Thank you Gail....I have a Triumph and am learning so much from you on the different weight threads that I can use, as well as Embroidery threads!
Hi Colleen, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have. I am very familiar with the Triumph. There are so many beautiful stitches that a serger can do, it’s fun to learn about them! Thanks for watching.
Thank you Gail for all your videos
I just bought my first serger it's coming Thursday can't wait to get started you have inspired me so much!
You’re welcome, Susie and thanks for watching. Please feel free to send any questions along-I love helping new serger owners.i will also schedule online classes on Zoom this winter so watch for announcements!
Thank you for including both brands of machines! Love learning from you!!
You're welcome Laurie. Both brands are terrific machines. And Thread Fusion is great for other brands as well. (I just don't have space for every single one!)
Thanks for a great presentation, Gail. I have also used my TF stand (lg size) to hold a knit binding strip when I use my knit binder attachment. I wind the binding around a round paper holder (like a toilet paper holder) and place it on a TF peg, set the TF in front of my Triumph on a peanut butter jar (just the right height) and thread the binder through the binder attachment. It works beautifully and frees up my right hand.
What a fantastic idea, Susan! I'd love to post a pic of how you set up your binding if you give permission and send a pic. It's always great to find creative ways to make a tool multi-task. Glad you enjoyed the video and Thanks very much!
Sorry I missed the live. I just received my large Thread Fusion and I have my Bernina L890 and with this video I am excited to give this decorative stitching a try. You are a fantastic instructor and very inspirational! Thank you so much!!!!
Hi Julie, I’m excited to see what you do with Thread Fusion. Now that the holidays are right around the corner, it’s a perfect time for decorative stitching! Keep me posted and thanks! Xo, Gail
Great session! Not only did I learn about Thread Fusion (which just arrived for me to play with!) but I have a page of notes of other tips!!! So much great info! Thank you.
You’re welcome, Bobbie. Glad you learned so much and thanks for your purchase. I’d love to see what you make with Thread Fusion!
Thanks Gail! Very inspiring too!!
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching, Bernice!
Thank you so much for this video, lots of tips and advice, I learned so much!
You’re welcome Cecilia and thanks for watching!
great tips, I ordered the large, I have the L890...can't wait to try it out! Thanks!!
Hi Deb, I've been filling orders all day and yours will be mailed tomorrow. You'll love it and if you have questions, let me know. Thanks for your order!
xo,
Gail
thank you Gail, Thread Fusion live reply was great to watch. I've never thought of putting more than one thread through the needle, I have a Babylock but only ever used the EL needles and not attempted topstitch needles
Hi Lesley, In OVERLOCK mode, you can use a variety of needles. Here's a link to a Tip Clip about needles and sergers: ua-cam.com/video/7PD2KTd7Jpg/v-deo.html. In cover/chainstitch mode, I use ELx 705 needles only. When stitching knits with Lycra or any elastic fibers, often a stretch or jersey needle will give better stitch formation for seams. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll always be happy to help you. Thanks for watching!
@@GailPatriceDesign Many thanks Gail, I've just watched the tip clip link. I owned a basic overlocker for years but only used it for rolled hemming and overlocking garments. I've upgraded to a BL coverlock and finding I have much to learn, your tip clips and videos are great and I'm looking forward to practicing with embroidery threads.
@@lesleyr2677 Hi Lesley, Please reach out with any questions as your learning journey progresses. I’ll be very happy to answer you!
I ordered the large thread fusion. Excited to try it!
Hi Celeste, Thanks very much. I'll ship your order as soon as my shipment arrives. They sold out super fast but I should have more this week.
Very cool project for the thread fusion ❤
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have questions!
Great presentation. Thank you
You're welcome, Amy and thanks for watching!
Great instruction on thread fusion
Thanks for watching, Bernadette!
You are an exceptional teacher and I’m so grateful for you YT videos. I became a serger “convert” bc of yours videos and book. I just bought a Bernina L890 last week. I’m so excited about all I’m about to learn! The first thing I wanted to do was one of your “No hassle tassels”. The air threader of my machine is not “sucking” the 12wt thread. What am I doing wrong? Also, what are the settings for the tassels on the B L890? Thanks again for all your content!
Hi, when you lock the air threading tubes, look closely to see if they are lined up exactly with the other end of the tubes. Sometimes if they don’t align perfectly, thread won’t whiz through them. Also if your thread has a bend or kink in it, trim it away. That also impedes threading.12-wt. thread should go through the tubes. Also if the loopers aren’t positioned correctly, the tubes won’t close at all even though you turned the big white knob.
I set my machine for a 3-thread rolled hem (#8). But I always increase the lower looper tension to 7. And I put either 12-wt or 8-wt. thread in the upper and lower loopers. You’ll have to test stitch length to see what you like. But definitely pull the thread chain behind the foot with a consistent amount of tension (not super hard). If your air threading still isn’t working properly, let me know. What day did you purchase your machine last week? I’m very excited to help you get going on it! Thanks.
@@GailPatriceDesign I can’t believe you reply so quickly…thank you so much. Thanks also for the info on thread settings. I’ll try asap. Today I bought some Sulky 12wt thread and in comparison to the “12wt” Wonderfil Razel I use when trying my first tassel, it’s much thinner (the wonderfil 12wt Razel didn’t go through the tube, but the Sulky did). Was this the problem? I got my machine on March 14th. Thanks again!
@@kchart47 Hi, if you purchased your machine 3/14 after seeing my Serger Savvy video, you qualify for a $100 rebate from BERNINA! Email me your full name and address and I’ll send the coupon. (gail@gailpatrice.com) The instructions for mailing it are on the coupon. I’m so happy for you. Back to the threading issue. Any thread that designated a certain weight on the label should be equal in thickness, no matter which brand. So I don’t have an explanation other than that there are manufacturing differences. But if your air threading continues to be a problem, have your technician look at it.
@@GailPatriceDesign I just sent you an e-mail with my info…Can’t wait to get that rebate coupon! By the way, I went to the Wonderfil web site and they did state their Razzle thread is 8wt. perele cotton, not 12wt (…my mistake 😉). I’ll be paying close attention to the air tubes next time I try this technique bc my 8wt. threads are beautiful and I’d love to make tassels with them also, if possible . Thank you again !

You might need a thread cradle to send 8-wt thread through the tubes. Let me know if you need help! xo, Gail@@kchart47
Will you be using the thread fusion in the event on April 6? I'm getting ready to sign up as I have a Triumph and an Evolution
Yes I will use Thread Fusion during the Decorative Serger Stitches Workshop. And there may be another surprise too! Thanks for asking.
Gail, I have an Evolve and feel certain the Universal will work well with it. It does have round plastic thread disks, whitch I confess I've never used. My question however is how can it be used with sewing machines, would you use it to in your bobbins, or perhaps thread it through your needle with a larger eyed top stitch or jeans needle. I already envision using some of the decorative stitches with two or three embroidery threads. I'm sure I would do more on my serger, but inquiring minds want to know.
Hi Bonnie, If using Thread Fusion on your sewing machine, insert a topstitch needle (larger eye)-either 80/12 or 90/14. A sewing machine can handle multiple machine embroidery weight thread in the needle, but can only handle (1) 12-wt. thread in the needle. No matter what threads you use in the needle, wind the bobbin with bobbin thread. Youll probably need to lengthen your stitch and possibly drop the needle tension slightly. Make a sample to get the correct look. Also I've found that sticky wash away stabilizer works best . You're correct that the Universal Thread Fusion is the best size for the Evolve. Let me know if you have other questions and thanks for watching!
You mentioned “serger coasters” for the Baby Lock Triumph. Where can I buy them? Thanks 😊
The "serger coasters" came with your Triumph. You will find them in a narrow white plastic bag with a snap closure. I have 3 with my machine. If you don't have them, call your dealer and ask her/him to order them for you. Check your owners manual for the part #. Let me know if you need more help and thanks for watching!
Awesome as usual-I’m adding it to my Christmas list. When you do the “Chunky” chain stitching do you use serger thread in the needle?
Hi Karen, Yes, Serger cone thread in the needle works well for beautiful "chunky chainstitching." Glad you enjoyed the demonstration and thanks for watching!
Will the larger version work with the Evolution or do i need to order the smaller one for my daughter and the larger for my Triumph?
Both sizes will work on each machine. I suggest placing the round gray spool “coaster” on the spool pin for added stability. Babylock sergers have the flared spool pins so the Thread Fusion stand sits higher. But it doesn’t make any difference in performance. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks!
This thread fusion is so beautiful. Thank you for the excellent explanation and demo. I'd like to buy one. Is it correct that they both work on the Triumph? How long will you offer the discount?
Hi Kim, Yes, Thread Fusion will definitely work on your Triumph. I do offer discounts/sales periodically, so watch for announcements!
Good morning
Good afternoon, Linda and thanks for watching!
I have a Babylock Enlighten serger. Would this stand work on it.
Hi Jocelyne, Yes! The Universal size would be fantastic for the Enlighten. It will sit on the spool pins perfectly. Please let me know if you need more info and I'll be happy to hear from you. Thanks for watching!
I thought I might try some decorate embroidery threads I am thinking putting it next to the machine and using a thread stand
Excellent idea! I’d love to see a pic of how you set up your Thread Fusion and machine. Thanks!
When I get it I will try it
What is a SUE? you mention it several time when using a thread loop to pull threads through, but context does not give a clue. It is not 'sew', that context does not make sense, so it must be nomenclature of which I am not familiar
Hi Pam, I think you heard "lasso" as "lassue"! The looped end the the thread cradle lassos the multiple threads to pull them through the eye of the designated looper. Can you tell I'm from New England?🤣
Thank you I just ordered it how would you use it on the 880
What type of stitching are you planning to do on the 880? Is it embroidery ? I'll wait to hear back from you-Thanks!
I have the Bernina L890, can you only use the embroidery weight thread with the thread fusion device in the chain looper or can I use heavier thread (like the Spaghetti thread you carry)?
Hi Lyn, Yes you can use (2) 8-wt threads in a looper (with the bypass bracket) and I've even used (3) 12-wt threads in the chain looper. The bold threads really pop and create beautiful dimensional stitching. Let me know if you have more questions and I'd love to see what you do with Thread Fusion. Thanks for watching and asking a great question!
Great - I'll have to try that. I haven't used the bypass bracket yet.... I've had my L890 about a year now - I love it! So many things I can do with it besides just finishing a seam. @@GailPatriceDesign
If you skip to timestamp (approx.) 30.00 minutes in the video, I demo using the bypass bracket on the Triumph. It's almost exactly the same process on the BERNINA L890. Let me know if you need any help. Thanks!@@lynfedden6771
ok - I'll check that out. @@GailPatriceDesign
Gail I have an Evalution baby lock it did not come with the disk is it possible to use the large holder
Hi, yes, Because the Thread Fusion has a solid base, it's very stable even without the large spool disk. But if you still wanted a spool disk, your Babylock dealer can probably order it for you. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have more questions!
What is a thread cradle ?
Hi Mary Ellen, here’s a link to the Locking Fork video: ua-cam.com/users/live3EquFsy5BLc?si=MRa4b6tZSZIm_L8W. If you go to timestamp 15:00, you’ll see the thread cradle. It’s an easy way to pull multiple threads through a looper. Let me know if you have questions and thanks for watching!
Just watched video but promo code doesnt work
Hi Linda, That Promo code was active for 2 weeks after the video aired. Be watching for a new special deal coming up and thanks for watching!
Guess I'll wait for a new code since i want to buy 2 - one for me and one for my daughter @@GailPatriceDesign
Gail what do you mean by a sticky dissolve away stabilizer…can you give an example?
Hi Barb, Several companies make Sticky Wash Away stabilizer. Sulky, Floriani, Babylock make this product with a variety of names. Will the one for the Triumph work for the Ovation as well?
Hi Nancy, Yes Thread Fusion will work very well on the Ovation. The spool pins are in the same configuration as the Triumph. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching!
