, would it be possible to build a stirring plate? The idea is to use sound waves to induce motion in a beaker thereby creating a gentle stirring motion. Also, with paint on heaters. That way you can make and keep a cup of tea hot and smooth.
Would love to see some clear base sound that I could make. From studies many years ago, q is a measure of quality of the sound, a representation of the intelligence of the audio less interference.
that would be cool but as you know my thing is generation this is really an aside of something interesting - what I am interested in is when you said if you make noise would it produce electricity - well couple that with the resonance of concrete and you have a road mountable transducer - but clear bass would be awesome too!
What if you covered the board with straws? Create an area of small parallel tubes on the flat plate that should emulate some form of collimator. 50 quid says girls could hear it , but blokes not so much. To illustrate what I mean is take a bunch of drinking straws and cap them at one end with card. Place said bundle against your ear. Enjoy.
Awesome! Cymatic plate done the easy way :-D Just paint it black I guess and put an led downlight from the top with a USB cam, add drops of water and Rob is your uncle :-)
wow thats so simple i think ill have a play around with that Rob for fun. thanks Rob. i wonder if anyone in the group has played with this kind of thing and has any pointers for good sound quality. perticularily bass.
This is awesome. CONCRETE also resonates well, surprisingly. 🤔 Is the intro sound sampled from the opening credits of the infamous British sitcom called Red Dwarf?
that would make this a transducer for roads! - and no mate it's a bit of royalty free music - I am pretty careful on copyright music as youtube are harsh in their penalties if you use it
I’m sorry to have to ask but I can’t find the equivalent board here because builders board seems to be a lot of things and vinger board gives me nothing also. Center board ? Here in Holland, we should have it also but what is it used for. The board u use there? Thanks.
@@ThinkingandTinkering There was a guy in hawaii who started a company using wind produced vibrations to produce electricity for pennies, for non profits only. Got an email from him some years back. He was in popular mechanics.
speaking of speakers man why is this so incredibly quiet? I have my speakers physically cranked and the volume on my computer all the way up and I am having to keep replaying parts because I can't hear you.
I am sorry mate but that makes no sense to me - obviously it works just fine - so it clearly cannot be the 'wrong way' - what I get is that you wouldn't do it this way and that's fine by me - do it how you think is best

me too - I think current speakers are pretty ugly things tbh

I listened through - I didn't have that problem - someone else commented on a sound problem but I am not sure what you have it and I don't
Lovely job mate. My first project I actually attempted when watching you video's was a speaker from a induction coil I think it was.
that is awesome mate!
That would make a cool ceiling speaker. No grid or holes are required. Cool.
I agree mate
Awesome dyi project thanks for sharing it Robert
glad you like it mate

that is an awesome share mate - I will give it go building that for sure
Another awesome out of the box thinking.

very interesting
Really good stuff. Thank you.
cheers mate - I am glad you liked it

seed trays, sprouting mats, heating plates are good ideas for the ink mate - we did do the sound lens that might help

Yeah tech ingredients guys are plane awesome too.. Would be great if you could make a collaboration vid 🎉

I will give it a go mate lol - cheers
Take the cone off a speaker put the vibrating thing on a hollow ball like a basketball and you have an omnidirectional speaker
I'd recommend birch ply for a base.
nice one mate

Hi Robert, please let me know the plastic rod is it hollow or not? And what plastic are you using. Thank you.
Great! 👏
amazing im learning alot !

it is fun to play around with - quite a few folks no a lot more about this than me hopefully they will chip in
Cool! Guess they aren't called "acoustic tiles" for nothing :D.

Hi Rob. Could this be used to make an ultrasonic device for cleaning or for extracting proteins from organic cells?

if you are in the USA it's Sintra board mate
@@ThinkingandTinkering thanks, that helps. In Holland it must also be available. Going to make it this afternoon. :)
There are TV manufacturers using the screen for this at a very high price.
5 Beyond has 2 pack solo or stereo for $10
So if you make noise, does it produce electricity ⚡? Btw, nice commercial. 😂
if you stuck it on a bridge it would probably do ok

for some reason, I can barely hear this video, even on a speaker held to my ear.
you might want to check your speakers - or maybe your ears?
@@ThinkingandTinkering If I am the only one reporting it thing, I guess so. Lol.
🙏👍🙏
That's funny🙂🙂
Hey Grimmie! Just saying hi! Lol
cheers mate

This is absolutely the wrong way to do it. You have to attach the panel to just the voice coil and not the frame of the speaker
