- So what’s the story behind Decentralized Finance? How has all of this started? What happened in DeFi in 2020? And where are we going in the future? You’ll find answers to these questions in this video.
Although there is no one agreed-upon date when decentralized finance was born, there were a few important events that made DeFi possible.
The first of them was the creation of Bitcoin in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Despite whether Bitcoin should be classified as DeFi or not, its inception was the key enabler for the whole cryptocurrency industry which decentralized finance is part of.
Although sending Bitcoin around the world is cool - finance doesn’t stop there. Every robust financial system needs a set of other important services such as lending, borrowing, trading, funding or derivatives.
Ethereum, with its Turing-complete programming language Solidity and the ERC20 standard for creating new tokens, quickly became a go-to smart contract platform to build on.

DeFi is really big project in Crypto world! If you are into DeFi you should definitely check Cream Finance as well! They joined with YFI and made Iron Bank, which will be really big in borrowing protocols since now you don't need any collateral when lending funds..

This was the first time I understood why people were pissed at chef nomi. It wasn't that he cashed out its that he sold his entire known stake. Excellent channel, subscribed.
You can ignore it if you want but fact is HEX launched in December 2019 and became more than 50% of total Uniswap liquidity, that liquidity was what helped make Uniswap popular.
I was just about to say and now we have Hex but what a surprise 60% through it and NO MENTION OF THE KING OF DEFI

brilliant video it helped me to catch up on whats been happening since i left crypto after the 2017 crash. I just wish I got back in sooner rather than later and didn't miss out on the defi crypto first wave. I made my first crypto purchase of one Aave and it went up by $200 in a few days. The gains from Defi projects is insane.
