Honestly I find it baffling how DF keeps on pusing the narrative that CP can only be enjoyed with RTX On, while constantly naming nVidia GPUs in the same sentence. This product placement is just rediculous.
It sounds like your just a bitter AMD fanboy to me. The fact is, they are just stating that RT bumps up the visuals and makes the game look far more realistic and hence adds to the immersion, than when the game is purely using rasterization. The only GPU's that are supported at the moment to use RT on Cyberpunk are Nvidia RTX cards. So obviously, they are pointing this out.
It looks great without RTX, but looking at the videos with ray tracing on just blows me away. We’re approaching film quality visuals, ray tracing is a huge and necessary step in the right direction.
100% agree with you on cp2077 being #1. On my 4K LG 65CX pushed by a rtx 3090 and i9-9900k, this game is the most beautiful, surreal, detailed, and impressive experience I’ve ever had gaming on PC. And I was around when crytek launched Crysis... 😬

just check out this comment section, people are saying CP77 has cartoon graphics, some are saying mediocre graphics. Maybe on consoles but on pc, this is the best looking game ever, period.
After finishing Cyberpunk on a 3080, I can only say this type of graphics should become the standard for open world games. In the past, we always had to endure a visual downgrade because the game is "open world".
Not really if you watch DF's best graphics videos from previous years and see the what games are in the 1st place. 2019 was Metro Exodus and Death Stranding. 2018 was Red Dead 2. 2017 was Horizon Zero Down. All open world games.
@@weaverquest None of those games have the sheer scale and density of Night City. HZD and RDR2 were games made specifically for consoles. The fun part about Cyberpunk is a lot of it's visuals don't come from post processing they come from the structures and world building. Put it on low and it still looks amazing assuming you're running at 60fps.
If you agree that video game graphic will eventually look as good as CGI movies someday, then raytracing is your answer. Any best CGI you've seen has been rendered with raytracing. Rasterizing is something you do to try to fake it when you don't have enough hardware power. If game graphic is to progress further into the level of CGI, rasterizing will have to go to the dumpster of history at some point. And it seems that some point is now. The earliest "rtx" games don't look impressive because the graphic is still rasterizing at the core, raytracing is only used in a few minor effects.
Thanks for all the consistent, in depth coverage! Your audio/visual content and editing is top notch and not just an afterthought...I appreciate that! Kudos to all involved this year!
if the game is good, it doesnt really matter the fps and resolution. I have played all the retro pc games in minumum requirement hardware (games like max payne, half life, etc.) and and I have played current games on decent hardware and I can tell you, the games I do remember are the games that I played back in the days. The games that nailed the atmosphere and the charm. Fps and resolution are just bonus which dont really matter in the end.

They're talking about rtx 2060. Cyberpunk runs at 1440p Ultra with ray tracing medium with DLSS quality runs at 45 fps or capped 30 fps and looks great.
also another point for ori: while other games have like super cool artwork and just mediocre ingame-graphics -- ori on the other hand (both: blind forest and will of the wisps) is like the most beautiful artwork of a game come to life. it's timeless and it's one of several other reasons why i love it soo much.
I was particularly impressed by the facial animations of the Mafia I - Definitive Edition. That's one Remake which was really well done and quite aesthetically pleasing.
Damn look at all the Sony exclusives they got on the list. Most of the time you'd see fanboys downplaying the quality of their exclusives, but the fact that they there's like 3 of them on Digital Foundry's list speaks so much about their first party developers. + add in the fact that 2 of these games also got to their game of the year list. Yeah Valve did an amazing job as usual and the game is very well optimized.
In the same vein as Doom 64, I'd call out the excellent work done on Command & Conquer Remastered. From using some smart upscaling of the FMV, to redoing all the unit and structure assets, it really pulls off the job of preserving the game's visual fidelity while making it compatible with modern high resolution monitors. I was thrilled to see they even preserved the immersive installation sequence from the original C&C. Can't praise the team at Petroglyph enough for their amazing work.

After finishing Cyberpunk on a 3080, I can only say this type of graphics should become the standard for open world games. In the past, we always had to endure a visual downgrade because the game is "open world".
I think we can expect this kind of graphics after stopping supporting last gen consoles
Not really if you watch DF's best graphics videos from previous years and see the what games are in the 1st place. 2019 was Metro Exodus and Death Stranding. 2018 was Red Dead 2. 2017 was Horizon Zero Down. All open world games.

Game: *enables Raytracing*
DF: "I will give you all my love!"
Almost not even a joke when Miles Morales is higher than TLoU2.

Dude you can run the game fine on a $300-$400 GPU. It runs great at 1440p on high on my old 1080ti. Grabbing 3060ti or higher for ray traced effects starts out at $400, but without ray tracing you can easily run it midrange and some low end hardware if you wanted at acceptable frame rates.
They're talking about rtx 2060. Cyberpunk runs at 1440p Ultra with ray tracing medium with DLSS quality runs at 45 fps or capped 30 fps and looks great.
