- John Buchanan, Chief Information Officer at Mizuho Americas, sat down with Professor Stephen Kotkin, Kleinheinz Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, for a Q&A on the Geopolitical Landscape with a focus on China and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. China’s Communist party is a political monopoly that will stay its Leninist course while there’s no end in sight for the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Professor Kotkin told forum attendees.
Mizuho is sensitive to the events in the Middle East that occurred during the second week of October and the global repercussions. This discussion about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and relations with China is still reflective of the situation in those regions but should be noted that it was recorded on September 14, 2023 as part of the Mizuho Finance Leaders Forum.

So true. Stephen Kotkin hit the nail on the head. Few months ago he predicted what's happening in these days. Admirable.
Kotkin needs to be advising in Washington DC.....he is a world builder
He goes to various strategic convocations - all we need to do now is to have Kotkin be placed in charge of the entire NATO operation. Looks like he knows it all!
Post the whole conversation and then I will watch
Big fan of Kotkin but he needs to add more parameters in his historical rigid analysis and deduction:
- EU's role. This is a war in Europe not distantly from a perception point of view. Threatens EU security directly.
- Social media. Where we no longer rely on news anchors or outlets but see things unfold live and on global scale.
Why does Kotkin want me to believe this?
@@tuckerbugeaterWhat kind of a question is that? I don’t want to accuse you of being a bot, but dude… come on…
Can’t believe this guy is an Ukraine war fan boy.
Post the whole event. Kotkin fans will be angered with you otherwise.
Why are you his fan?
I like to listen to stories from professor Kotkin, which is always fascinating.
However, it is a bit disappointing to see him becoming a financial analyst, rather than an intelligent historian.
Has he given up finishing final volume of Stalin's biography so brilliantly?
I wonder it would be better if he had contiuned in Princeton...
as you might know, he is around a lot of scholars in the hoover institution. as such, he has access to a lot of opinions on economics and finance.
So yeah, take his opinion with a grain of salt, but know that it doesnt come out of nowhere.
How many people bought his book? What is the context of the narratives he's forming? @@aim120C

Lol
POST THE ENTIRE VIDEO, these shorts are not the right way to present your content. Please post the entire stephen kotkin video
Totally out of tune with reality. Stephen wrote brilliantly on Stalin, but this short propaganda piece will do no good in understanding the conflict.
He's crafting a narrative for some reason.
