Dear Ford, please add the rear HVAC systems on these trucks, that comes with the SUVs. Those roof mounted vents and second evaporator is so much needed in a cabin this big. Please Ford........The rear evaporator assembly can be put under the rear seat, theres enough space .......
Always great and informative reviews! And kudos to Tim because well informed, knowledgeable salesmen are a rarity. Thanks for great / accurate information.
Adaptive Cruise is a must if you're planning to make this into a Hot Shot or 5th Wheeler Hauler. I think you have to order the Ultimate Lariat Package to get it.
82 000 is expensive, but this is a super duty made to work so should be an easy company write off. The 80, and 90, and even 100 thousand dollar f150's are crazy to me, even if you can write off a chunk of it as business' expenses.
payload is around 11.5k BEFORE you add a service body or hotshot body. very well worth it. Too bad they don't offer a 360 camera on these trucks or Id definitely be looking at one. 360 cameras may be something so small, but when business insurance is crazy high, any little bit of tech to avoid having to file a claim helps.
This is probably a solution to those with a heavy slide in campers without the frame failure issues that went viral a while back on that one ton Ram. However, most folks wouldn't like the super stiff suspension of a 550, so you would have to soften it as was done on that 5500 Ram you showed a while back.

Just ordered my 24’ last week. After seeing this vid, love to see what I might get, assuming 23-24’ years don’t change much on the interior. My build is almost identical. Good stuff. So thanks for posting!
Running air bags on this would be nice if you ride unloaded. The bags themselves, would make the rear end smoother and less jarring keeping the leafpack away from the overloads. 5-10 psi and you be riding on clouds.
I'll wait for 6.7 HO lariat ultimate, with grey leather, because of construction industry. I got the 2006 f 550 with kuv boby which still in meticulous condition. But need to change at some point. So I hope ford listens and offers grey with all the goodies. Nice truck and a great info . Thank you
950 pound feet of torque was more than the '17-20....which is plenty. I honestly don't feel seat of the pants difference between the 1050 I have now vs the 935 I had. What's funny is I delete the center console on my Lariats..center console is still usable and having the ability to seat 3 when needed is more important to ME. The turning radius of the 450> makes me an owner for life....will never go back to a SRW.
Can the cluster get locked on the screen I choose? Every time I restart the truck, the cluster display goes back to a default screen. I like to always have the average MPG on, so I always have to scroll and re - display it every time I restart the truck

I hate that cab and chassis can’t be equipped with the same engine specs as a pickup. Sure some companies might want the lower power but it needs to be an option.

Telll him to him to tell his FORD REP that Ford needs to bring back the manual shift on the floor four wheel drive shift. Not everyone like the ELECTRONIC SHIFT THEY ONLY HAVE NOW.
nice review. very informative. I'm looking for a high end f550 or f650 for a lance triple slide. wife and I want to take this show on the road. something she can drive easily. she's 24, I'm 72. no, your eyes didn't go bad. you're just not as blessed.
The cab chassis have nothing to do with the turning radius. The f450, in general, has the better turning. The frame rails are narrowed, which allows the axle to turn sharper.
I have a question. I drove an F550 Cab and Chassis last year for 1000 miles on a job. I strongly agree with you on the turning. I actually got an F450 Limited this year because I strongly prefer the turning radius. Is the cab and chassis 550 a step above even the 450 Crew Cab?
Define “step up.” A 450 pickup shares its frame with the 350 dually. Both the 350 dually and the 450 pickup use the Dana M300 rear axle, but the 450 pickup gets the heavier duty version including axle half shafts. Suspension front and rear is nearly identical. What the 450 pickup DOES get is the wide track front axle (although all Super Duty’s use the same Dana 60 front axle), 19.5” commercial wheels and tires, and larger brakes. The 550 cab and chassis has a stronger frame, much more robust rear suspension, larger / stronger rear axle, and the detuned engine.
@@tylermacconnell217 I heard the handling on the 550 was even far beyond what is considered top tier in the 450. I drove a 550 1000+ miles on a load last year and it was absolutely amazing to drive. I loved the handling and breaking. I also drove a few brand new 350 duallys and weren't even comparable in respect to how they handled the 8000 lb load with breaking and handling. This convinced me to buy a 450 Limited and I hope the handling will be more comparable to the 550 not the 350.

Why the hell do they even bother putting that flap thing under the front for mpg on this thing? The difference itll make when this thing is serving its purpose is non existent.
Warning to anybody wanting to buy one as a work truck, there is an automatic idle shutdown, which will only allow 30 minutes of idle time and cannot be disabled without forscan or pto pigtail. As for my personal situation, we use commercial power tools off of an inverter in remote locations to do maintenance, repairs and construction. If I engage the pto the truck idles up to 1500 rpm (what’s required to run the crane) overkill for just running an inverter. Not to mention -40 during winter. Terrible feature, needs to be removed from these commercial trucks.
If you are on a canoe trip and the outfitter service locks your keys in the truck at the landing point, I would see the key pad still serves a very useful purpose.

Man that is a whole lot of capacity! Kind of makes me wish I needed a truck like this lol

Tim use to be a mechanic back in the day. that’s why he actually knows what he is talking about
Have fun trying to find one on the lot nationwide.

Thanks so much for this review. It's not easy finding good info on these rigs. I appreciate it!

This is really a nice truck. I would consider it for our next slide inn camper unit... Great review thank you!!
You asked very good questions, the gear ratios and the fuel tank sizes were on point.

This is a great option! Does it have heated steering wheel?
depends on your trailer setup or what your doing, your gonna need a class A cdl

Does the 23 Lariat Chassis include rain sensing wipers and heated steering wheel?
Thats a BEAST right there....can you get a cab added after the fact or ?
You can get the the 450 lariat with the bed and high output motor which is another option. 👍👍
Excellent review!
I wonder if you can add a classic bed on this truck.
