The likeliest outcome for the Hatz of course is that both the male and female are banded during 'off-season' and then during mating season the plumage on the male develops further until it's a full colouration like in the teaser, before returning to the banding afterwards
The male Hatzegopteryx having a completely different colour scheme is probably just the mating pattern. Many birds completely change their patterns and colours during mating seasons.
It’s possible that the male hateg from season one is immature or in non-breeding plumage, since some male birds look like the females outside of breeding season
The sauropod getting scared off by the frog reminds me of this vid I saw on instagram, where a horse and a dog are curiously inspecting a turtle, then when it comes out of it’s shell and snaps at them, the horse loudly whinnies and runs away in the opposite direction, almost trampling the dog in the process 😂😂😂. I say this to say that yeah, that scene is still plausible because even today, large animals can still get frightened by other animals several times smaller than they are.
Hatzegopteryx are just such strange creatures... Their anatomy is bizarre -- which is particularly pronounced when they're on land, haha. I personally love the idea of big dinosaurs being frightened of things like the frog. It's amazing what bluster and confidence can do.
I can't wait to see what dinosaurs we're gonna see in this season. Most likely the same ones, but hopefully we get to see some new creatures in the Mesozoic era. And hopefully in another season, we get to see other Prehistoric Periods and eras sometime.
Maybe the juvenile hatzegopteryx possess the dull pattern or females and as they mature they develop the colours (seen in many birds) or they develop the pattern in mating season.
Man I NEED a jurassic focused Prehistoric Planet. To see Brachiosaurus rendered in this quality and hear the great Sir David talk about it....buh gawd, dream come true
It would be awesome, but I don't think it's happening anytime soon. They've relied on filming real world environments for the backgrounds since the Late Cretaceous had similar plant life to today, but most of the plants in the Jurassic would look totally alien. Season 3 will probably be Cenozoic
I hope that Simosuchus is gonna be featured, since it is my favorite crocodilian relative and since it has never made ANY appearance in any dino doc. I hope that it will finally be added. :D
I'm calling it now: the baby dinosaur is an Austroraptor, probably displaying allometry in its skull shape. Also, I have some doubts that the troodontid hunting birds would be Pectinodon considering the environment in the background doesn't seem appropriate for the Lance Formation. Maybe the white troodontid hunting insects is Pectinodon, and this one is a Zanabazar hunting Teviornis?
If you ask me, it looks like this season is going to focus on the lifecycle of a dinosaur, each episode showing how new life is brought and raised in the world. Eg: Episode 1: finding a mate, Episode 2: incubation and hatching, Episode 3: Babies introduced into the world, Episode 4: Parenting and Episode 5: Leaving the nest. Notice how we are getting more images of baby dinosaurs and dinosaurs in groups. I really don't want to jinx it and I hope I'm wrong, but it does look like this is the case...
I know people don’t want many returning genera in season 2, and we already are getting a number of them returning (although this is just the first teaser so we could see a ton of new genera later on as well), but I REALLY want to see more Tarbosaurus. Especially since we know we will be going back to the Nemegt/Djadochta formations with the appearance of the Velociraptorine. However I do find it very unlikely that we do see Tarbosaurus again, I am still crossing my fingers
I wonder how they will split up the different episodes this season. Maybe they are going by location, which is why they keep mentioning Hell Creek in their press releases.
Only Apple+TV exclusives that have had a physical release are more than 2 years old (eg. For All Mankind season 1). Don't expect season 1 any time sooner than late 2024, if at all.
me want crocs. But also, im hoping we get to see the hatz kill whatever the animal is it brings as a gift. Im hoping its Balaur... even if we only see it get killed lol
My hope is that there will be seasons for the Triassic, Jurassic, and Early and Mid Cretaceous. As well as going back earlier before the Mesozoic and after.
@@joema500 Why do you think it's so unlikely? I don't think anyone thought that the show would have a second season because it was an Apple TV Exclusive.
@@joema500 I didn't recall any already existing models that Prehistoric Planet used, unless if its their own models just used to make Season 2 as well, then I don't know where you got that from. The Sauropods are rapetosaurus and isisaurus. The hesperornithid is either hesperornis itself or a relative. The new plesiosaurs could be Styxosaurus or elasmosaurus again
Maip's not gonna appear because the second season was basically made the same time as the first season which began production in 2019~2020. Maip was just announced in 2022, and there is no way the animators could make another model for this dinosaur within less than a year.

It would came, bite its leg, break its leg, Alamosaurus would fall to ground and because Tyrannosaurus woudnt be able to dodge because of its speed, Tyrannosaurus would be killed by falling Alamosaurus 30 tons body killing Tyrannosaurus on place
Tyrannosaurus had ankle bones suggesting that it was by far more agile than other theropods of similar size. To the point where it would as agile as another theropod half it size. @@roguetheoutlander8800 the speed estimates for tyrannosaurus are all over the place, with some being as high as 72 km/h or 45 mph. Bonus: the study that found 11mph/18kmph, meant that it couldn’t go faster due to its legs shattering, and that that would apply to other large theropods too. The same year as that study, another suggested a top speed at 17mph/27kmph for tyrannosaurus. Those were both from 2017. No studies after that.
