Should be titled "what kind of people own bmw's" Cheap mf's that dont fix their cars. Every car will do this at 15-20 years old. My mustang had a slow leak, i went in with a mishimoto kit for like 200$, never had a leak again. Because what happens is those issues will stack up, the car will start to be a PITA, and then you wanna get rid of it, Then who ever gets it is inheriting your problems.
Honestly I own 2 of these and this is not the lifestyle. Sure, pouring oil in the engine once in awhile is definitely a thing. As many have stated, you need to properly repair or upgrade to a better cooling system
Interesting.. Ive daily driven an E46 (325i and M3) and never had issues with cooling lol Infact, the most expensive repair was changing the battery and tires.
i drive an 05 e46 and man, just in the last about year and a half i’ve had to fix a coolant leak, replace power steering pump twice, replace power steering hosing, replace 3 tires, and it still has problems like bad speakers and wiring, and a faulty fuel gauge. i love bmws so much but man are they a pain in the neck and the wallet
Really depends on what generation you get. I bought an e46 back in July 2022 when I was 16 as my first car and it’s been great. I’ve put about 26k miles on since and it’s been amazing. Just basic maintenance and some bigger projects here and there like oil leaks and the cooling system but nothing too bad👍🏽

Thanks for the tip ! I’ll check it out but I believe because I have m3 outer tail lights I had to buy an adapter off ecs tuning and the error came on after I plugged it in
That expansion tank is about to blow up and you’re gonna regret it. My old e46 expansion tank blew up and it tore my fan apart sending shards of fan to cut my coolant lines, and puncture the radiator.

Bit late to the video I guess but I solved my coolant issues and it was the following. My car was smoking so I decided to check the EGR and the intake manifold. After I took them off there I saw it. The coolant hose that enters the engine block was corroded. Not the hose in particular but a plastic piece to which the main and that auxiliary coolant hose connect. The corrosion was pink which meant the owner before me was using the red antifreeze and not the green/blue one which indeed corrodes various parts in BMW engines.

Wichtig wechsel den Deckel mit dieser verklemmt mit der Zeit, kann den Überdruck nicht mehr ablassen dadurch reißt u.a. der Behälter
Loved my E46’s. I was driving 323i’s, 325i’s, 328i’s, 330Ci’s and lastly my M3. But yeah, had my fair share of expansion tank explosions and subframe repairs…
I'm doing the same thing on my E46 for the last 6 months!
Hahah gotta just do a full overhaul on the cooling system and you’ll be good!!
I change me last week and is perfect no losing water eny more😂
Mines fixed to I put holy water inside of coolant 🙏
Why aren't you using quality coolant ???
Should be titled "what kind of people own bmw's" Cheap mf's that dont fix their cars. Every car will do this at 15-20 years old. My mustang had a slow leak, i went in with a mishimoto kit for like 200$, never had a leak again. Because what happens is those issues will stack up, the car will start to be a PITA, and then you wanna get rid of it, Then who ever gets it is inheriting your problems.
Step 1 - never use a turn signal
First rule of owning a bmw
The tap on the kidneys was so real
Honestly I own 2 of these and this is not the lifestyle. Sure, pouring oil in the engine once in awhile is definitely a thing. As many have stated, you need to properly repair or upgrade to a better cooling system
i thankfully got mine fixed, works as good as new
Same here mines all good now
Remember this too well.
Also on my E53 4.6is
Get it check and pressure tested eqch service - dumb plastics
My plan is to drop a v8 in once this motor gives out
Going to drive her to the ground has been a daily driver for a few years
Interesting.. Ive daily driven an E46 (325i and M3) and never had issues with cooling lol Infact, the most expensive repair was changing the battery and tires.
Video is a joke I maintain the vehicle as much as I can but I didn’t buy it to be perfect I bought it to be fun!!
You better start using coolant before it burst in flames because that has happened to me twice
twice🤣🤣🤣🤣
i drive an 05 e46 and man, just in the last about year and a half i’ve had to fix a coolant leak, replace power steering pump twice, replace power steering hosing, replace 3 tires, and it still has problems like bad speakers and wiring, and a faulty fuel gauge. i love bmws so much but man are they a pain in the neck and the wallet
With water you are wasting a good car instead.
The check engine is truest part.
No but fr is a bmw really a hood or bad car to own for a first car ?
Really depends on what generation you get. I bought an e46 back in July 2022 when I was 16 as my first car and it’s been great. I’ve put about 26k miles on since and it’s been amazing. Just basic maintenance and some bigger projects here and there like oil leaks and the cooling system but nothing too bad👍🏽
@@swervin_ what year did you have 1997 to 2006
@@Lifewithwu 2005
@@swervin_so your saying get a 2005 bmw for my first car ?
@Wu_boy just depends on how previous owners took care of it fine one that some old couple owned or something, marvelous track record etc.
Considering how often you refill your coolant, I was expecting you to pour the right way without all that splatter
🤣🤣🤣🤣
As an old Lexus driver I can’t imagine having to ever stop the abuse… such an inconvenience.
Bro my tail lights come on too. You have a ground wire shorting out in your trunk wiring loom! Just solder them back together with heat shrink waterproof shield for the repair!
Thanks for the tip ! I’ll check it out but I believe because I have m3 outer tail lights I had to buy an adapter off ecs tuning and the error came on after I plugged it in
I couldn't help but laugh when it said "back to abuse" that's exactly the feeling lol
Clean e46 bro 🫡
Thanks 💯 check out the rest of my channel!!
my isn’t burning or losing oil or coolant, just fix it and that thing is a joy to drive
That expansion tank is about to blow up and you’re gonna regret it. My old e46 expansion tank blew up and it tore my fan apart sending shards of fan to cut my coolant lines, and puncture the radiator.
I can only wished that Toyota had made the E46 it would be an amazing reliable car
They did, it's call the Lexus IS 300
My dad got one a E46 M3 when it came out and has had it ever since. Last time I saw the odometer read 270k miles. Still running strong.
When maintained they are very reliable cars This video is a joke the car is well
Maintained if you check out the rest of our channel we are up to maintenance and have just as much fun with it
Bit late to the video I guess but I solved my coolant issues and it was the following. My car was smoking so I decided to check the EGR and the intake manifold. After I took them off there I saw it. The coolant hose that enters the engine block was corroded. Not the hose in particular but a plastic piece to which the main and that auxiliary coolant hose connect. The corrosion was pink which meant the owner before me was using the red antifreeze and not the green/blue one which indeed corrodes various parts in BMW engines.
as a e46 daily owner...this is facts
😂😂😂
cooling system refresh is like 600 bucks if you do the work yourself. dont be lazy!
The grill smack is so relatable
This is why BMWs get the reputation for being “unreliable” lol
People will bust your balls regardless so enjoy your car screw the haters seems like you are still young so just keep doing you!! But coming from someone older next time before you order something for the car think hmm what’s needing replacing and upgrade while you maintain the car!!
You’re one of few my brother 🙏🫡
No I agree I replaced almost everything on my cooling system and I have another problem with it again😭
BMW math is you fix one thing something else breaks
“Don’t fix it if she still drives”
Please dont get any wrong impressions, I had a e46 323i as a daily for a few years, never even added a drop of coolant. And the yella light is on cause when you drive a beamer, you'll know.
Dont fear thr bmw, if yoi take care of it, it gives you the best, and I mean, the best driving experiences!
Sidenote - I currently have my 8th bmw its a 06 e63 650i (this one is more troublesome) and im shure I'll continue with bmw for the rest of my life. Aint no way im going from a Rwd fun factory into a boring ol whatever.
I made owning my 05 my hobby.
When he pulled over the front right light and back two were on. When he left it was just ghe back two. 😂 I know that feeling too.
I’m 100% sure it’s the coolant pipe underneath the intake manifold. Trust me 😅 been there
Mine also is leacking same posetion what maight be the cause
@@marvinndlovu920 coolant hardline, it’s going to keep leaking until the pipe completely fails and dumps all your coolant. Could also be the rubber gasket between the hard line and engine block. Replace them all asap.
The grille tap got me lol. Cooling system easy fix, don't forget hard pipes under intake mani.
Don’t worry I got to the problem but I break things quicker than I can fix them 😂😂Thanks for the comment!! Check out my other videos!!
Ppl hating on bmw but they were voted the best car brand for 2023 lol
The low coolant light gave me ptsd
Got mine 3 years now just let me down when it needed a new battery. Take care of your car it will take care of you.
Very true but I break mine faster than I can fix it 😂😂Thanks for the comment!! Check out my other videos!!
Flip the bottle over so it will pour correctly. That’s why the opening is offset from the centre.
Looks about right i had a clear dash for only a good week
Had the same problem with a petrol model. Common on those apparently. The diesels however...are phenomenal and pretty much faultless.
Judging from the sound of that clunk while shifting you either need a diff bushing or a subframe reinforcement or both.
Most likely both
I mean the good thing is your pistons and exhaust valves are hydro-cleaned so that’s a bonus.
The slap on the grill😂😂
Slap it like an 🍑
You can get a funnel for that, then it doesn't spill everywhere. I know BMW drivers aren't the smartest 😂
“You tought i was gonna waste good coolant” sir youre pouring it into a e46 thats like a audi drivers saying the same thing about oil
Looks great my brother and i know your enjoying it 💯💯💯💯. You cant drive a bmw an not enjoy it 🫡🫡
Thank you brother 🙏🙏 check out our other videos lots of maintenance and mods 🤘
i dont have these problems because i maintain my 20 year old e46. fix the leaks and broken stuff.
