- Today we are going to dive into an important topic, DCIS. In this video, we will cover how DCIS is treated and what the chances of survival are.
There are number of reasons why at the moment we are treating DCIS with surgery.
Number one is the risk of progression. While DCIS is non-invasive, meaning the cancer cells are confined to the milk ducts and have not spread into surrounding breast tissues or other parts of the body. It can progress over time, potentially.
Some cases of DCIS can develop into invasive breast cancer, where cancer cells break through the duct walls and potentially spread.

5.6 cm DCIS. Masectomy undertaken just under 6 weeks ago. Back at work this week, a mini phased return. I think a younger age also increases the risk of recurrence, also remember to check masectomy scars too.
Hello Tasha . Really good to listen to good clear info on breast cancer. I have had dmx due to TNBC, but as a very low ER receptor I have been denied any keytruda, offered hormone treatment despite no evidence. Not feeling great about my oncology input . Finished treatment this December.

Does DCIS measurement get combined with IDC to quote tumor size? I had a large amount of DCIS with IDC. Treated with mastectomy, radiation and now Anastrazole. Also, how common is it for DCIS to be dismissed as calcifications on mammogram if you have dense breast tissue? Thank you so much for your insights!
Is an AI needed after lumpectomy surgery and radiation therapy for DCIS grade 2, ER & PR positive?
Please can you help me with the reason why women with bigger breasts are prone to cancer than those with smaller breast.
