In rehearsals it had been extremely wet with rain and both dancers had issues with slipping. I would presume the choice to wear jazz shoes with rubber soles was to help with this :) Thankfully it stayed (relatively) dry for the real performance!
From what I recall (I was in the Rhythm of My Heart number), that's exactly what happened! The first rehearsal in Parkhead was absolutely soaking wet and people was constantly falling over - thankfully it was a lovely night for the actual thing! But wearing pointe shoes would have been a bit of a struggle regardless on that floor, I think.

Why is the girl wearing jazz shoes?
They are actually ballet slippers with the top of them shaped to look like shoes. It's harder to see because they are black.
