John dumped his first wife to marry Michelle. There are disturbing tales of an incestuous relationship between John and his daughter McKenzie as well as massive drug use. Despite all this they burned brightly and made a lot of great music in a short time.

That Monterrey Music Festival is iconic. The Who flipped a coin to decide who would go on last. Pete Townshend said there was no way they were going on after Hendrix. The Who was technically the headliner that night but chose to go on before Hendrix. That is the infamous scene of Hendrix lighting his guitar in fire on stage. Mama Cass said to Pete that Hendrix was stealing their show. Pete said no, he is doing our show.

The soloist was Papa Denny Doherty, the only Canadian in the group. They are all gone now except for Michelle Phillips.
