We can join a group that is positive and can help guide us and our family on its path or we can be in negative groups (cults) that lead us astray.

The truth is that the average person who is caught up in the life of this world may not be as in tune or may not even be thinking of his/her own mortality. Church or a study group or fellowship of some sort and a local priest or attending a liturgy may be a small step towards that, kind of like preparatory school vs going to university. It can be a small step in the right direction that can eventually lead to stronger spiritual growth. It is a long and hard journey that most people are not prepared to undertake or even aware of particularly if they were not brought up in a spiritual household. Society and mainstay media pushes us so hard in the other direction and we need our own fellowship to help the average person get a start.
