Jones' 2nd contract reminds me Blake Bortles. He has 1 year where he's not complete ass and the rest of the team is good and management somehow thinks he was responsible for the teams' success.
Love reminds me of Wentz. He needs to have a coach scream "TAKE THE FUCKING SACK!" at him constantly since most his issues stem from him playing heroball as he's getting hit.
@zaneseibert even when he has a clean pocket, het could throw a completion into quintuple coverage, or he could miss a wide-open receiver and there's no telling which
Paying your quarterback and leaving running back to a committee of late-rounders on their rookie deals is, in theory, a good idea. When your quarterback is Danny Derps, that is, in practice, head-bangingly stupid. This goes double if you don't have an offensive line that can win the battle in the trenches; as a Patriots fan, all I want for draft day is an elite offensive tackle before they get Drake Maye killed.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that Gettleman drafted Daniel Jones just because he looks like Eli Manning. Not for his playing style or his stats, just his appearance
Firing Daboll makes no sense to me, in all honesty. DJ was never his pick, he vocally suggested to Schoen that they traded up however much to get Jayden Daniels (and look how well that pick has been going for Washington), and he's a coach that can hold this team accountable. We still have some elite players on both sides of the ball with Dexter Lawrence, Malik Nabers, Brian Burns, etc, so we're really not that far off from being competitive. All we need is a QB that Daboll himself actually wants there that he can develop like he did Josh Allen, and of course, bolster the line some more. Also, Tyrone Tracy turned out to be a hit of a pick, so we have our RB of the future. Run it back with Daboll and Cam Ward as the new QB and watch how much the Giants improve overnight.
@@ZedBeiFeng They picked Jones the year AFTER they drafted Saquon. They thought Eli was still good when he was clearly over the hill and didn't plan accordingly. The Giants used the no.2 overall pick on a RB when they had a rapidly declining QB in a stacked QB class.
It's thankfully the end of an era. Still , I do thank Jones for balling out in the playoff win against Minnesota. He was the best player on the field that day and he helped to end the Boat Photo curse; it was the team's first playoff win since the second Giants-Pats SB). It's not much, but I'm thankful for that 2022 season and his first game against Tampa.
Real reason. Money. Its always money. He gets hurt. He gets guaranteed money. So they benched him so he doesnt get hurt. Same exact scenario as Russell Wilson with the broncos last season
Simple. Don't allow them to ask for that clause? If you go to a game. And the people in front of you don't show up, do you get to move down? Are parking, snacks, drinks, and gear cost effective? Or do you just like to "feel" good while bent? People have pride for the most insidious tactics used against then, "the fans". Insane.
There's so many bad teams this year, we might barely get a top 5 pick And I don't think we should get rid of Daboll yet. I always believed that Gettleman sent this franchise back 5 years at the least. If we do get a quarterback let him develop him and see how it goes.
The Daniel Jones contract is bad, especially since it let us have Saquon - thanks again, btw - but it's spared from being "one of the worst" by having at least two worse ones still ongoing, when the Giants are now about to get out from under his. Remember: the Steelers are only paying Russell Wilson like 1 million; the Broncos are paying him, iirc, north of 30 million... to play for a different team. And, of course, Deshaun Weinstein's contract is still dragging the Browns into Hell for another several seasons. Y'all are almost free from this... but Saquon and McKinney must really hurt...
Tanking in November. At least 1 positive • Daniel Jones lost to Tom Brady’s Buccaneers 🏴☠️ by 2 points (failed 2PT conversion near the end of the game), 25-23 on November 2nd, 2020.
It's nonsense to give a head coach another chance just because "he didn't draft/choose the QB." He shouldn't have taken the job with an established QB then. Daboll knew if he took the Giants job that he was hitching himself to Danny No-Dimes. Schoen and Daboll have had 3 years and each year the team has gotten progressively worse, no more chances.
To be fair, the Giants have only spent 6 first round picks on QBs in their century of existence. 2 of them (so 1/3) are hall of fame level players regardless of whether or not they've actually been inducted yet (them being Simms and Eli, whom i consider the real pick even though technically it's Rivers). The other 4 are garbage. Travis Tidwell, Lee Grosscup, Dave Brown, and Daniel Jones. Meanwhile, the Giants have drafted 7 wide receivers in the first round and only 2 of them were ass. (Thomas Lewis, and Kadarius Toney). The rest (Mark Ingram Sr., Ike Hilliard, Hakeem Nicks, OBJ, and Nabers) are all names that every Giants fan should know.
Why is it that when a team is bad, everyone thinks getting a new QB will fix everything? What good will a new QB, do when your team has much bigger issues that need to be addressed?
I think it’s so sad that this years giants team, on paper, is arguably the best they’ve put together since jones was drafted. A good wr duo in nabers and wandale, a blossoming rookie rb in ttj, the best oline in years, and a solid front 7 on defense (only the secondary faced real regression). Can’t keep having a carousel of coaches and GM’s. I can’t fault Dabol or Shoen that much tbh. John Mara’s ownership, and especially Dave Gettleman set us back decades, no matter how baffling the Jones signing was in retrospect. He’s the one who drafted him, along with an assortment of draft misses over the years. Hopefully he doesn’t show his face in public in the NY/NJ area. Out of all the Joe Judge’s, McAdoos, Reese’s, Shurmers, etc., Gettleman is the most to blame out of the years of dysfunction. The fact that he got to retire on his own terms and not get fired angers me more than anything
I should've known it was all about the money with Jones being benched at this point in the season. I'm sure they know they won't win much--if at all--using Tommy DeVito at QB. The 2025 QB draft class isn't quite elite as a whole, but there are still upgrades over Jones available.
Figured it was gonna be about an injury guarantee, same as why Denver benched Russ. I don't think you should fire Dabul. He did a pretty solid job masking Danny Derps weaknesses that first year. But then defenses caught on and didn't let that smoke and mirrors work.Joe Shane gave Danny Derps that contract so he should be sent packing. Let Dabul get a QB with actual upside and give him one more year with a hopefully good GM.

Before this season, I thought Shedeur was a day 2 pick at best, and Ewers would go #1. Now, i think Sanders might be the only QB in the class worthy of a 1st round pick.
