    Thank you! You are the best at explaining the small details easily missable, especially the phantasm thing when on a duelist run. I took them, for a while, as a way to summon some damage to fill the dagger and not the vital point that they are and use the signet asap for them!

    I really think explaining rotations in terms of themes, chunks, and priorities like this is the way to go. Nobody likes to memorize a list of 25 skills to use in a specific order, especially without knowing why they are doing it. That often leads people to not be adaptable and also to not understand which skills are good when and where, in addition to requiring a lot more practice.

    One thing for aspiring virtuosos
    The rotation IS pretty easy and it's very quick to learn, once you understand the phantasm loop, every other skill is basically just filler. The only other thing you need to keep in mind then is the deadly blades buff. That's really it.
    However, it can be pretty intense at points - especially the opener. You need to cast all of these skills very quickly. The first 5 seconds or so of the golem rotation do not include a single auto attack, which means you need to be queueing your skills correctly. Signet of the ether will cancel your phantasm if you cast it too soon, but if you cast it too late you will cancel an auto attack.
    Whenever I join pug groups on condi virtuoso I'm usually 10-20% DPS ahead of all the other condi virts and I suspect it's simply due to being able to click skills fast. And similarly I have joined groups with virtuosos doing another 10-20% more damage than me.
    So don't take this spec for granted. Yes it's easy to do decent damage, mostly because you have near 100% damage uptime due to being ranged, but there is definitely some skill ceiling to be reached with it. If I had to grade the difficulty myself I'd put it slightly above Hammer/dagger spellbreaker.

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  Рік тому +2

      Great points. Nailing the golem opener definitely took a bit of practice to make sure no auto attacks were slipping in. I find Condi Virt quite similar to Condi Scourge where yes the 'rotation' is fairly simple, but you can be pressing buttons rather quickly at times. There is definitely a lot of room to flex your skill on this build in lining up your skills perfectly. In terms of learning the basics of the rotation (which for me usually means comfortably hitting 90% of the benchmark), this build was definitely one of the fastest for me to learn.

      @jesse9710 Рік тому

      I'd say hammer spb has a way higher difficulty than cvirt. Pure rotation wise it's way less APM, and easier to queue skills yes, but in actual fights getting the most out of your damage is infinitely more difficult on hammer spb than cvirt. Just the fact that you're melee and have to alter your rotation on certain bosses to keep dps uptime to a maximum already adds a layer of depth which cvirt doesn't have with it's 1200 range

    • @figa5567
      @figa5567 Рік тому

      @@jesse9710 Meh, disagree.
      You also have to alter your rotation on condi virtuoso as you generate fewer blades from range.
      Also, power builds are generally much easier to play than condi builds due to not requiring ramp time. So knowing how to properly ramp your damage while doing mechanics is much harder on condi classes in general.
      I'd be inclined to agree if Sb didn't have gap closers but with dagger 2, dagger f1, hammer f1 as well as hammer 3, bull's charge and the fact that axe 5 can be used while jumping over shockwaves, you really have so many tools to keep dps uptime it's not an issue.

    • @jesse9710
      @jesse9710 Рік тому

      @@figa5567 though yes generally speaking condi builds have ramp up time, this simply isn't the case for virtuoso. Cvirt actually plays very much like any generic power build. High burst opening, small damage drop-off and then stays relatively consistent during the entire fight. Also all the skills besides your phantasms execute at a max 1200 range. Cvirt literally operates like pmech except it has way higher APM, and a little bit of damage drop-off at range, whereas spb has a 100% dmg drop-off at even the tiniest bit of range or phase timings. Yes spb has a lot of gap closers, but these always mean making a hhoice between keeping your rotation, playing for either ceirtain combo fields or cc timings, animation cancels, weapon switch timings etc. Why do you think you rarely see a spb at 100cm for instance. It's cause playing spb there requires infinitely more skill as opposed to cvrit. On golem fights I'd say spb then yes is easier to play, but the second even a little bit of movement comes into play, or phases where you have to get off boss (like adina for instance or cairn) spb is without a doubt more difficult to play

    • @figa5567
      @figa5567 Рік тому

      @@jesse9710 I mean I'm sorry but you just discreditted yourself so hard with that first sentence...
      "though yes generally speaking condi builds have ramp up time, this simply isn't the case for virtuoso. " I mean virtuoso damage comes from bleed, which is the longest lasting condi in the game. You literally are hard-stuck at 13 seconds ramp up time as that's how long your bleeds last. Additionally, your phantasms have longs animations.
      Also, condi virtuoso is garbage for Adina, that's a power fight. Similarly, your assessment is completely wrong on cm 100, it's not about the movement more so that it's about that fight heavily favouring condition damage. For example condi daredevil does amazing in that fight while being a melee build.
      I'm not sure it makes sense to continue this conversation :)

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  Рік тому

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! In general, this build will bench higher than Scourge (the scourge you saw in the video was outstanding!). As usual that comes down to player skill. Scourge and Condi Virtuoso I'd say are around a similar difficulty level with Scourge maybe being slightly harder. This is mainly because Scourge really wants to finish its autoattack chains and you lose a lot of damage by cancelling them. Virtuoso doesn't have an autoattack chain so it gets punished less. In exchange for the lower damage, Scourge gets access to a ranged revive skill (Signet of Undeath) and has short cooldown condi cleanse/barrier baked into the build for free. They're both outstanding (relatively easy) DPS builds.

      An unbelievably perfect question! I was wondering the same thing when I geared a Virtuoso on my alt account. You need to shuffle some of the gear and food around to hit 100% crit chance and bleeding duration. Here's a link to the build.

    I'm running a similar build, even though I haven't compiled all the right gear yet due to cost. However, I'm confused as to why you completely ignored off-hand pistol? It is already a part of the dueling trait line, and instead giving your illusions fury you can have 100% guaranteed bleeding from pistol skills, while also applying confusion, daze, stun, blind, cripple... And it's actually fully ranged, unlike taking torch which only inflicts burning on nearby enemies, which forces to to approach the enemy to get full damage output. Choosing pistol would also mean you don't have to fully rely on high crit chance to get bleeding from your blade attacks.
    Also, why are sword & focus being chosen over pistol when they aren't condi weapons? I'm just really curious. If they are better options, could you tell me why? Perhaps I need to utilize them more! Lol.

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  Рік тому +2

      The main reason you take Sword and Focus (particularly on the Dueling version) is for the number of attacks they do. The sword phantasm attack using Blurred Frenzy and Warden does 12 hits. Due to the traits all these hits inflict bleeding on critical hits. You also benefit from Fencer's Finesse which gives you an extra 150 ferocity. In my testing swapping out Sword/Focus for Torch (and subbing in Dueler's Discipline) resulted in about 3k lower damage (as a rough estimate). Keeping Sword and swapping Focus for Pistol was about 2k lower DPS.
      On the Chaos version your phantasm's don't really do much (due to the Dueling Traitline being dropped), so you're free to take whatever offhand weapons you want.

  • @Vietcongster

    If I may ask, why do you need to rely on food for Precision? Is it too much of a DPS loss to get more Rampager gear and instead use Cilantro Cured Meat Flatbread for food?
    I ask that because I'd rather have all condi builds use the same ascended food, which can be shared for the entire squad and there's less risk of forgetting to buy/craft it.

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  Рік тому

      Good question, the precision food nets you the highest DPS possible. However you can set up a build that uses Cilantro Cured Meat Flatbread that will be a whopping 0.14% lower DPS (according to the Gear Optimizer). You need to tweak the gear of course but it will work just fine.

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  Рік тому +1

      Welcome to the game, you're gonna love it! I'd recommend making a character/class and playing around with it for a while to see if you like it. You can take any character straight into the PVP lobby and have all your skills and traits unlocked for free while you're in there. If you vibe with the class, like the aesthetic or just enjoy playing it, then keep it. If it's not clicking then feel free to delete it and find another one.
      The game gives you 5 character slots when you start and if you enjoy the game you'll probably end up purchasing some other character slots for other classes (either with Gems or converting in-game gold - so you don't need to spend real world cash). This game is very friendly to those who have multiple characters (I have over 20). So you don't need to worry about getting locked into a class early on.
      In terms of what classes I'd recommend... Every class have viable and fun builds for every game mode. Some ones that stand out for both PVE and PVP (in my view):
      - Revenant: Tons of great builds in PVE as well as some good PVP builds.
      - Engineer: See above
      - Necromancer: Very fun and durable in PVE and is getting some nice buffs in the next patch, great builds in PVP, fairly simple to play
      Can't stress enough, every class works in each game mode. Find something you like playing and spending time with and there will be a build for you.

      Not a noob question at all. I'd much prefer using the Dueling version in open world. The Chaos version really depends on getting regeneration from your team for optimal damage and has much lower burst than the Dueling version. I tested both builds on the golem (no boons, no conditions on the golem and using food/utilitiy). The Chaos version did around 10-11k solo whereas the Dueling version did 20-21k. This difference is WAY smaller when you're in a group however.

It's fairly marginal though because the game has a decent skill queuing system. You can definitely work around it though. For example, after a fair amount of practice I managed to get within 3% of the Condi Renegade benchmark a few months ago when I was making a guide for it. • @connorconcarne

      You should not need to be in melee for Phantasmal Warden. It shoots out projectiles so it can be at range. It's good to get as close to the boss as possible though so it could benefit from combo fields. Works fine at range though. In terms of your bleeding stacks, hard to say without seeing your rotation or a DPS log but the first things I'd check would be:
      - make sure you have boons added (mainly quickness and alac)
      - check you have Jagged Mind as one of your traits (blade attacks inflict bleeding on critical hits)
      - look at how fast you're performing the rotation, the slower you press your skills the less bleeding you'll stack
      - check your overall bleeding duration (higher duration means more stacks)
      Hope that helps.
