    I love these types of videos! I've been working on finding beds and setting up near them for the last year or two. It's a work in progress, but information like this is a piece of the puzzle. Thanks for sharing!

    Great footage and info Sean! Putting down something for them to step over to hopefully get a better picture is a great idea! I had not thought of that before. Also, you mentioned it before in a previous video, go in to scout or hang cams right before some rain is coming to wash away your scent. Great advice! Thanks for sharing!

    I've been to the boundry waters in Ely Minnesota before and it is beautiful,...but yes the mosqittos & black flies are horrible. Just to mention my Carter insatiable 3 will be in tomorrow, so excited. Great vid brother, try musk repellent. 🏹🤠👍

    Sean, have you ever tried the ghost blind for public land. I know there are cons like having to be very careful about getting blown if you move our from behind the blind but I know some guys in the midwest who have had some success with them in areas like you are looking at. Faster, quieter set up in the thick stuff and not so different from a hang on stand and better cover. Still have to look for shooting lanes just like the hang on, but you have better mobility in shifting winds or if you get blown you can simply get up and move. No real difference in scent control if your careful and watch your wind. If deer come in behind you they will wind you either way. Just thinking with a working guy it would be easier, faster and more efficient without having to worry about setting up or tearing down a stand every hunt on public land. Or worse, having your stand stolen if you leave it out. Good to see you out in the woods again!

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 років тому +1

      I have not used them but I have looked at them. I'd prefer to be up in the air and above the nose of the deer if I can be.

    • @greyhunter9287
      @greyhunter9287 6 років тому +1

      Yep, I have considered that as well. A couple of the weaknesses guys have told me is that if the deer circles or comes up behind you you'll probably get busted even with good scent control. However, one guy sets up so he can use his ozonics with his sit and he says he very rarely gets busted with that and the deer come in from behind where he sits the edge of a field once in awhile. He actually posted a vid from a couple of years ago where he had three does and a 2.5 year old buck within 25 feet. Also, the way he set up in brush with side shooting lanes was pretty impressive. Couldn't find the vid or I would post it. Another guy said with a compound he got busted a few times because the top of the compound stuck out above the blind and the deer caught the movement. Frustrated him enough he went back to a ground blind where he could control his scent and hide his movement. Sigh, wife thinks at my age I don't need to be in a tree and my daughter is ganging up on me with her. Just considering some alternatives. I was wondering if you had any opinions on ladder stands, especially vs ground blinds.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 років тому +1

      That's okay. The ghost blind doesn't appeal to me all that much. It is okay, but I'm not motivated. If I was going to get a new blind I would get the one Primos came out with this year that you can see out of it 360 degrees around they call it the surround view. Here is a link to one amzn.to/2LVcful
      That's what I would go with

    • @greyhunter9287
      @greyhunter9287 6 років тому

      Thanks Sean! Actually if I get a hub blind that was the one I planned on getting. Still going for the compromise with the boss and thinking a ladder stand is the way to go... lol! Good luck with your scouting!

    Good video, its always exciting to setup game cams in a new location. Checking the camera only after a week is nice to get a quick sample. From my experience I typically let a camera sit for at least 30 days. This allows for a better sense of what and how many are actually coming through on a regular bases. I'm excited to see what you catch on the camera.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 років тому

      Yeah, I typically check them after two, or three weeks at most, for the first run to make sure the camera is working properly or that a bear hasn't ripped it off of the tree. Although now that I'm in iowa I don't need to worry about the bears.

    Another great video when are u able to get ur hunting license here and me and my dad are gonna go run some cameras today on public cuz it all we can hunt which I like anyway we will be hunting 472 acres of land and I hunted last year missed a small 8 but hope this year will be the yr for me and my dad to get a deer archery hunting.

      @seansoutdoors  6 років тому +2

      In 90 days from moving here I can submit my paperwork for resident license status. Depending on how long they take to process my paperwork, I may get my license about a day before the season, or it may be two weeks into the season before I get it.

      This one is a Lumix LX10 amzn.to/2AIFXlx
      It has a one inch sensor and takes a great picture. It is a vlogging style camera, which is why I picked it up and wanted to try taking it on a scouting trip. When it seems like a fit I will use it but I will also be using a lot of my other cameras for things too, because with this it only has a 3x zoom and it also doesn't auto focus well, so you have to use manual focus for everything... So, for some applications it isn't the best but for others it is really good.

    Was wondering if you could do a review of few items. One being toxic broadhead was thinking that I really wanted to get them then I see lots of bad reviews seems like all good vids bout them are from flying arrow staff and was wanting an unbiased review. Another is precision peep sights looks pretty cool if works like they say. Last is garmin xero sights this one might not be possible to get because of price but just a review of videos would be cool

    just started watching some of your videos looks like I have a lot to learn about bow maintenance as a new bow hunter. was wondering on your opinion of bow to buy as mine is an older hoyt that was 2nd hand and really its too long a draw but got me into bowhunting (which I never figured I would like as a rifle hunter I figured that one would come in too far for a shot and be mad for leaving rifle at home lol but the adrenalin rush to have them close enough for a shot is addicting) as a newbie I was looking for low maintenance and somewhere I seen single cams lower maintenance but lose fps is it worth the loss. and I don t live close to any bow shops for much help just your vids along with some others. on top of that is budget don't need newest best thing just reliable quality made bow. im sure all bows are great out of box but im looking for mid price range built to last. kind of weary of some cheaper than others because of longevity before needing repairs but on the other hand just because it has a more expensive price tag doesn't mean its better just more expensive. and also was wondering just how many bows do you have seems like every video you talk bout another bow you have or do you just try them out?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  6 років тому +1

      You can hunt with a single cam bow as thousands of people do. Yes, they are still slower but they can still take down big game. Just strive for shots 20 yards or less and you don't need to worry about it. For someone not wanting to spend too much, I think the Bear Approach is a good model. The Diamond Edge SB-1 is a duel cam bow but is nice too for a beginner. Best of luck with it. God bless.

      I have wanted to live in Iowa and also work for the Catholic Church for a very long time. I had a job offer in a Catholic Church in Iowa which gave me a chance to live my dream. So, I presented the idea to my family and they were supportive and so we moved.

    Iowa is a scary place to hunt. It seems to happen where ever I go hunting on public land in Iowa. I’ll get set up in a tree and a mans face will peak around a tree and stare at me about 30 yards away. It appears to be the same guy no matter what piece of public I hunt. I’m done with Iowa! Has anyone else experienced this?

    • @seansoutdoors
