Thank you for this video, it would be nice to receive the diagnose from a pathologist, well explained like you did. When I was diagnosed with DCIS last November, I was overwhelmed and was trying to understand exactly this.
Does a biopsy cause a break in the duct which could spread cancer?

This is the video that so many patients need after being told that DCIS is categorically "not cancer" or "not a threat". I will be sharing it as much as possible in my patient perspective videos about DCIS. THANK YOU!!!! Patients deserve to be let in on this perspective and they desperately need this information now.

It would be nice to be able to talk to our pathologists when we are going through all of this. I would have understood it better. My question is, how many women have to take something like Tomoxifin in order to prevent one woman from having a recurrence? We are talking about drugs that can cause all kinds of other issues including heart problems. It really reduces the quality of life for a patient and you are talking about taking it for years. How does this effect health years down the road? The last thing I want to do is cause an additional health issue because I took a drug that possibly may have prevented me from getting a recurrence. It really sounds like a crap shoot. I was treated for low grade DCIS and have a lower possibility of it coming back yet I have doctors pushing me to take an anti estrogen medication. I am finally feeling great after having to come off of my natural hormone therapy, having surgery and radiation. Now I am supposed to take a drug that is going to make me feel like crap and harm my body even more? I am 64 years old and I just don't see the logic in this.
I agree with you! Most DCIS never becomes cancer, but they need a way to determine which ones will!
And they have no idea which case’s will become cancerous they are just shooting arrow’s in the dark and making everybody take the same treatment 😮
Research DCISION and COMET. They are doing studies for overtreatment of DCIS

My advice would be trust the doctors you may not need to be on the tablets longer than five years
