Good morning Renae! And thank you. 👶🥰😊 I know ... right?! I was so excited to get the Hot Lips salvia, and now I'm not loving it. I hope it rebounds in the fall. If not, I don't know if I will keep it.
I am thankful Hurricane Beryl didn't decimate the coleus. I don't like how it blew them all over, but they are growing in their "new" configurations now. lol. 😂
I also left you a comment in your photo posting about this upcoming video. Glad for your new grandchild. Enjoy it! Glad to see yard is getting back to normal. We too here in Panhandle of Florida have battled with high heat as well. Heat index 105-112 for last several weeks is just too much for plants in full sun. My Cardinal climber is a complete failure hardly any blooms. Good news is my bananas love this heat and 2 have a full rack of bananas. Look forward to a cooldown and hopefully no more hurricane threats
Thank you so much! Being a grandma is a lot of fun! 🥰 That excessive heat index for week after week is so hard on most plants. My cardinal climber last summer was awful in those conditions. It wasn't robust and didn't flower as well either. The porterweed quit flowering for me until September when it started to "cool down" into the 90s. I feel for you with that high heat index. At least your bananas like it! And I'm with you ... no more hurricanes! I was wondering if Debby was going to hit the panhandle, but then I saw it went on land east of you. Did you have any effects from it? (I would so much rather be on the west side of a hurricane than the east side!).
Much happiness to you and yours on the new addition to the family exciting times 👶 Despite all the hurricane damage the garden is rebounding and looking better. Leaving the coleus laid down seems to have been a good decision. Is the bush salvia the kind that you can cut down to the ground and get regrowth? Little by little you will get the beds back to beautiful. Last year was the heat and drought this year hurricane always a challenge we’d rather not have to deal with and yet we keep gardening. One day at a time. Glad to see a video today. Happy gardening 🌺🌼💐
Thank you so much! 😊 Good question on the bush salvia. I have had it freeze above ground and then come back from the roots in the spring. But I haven't had this where it appears to be dead during the middle of the summer. I think I am going to cut a branch and see if it is dead or just dormant. And you are so right ... gardeners always encounter something don't we?! Thank you for your comment! 🥰
How wonderful!! Congrats on your new grandbaby! 💕 Yep, my salvia amistad did the same thing after Beryl. 😒 I’m having the same problem with yarrow. It was pretty for a little while in the spring, then just kinda clumpy and fern-y. Not much else! I’m so excited to see your stokes aster getting ready to bloom again! Mine is alive but showing no signs of being remotely interested in blooming again. 😅 You give me hope! So sorry about your tithonia! Such a bummer. It’s frustrating to have it not look like what you want! But to your visitors (like me 😉) your shade bed looks so pretty with so many colors and textures! Your salvia madrensis looks great! And I love your cris-cross supports! My fennel didn’t make it through August either! In other years I’ve had fennel last several years! I’m so sorry about your bed that didn’t get watered. Such a heartbreaker. Thanks so much for a great tour!!
Thank you ... I'm going up soon to see my grandson again! 👶😀 My stokes aster produced a couple of blooms and has now quit. I thought it was going to create a whole new flush of blooms. I guess I can still hope! My salvia madrensis is just starting to bloom! Yay! The yellow bloom spikes are only a couple of inches long and just starting to grow. I am so bummed about my fennel. I haven't had this happen where all of the plants just died. I counted 14 dead fennel plants. 😭
Awesome!!! I hope you like it. As you know, I just love my Porterweed in our hot and humid climate. My blue porterweed is the only porterweed that will self seed for me. This time of year is pretty tough on plants down here. But, the hummingbird migration will be starting soon! I have already seen a couple of male ruby throated hummingbirds come through.
Thank you so much! 👶😊 In my yard I have 4 cuphea plants and I have noticed location is key. The one that does the best is in full sun and gets water every day. I have it in a large glazed terra cotta container so it is raised up. I have placed that container in my "tree bed" with the salvia and lantana planted in ground. All my cuphea are in containers and all get watered every day. But that one in the tree bed just does so much better than all the rest. I have seen this pattern for the last 4 years with the cuphea. Mine don't come back well from the roots when we have frozen and they get root bound after one season in the containers, so if I keep a cuphea plant into the next season I do have to work with it in early spring. Each spring it gets new or "rejuvenated" soil and I also fertilize at that time. I have also found starting with a new plant in the spring works well too.
Thankyou so much. My cuphea are in large pots in full sun so I think my problem is not enough water. I will definitely increase that. I'm in zone 8 so I always have to start new in the spring. Thanks again 😊
Mine are definitely heavy drinkers. I currently have two different varieties ... David Verity and Vermillionaire from Proven Winners. The David Verity always grows larger and produces more blooms for me.
I have two of each. I like the Vermillionaire, but just prefer the larger size and prolific blooms of the David Verity. I can usually find them easily in the spring. If you do get one, I hope you like it too. 😊
You sure can plant Mexican Sunflower seeds now because they will be blooming for you in late October and November. We still have butterflies at that time, and they love this flower. I have read that Hot Lips Salvia doesn't flower well in the high heat of the summer, but will pick up again in the fall. I wanted Hot Lips, but now that I have had it through spring and summer, I don't know how much I like it. I will see what it does in the fall here.
Good afternoon neighbor, Lake Jackson here 😊 Congratulations 😍. You have been missed. I am loving the garden.
Good morning neighbor and thank you! I hope all is well with you. 😀👍🌺
I’ve been hoping to see a video from you soon, congratulations on your new grand baby, so exciting!
Thank you so much! 👶🥰 People would tell me being a grandma is so much fun ... and so far it has been wonderful!
Good morning Crystal. We’ve missed your videos💐🌼🌸🌺However, congratulations on your new grand baby.🥰 Hot lips, not so hot🤣 Mine either.

@@ButterfliesNBirds my brothers are grandparents and they are OBSESSED with those babies. Ha! Enjoy!
Thank you! Ha ha ... "obsessed" ... I bet you get shown a lot of pictures! 😁

I wonder why all our fennel died?!? Maybe all the July rain? Who knows!
I know - I feel really bad that I don't have any now. 😢 I wonder what caused the die off too?
I bought a porter weed! A blue porter weed. Very excited!
Frankly I’m looking forward to fall. Much of my garden is looking beaten down by this heat.

We need some rain!
I agree! We need it badly!
Congratulations on your new grand baby. 👶 I wish my cuphea looked as good as yours. How do you care for it? Thankyou 😊

Are you growing banyan trees? Wow! They do ok in the full sun?
No, I'm not growing banyan trees. I wonder what I have that looks like one? Is it my Senna Alata plant by any chance?
@@ButterfliesNBirds I don’t think so. They kind of looked like tall fig trees.
Hmmm, I'm stumped. When you see it again in a video, let me know where.
