I ordered my Pixel 6 on Halloween and getting it next week. Was so impressed with it that I’m switching from my iPhone 12. It’s amazing how much they were able to upgrade the Pixel in 1 year. I definitely think alot of iPhone users will switch eventually. All iPhone had was super performance and longer support over android. Now the playing field is more even with the new Tensor chip improving both performance and allowing the Pixel 6 and 6 pro longer support. Then again, I don’t care about which OS I use as long as it’s working well and lasts longer. I do like more customization though and that’s why I decided to switch after being an iPhone user mostly the last 5-6 years
@@efiu12 well it makes more sense when the iPhone 12 has hit or miss call quality and at times I’ve had Wi-Fi connection issues. So yeah I may be giving up an extra year maybe two of support. But if iPhone can’t get the basics right and it’s $130 more for the iPhone 12 than the Pixel 6, it made all the sense in the world to switch. Updates is just one important area, but if my phone can’t be reliable as a calling phone then it isn’t worth keeping in my opinion.

So far how do you feel about the slow fingerprint sensor everyone keeps commenting about? Also, even more important to me, how does it fair with livestreaming? My Pixel 4a 5G always overheats after max 10 minutes if I'm lucky and then force shutsdown. Have you seen any issues like that with the Pixel 6/6 Pro so far???
I've had mine for a few days now and like everything about it except for the Geordi from Star Trek camera visor. It's just too big and takes away from the sleekness of the phone, especially with the case.
Came from an S10+, got a 6 Pro and honestly very underwhelmed and even disappointed in many respects. Fingerprint scanner sucks. Touch to wake is unreliable. Launcher is very limiting (changed to Nova, which is fine but not ideal to have to do). Recent apps + multi window is slightly less user friendly (e.g not being able to switch multi-window apps to top/bottom easily). Adaptive theme seems like a gimmick (can't actually tell what the functional purpose is meant to be). Charging / battery life below par. Absence of good lock for Samsung devices has been noticeable for me. Screenshots are a two hand process (double tap on rear of phone helps, but slightly unreliable too). Lack of ability to switch audio outputs is very annoying for me as I do this often. Honestly, I could go on for a while. There at least a dozen more points where I feel this phone has been a downgrade for me. Camera is fun to use though, that's probably the only improvement for me so far. Not hating, just a genuine recount of my experience. Hope it improves. Do agree that this is the best value for money Android phone on the market, but is it the best? Far from it as of today.
I used a P30 Pro for about 3 years. There's a lot of things about that user interface that I'm missing right now. Especially the knocking for the screenshots and the power button. Hopefully the update coming in December will make it better
You are not downgrading in any way the pixel 6 is a great device i was using the OnePlus 9 and Galaxy S21 plus before this and I would pick the pixel 6 over those any day
It’s a shame they crippled the fingerprint sensor. I’ve read too many times that it’s unusable with a glass screen protector. What an awful decision. I wanted this to be the phone they gets me away from iOS. But this issue is a non-starter for me.
I used to be a die-hard tempered glass screen protector but since the Pixel 4, I've stopped and found that the desire of the glass protector was more out of anxeity than necessity. I have no protector on the 6 right now and it's great!
I only use a good case that protects the phone and i never have a need for a screen protector for many years with many different phones. I never had any issues with falls or anything.
I honestly miss Android 11. And Sony Xperia PRO-I has Android 11 with removable widgets. It's gotten to the point where I'm even thinking of going to Sony or even to iPhone lol
The better battery life on the Pixel 6 is no doubt down to the lower resolution display, which will make a circa 12% saving compared to the Pixel 6 Pro QHD. That 12% will likely be less due to forced 90Hz, though kept at 60Hz that 12% will remain. My fav part of the Pixel 6 Pro is the 4X zoom camera and that is a big loss by downgrading to the Pixel 6.
I have terrible experience with fingerprint scanner. It only works 90% of the time and If I put a screen protector on, the fingerprint reader is just unusable. Some people have no problem at all. Some people reports the same issues as me. I am starting to think there are different types of fingerprint sensors out there and I have got the faulty ones.
Gotta to settings -->display--> and check increase touch sensitivity. It's definitely more pocket but it i put my thumb in it from how i hold the phone in actual use, it works fine. That's how i made sure i was holding the phone when i did the initial scan.
Idk. Im still having mixed feelings about google phones it seems that last few they made were very poor in handling drops and couldnt last me a year whereas Samsung phones have stayed in good condition and even took drops and still run fine for me. Very strange.
@@MichaelDetwiler really didnt drop it. lets say on its a back pack or edge of the kitchen table? Those pixel phones arent high end and the phone was in a case. poorly made phones.
Having a lot of fun with my Pixel 6, the design of this phone is probably what the pro should have been in my personal opinion. The screen is good (great even for the price), the camera is as good as ever (the larger form factor on the sensor is my favorite thing about that new camera), the fingerprint sensor is temperamental to say the least and I would have liked what ever Samsung is using or even the old reliable capacitive one. My only major annoyances are from Android 12 and the early adopter tax associated with using the new OS. The battery has been a dream for me (turned off what's playing) and it's been a day and a half at least.
I don't know what music you are playing in the background of your video, but the barely audible female singer in it is very distracting with headphones on.
I agree with you but Android 12 needs a little love. And what I mean by that is fix a few little things and this would be the best phone on the market hands down
It's a nice phone but I need phones with a powerful GPU so I can play Dolphin emulator smoothly. Mali always gets crushed by Adreno. Check the speed tests. My Pixel 3 has a GPU on par to the Pixel 6's Mali.
These phones aren't even on display in Three shops as people aren't interested in them in the UK. Currys is the only place where they are on display. Pixel 4 XL user btw. Shame
Hmm... am I the only one that is disappointed by the camera system? I mean low light is maybe in the same ballpark as a Honor 50. The Ultrawide is really bad with uneven unsharpness in the photos and lack of details. Overall the camera system has a yellowish too warm color output.
the power button is to high up to reach easily. The fingerprint sensor is weak. The wide angle lens needs to be wider. The size should have been smaller. no sale. I ordered realme GT Neo 2 which blows this phone away on features and price
If you ignore everything else, sure it blows this phone away. Any phone is going to do a few things better than another phone. It's why each phone has a chance in the market. The 6 is a great phone. It's not a perfect phone.
indeed the s20 fe is a very good value for money, capable cameras with optical zoom somethimg the normal pixel lacks, competitive processor but costs 200-250€ less, at least in Europe
Firm believer of never buying the first series of anything. Next year's design of Google will be better in all aspects of the phone, build quality, bump, screen, glass back, etc
Hey a great idea! JUST FIX THE FINGERPRINT ON THE PIXEL 6 AND 6 PRO: The fingerprint unlock is not bad. JUST SUCKS a real nightmare at any store we create a line, cause can't unlock the phone and then can't unlock the credit card. What a mess. PS I start to regret my $ 900 should keep my old phone.
@@USArmy91222 A Pin code that is what I use from now, but if you have some other unlock with biometric, like a bank, and the other apps you want to use fingerprint set up, it's a catch 22!

Also the Bezzles are fine they're not big, have you seen the iPhone the bezzles are huge so no the Bezzles are fine you're just coming up with things to complain about as if a perfect phone exists
With adaptive battery it should get better over time. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I've had a Google phone for the last 8 years (Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, Pixel 2 XL and currently a Pixel 5). By far the biggest let down of any feature Google has ever released in "adaptive battery". It doesn't learn shit. Turn in off, turn it on, give it time to "learn" your usage or don't. It doesn't matter. Either way no difference. Most overrated "feature" ever. 🤣🤣🤣
I care more about emulation than I do about cameras in which the improvements from photos are very tiny. With emulation, the GPU you choose is going to matter a lot in a few short years. Tensor has a GPU on par to SD855.
I have the pixel 6 in seafoam Screen needs ATTENTION yes it is ok but a little on the lite side meaning cartoonish. Not really refined for a 1080p screen hence I had the old but trusty lg v60 with a 1080p panel and it was much better. Also bug issues. My pixel 6 froze up in store. I am with TMobile and it did freeze up while I was in the store the rep has the pixel 6 to and he only had an app crash problem. Next no headphone jack. Would be nice. Also power brick. Lastly why do we here in the u.s. have to wait so long if we want the pro version. Is that to sell the regular pixel 6 first then the pro later. Yes I know back up time for waiting is not good so most people say or opt for the pixel 6 and pass on the pro because of waiting. Also speaking of the pixel pro. Even the reps have not seen a pixel pro in hand. None to display in store. Wow TMobile. Anyway the pixel is a great product and very good and fast. Hopefully battery life gets better. I know it will my old v60 had an adaptive battery based on use and yes the adaptive battery got better over time. So on the pixel it will just be patient. Overall thanks for a great product and good price.
My concerns with Pixel 6: * Major: a slow in-display optical fingerprint sensor is a big step backward. Pixel phones should either stick with practical and reliable fingerprint sensor at the back, or switch to ultrasonic scanner. * Major: adding a glass back is not practical for day to day use. Pixel phones should use Aluminium back like Pixel5, or use high quality plastic. * Medium: Avoid camera bumps, or make the bumps smooth. It hurts the fingers. * Medium: Release Pixel non-pro in the smaller size, between 5.8-inch and 6.1-inch. You're competing with non-Pro iPhones. * Minor: Bring back the free photo storage with Google Photos for Pixel fans? I hope Pixel6a or Pixel7 fulfills some requests from this wishlist.
Tensor 2 if based on Exynos again should be amazing since Samsung is teaming up with AMD. Tensor is too weak. No wonder Google priced the 6 at $599. Tensor is not a 2021 flagship SoC. Don't be fooled. Wait for Tensor 2.
The Tensor 1 is based on the 2020 Exynos and Google added an extra performance core to keep it up with 2021 phones. They used a near two year old chip to save money to get to the price point. The Tensor 2 is likely based on the current Exynos, not next year's, though Google could still use the xAMD GPU if allowed by AMD. However, that is doubtful, so likely Tensor 2 will be a way behind in pure performance but with the Google magic maybe not so much for day to day stuff.
I hate when reviewers sugar coat sh!t so they can continue to get free review units. Say the Charging speed for the pixel 6 is garbage when compared to the 1+. Simple. You wanna say shower to comparable phones. Grow some balls

I've had mine for a few days now and like everything about it except for the Geordi from Star Trek camera visor. It's just too big and takes away from the sleekness of the phone, especially with the case.
My pixel 6 is getting really hot even while light usage, as surfing, using messenger etc. Did you have someone similar?
I wish it was for ~520 euro on Google Store in Germany, but its 650 instead. A bit of a difference vs 599 USD.
I'm certain that those American prices 599 is without tax while in Europe is tax included
Does the phone have wireless charging because sometimes phone charger walk or get misplaced.
Watching on my pixel 5, but 599 is a fantastic price.
I love the p5
@@boakyebb same, zero complaints so far.
That's why I nabbed up the 6
@@jenniferstewart1330 bow do you like it compared to the 5?
@@iLuseMy1v1s I like it a lot... The build quality alone for me was a huge selling point.
Does anyone have a link to a video on how to setup 'Assistant voice typing' on my Pixel 6. I just cant get it work.
Do the new pixels have astrophotography shots?
Is 9to5 really qualified to review a pixel 6? Seems a little out of his range
I love my new Pixel 6, perfect for me 🤟
Maybe you could use the magic eraser to remove the hull scarf
Is it still a good deal in the UK at £579 / $780?
ordered mine. Unfortunately, only stormy black was available.
That's what I've always gotten anyway a black phone isn't a bad choice, will be in a case anyway
I was lucky and a green showed up so I nabbed it up.
I hope next year's model has a smaller version. Would be perfect
I just got my pixel 6 pro a week ago and just realized 4x telescope camera rattle when you shake no big deal just fyi
Waiting for my pixel 6 ... Currently using a Huawei p20 pro. Hope I'm not downgrading.
I used a P30 Pro for about 3 years. There's a lot of things about that user interface that I'm missing right now. Especially the knocking for the screenshots and the power button.
Hopefully the update coming in December will make it better
@@John-nj5mc the pixel 6 has tap twice screenshot
You are not downgrading in any way the pixel 6 is a great device i was using the OnePlus 9 and Galaxy S21 plus before this and I would pick the pixel 6 over those any day
@@LOUISVILLECARDINALS I finally figured this out Thanks to someone in this post string
@@marvinbernal brave man...
I agree with Matt H I literally could not believe this was screwed up
@@marvinbernalThis sounds crazy but use a moisturizing cream on the finger you open the phone with and you won't believe the difference
Waiting on my 512gb pro..counting the days!!!!
For a difference of $300 , I can live without the 4x zoom camera. That price to performance on the Pixel 6 is outstanding.
Pixel 6 is just as good as the pro model in performance that extra 300 is not worth it
Pre ordered mine on 20 October. Delivered on 28th October, supposed to be getting the Bose 700 headphones free as I pre ordered 😂😂😂😂
I have lot of faith in AI and software meaning, phone being adopting to user's behaviour rather than user have to adopt according to the smartphone...
I had been charging with my 1+ brick but change to a type c brick and charging speed increased.
I have a oneplus3 and that is a type C connector, what o e plus model were you using?
@@rogerdutton9930 I had one for my iphone, I how have the Google
Been using the pixel 6 since October 27th it's the best android phone to get before this I was using the OnePlus 9 and Galaxy S21 plus
No charger. Not even a plastic case in the box!
Why are you dropping a high-end electronic device?
@@MichaelDetwiler really didnt drop it. lets say on its a back pack or edge of the kitchen table? Those pixel phones arent high end and the phone was in a case. poorly made phones.
4:34 Android 12 L? L was android 5, unless you mean something else entirely
Yep! Something entirely different coming very soon!
Nice review. The 6 is a nice phone and good return to form for Google.
Excited to see what the 7 series brings.
Would this be a good upgrade from a Huawei p30?
Hell yes
Yes sir
Pixel 6 has the most powerful GPU in any android smartphone...
@@frank719 facts
I've had really good battery life. Definitely a few bugs here and there however.
These phones aren't even on display in Three shops as people aren't interested in them in the UK. Currys is the only place where they are on display. Pixel 4 XL user btw. Shame
I'm upgrading from Google Pixel 2 XL to Google Pixel 6
Hmm... am I the only one that is disappointed by the camera system? I mean low light is maybe in the same ballpark as a Honor 50. The Ultrawide is really bad with uneven unsharpness in the photos and lack of details. Overall the camera system has a yellowish too warm color output.
A balanced review - I’ve subscribed
the power button is to high up to reach easily.
I thought about getting that phone but it’s not sold here in the States and so our choices are less here
He is just perfect, good price and i believe with updates will get better soon.
Would be amazing to see a comparison between Samsung's S20 FE 5G or the S21 FE(when it gets launched) with the Pixel 6!!
indeed the s20 fe is a very good value for money, capable cameras with optical zoom somethimg the normal pixel lacks, competitive processor but costs 200-250€ less, at least in Europe
I love this phone so finally join the Pixel Team
They need to make a cloudy write 6
I still believe the $349 OnePlus 7T remains a stellar deal!
5:19 AM (yep!)

Where can I find this deal!
What other methods does the phone have for unlock?
@@USArmy91222 A Pin code that is what I use from now, but if you have some other unlock with biometric, like a bank, and the other apps you want to use fingerprint set up, it's a catch 22!
Dude quit complaining the battery life is fine and the viewing angles are fine you don't look at your phone from different angles just use the phone. Also the Bezzles are fine they're not big, have you seen the iPhone the bezzles are huge so no the Bezzles are fine you're just coming up with things to complain about as if a perfect phone exists
It's the $600, it's amazing for the money. How about we be thankful for all the amazing shit in our lives
With adaptive battery it should get better over time.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've had a Google phone for the last 8 years (Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, Pixel 2 XL and currently a Pixel 5). By far the biggest let down of any feature Google has ever released in "adaptive battery". It doesn't learn shit. Turn in off, turn it on, give it time to "learn" your usage or don't. It doesn't matter. Either way no difference. Most overrated "feature" ever. 🤣🤣🤣
Love it. But can't to not hate its fingerprint scanner, it pisses me off every single time
And to think I ALMOST got a 13 mini lol
same here lol
Would choose P6 Pro if didn't had that annoying curved screen.
I care more about emulation than I do about cameras in which the improvements from photos are very tiny. With emulation, the GPU you choose is going to matter a lot in a few short years. Tensor has a GPU on par to SD855.
I have the pixel 6 in seafoam
Screen needs ATTENTION yes it is ok but a little on the lite side meaning cartoonish.
My 6 pro on the way 🥶🥶
shame its just release in 3 countries
Anyone else getting a consistent crash on UA-cam?
I absolutely adore this phone but the constant UA-cam crash as well as that awful garbage fingerprint sensor damn near make me want to return it
Uninstall the update for the UA-cam app
Love my 6 pro
My concerns with Pixel 6:
* Major: a slow in-display optical fingerprint sensor is a big step backward.
Damn battery performance is erratic af w.r.t other reviewers 😑
I hate when reviewers sugar coat sh!t so they can continue to get free review units. Say the Charging speed for the pixel 6 is garbage when compared to the 1+. Simple. You wanna say shower to comparable phones. Grow some balls
I really like my pixel 6 sorta seafoam 😏
Erm, can ya kiss Google's butt anymore? Some of those shortcomings would be deal breakers on other devices but the pixel? No big deal... 🤣
