I don't know if it's been pointed out, but honestly Darwin's attitude seemed to match whatever voice actor portrayed him. Like, whenever the voice was lower and had more maturity in it, Darwin would seem more mature and sarcastic after dealing with Gumball for so long, and whenever they switched to a new younger voice, he regained his oblivious and optimistic attitude Or I could be just looking too much into a cartoon
Maybe thats why it’s so hard to notice his voice changing, because the tone of his voice matches his mood so a different sound of voice could be summed up to his mood
That explains why i loved this show so much in earlier seasons. When Darwin had the deeper voice, he always put Gumball in his place and really didn’t have the patience for his bullshit lol

I can't lie you could really notice Darwin's second voice actor's voice get much deeper when he stood next to the Darwin voice actor that came after him at 0:50. But even though their voices were too mature for the age they were portraying, I think the semi deep voice with a bit of a squeak was the best for both Darwin and Gumball. Like too squeaky was irritating to listen to, but too deep didn't make sense for their characters
I wouldn’t say it was too mature for their age; its been years but i still remember how drastic peoples voices were in middle school. A mix between kids that sound like kids and sounding like grown ass adults while all being around the same age (sometimes being the EXACT same age) Ntm them kids whose voices dropped overnight I think people are just a little too desensitized to the way kids in cartoons sound to know how varied they really sound like. There’s a lot of “sanitization” that goes on behind the scenes that usually winds up with real kids ever rarely playing kids and even when they do, both the kids and adults tend to play a similar tone without letting the voices run a little more free This isn’t a critique or a diss at the animation VA industry, just an observation and statement of opinion. There’s a myriad of reason why this is a done, that I don’t wanna get into and its better off that way. Even as a kid, i just always thought it was cool to watch shows like chowder, spirited away (despite bein a movie), gumball, avatar and steven universe because the kids sounded and were actually played by real kids. There’s just an authentic sound to it that immediately subconsciously registers with a person, even if they’re not as knowledgeable or have keen ears for voices like i do. I just think they always tend to resonate more than with Tara Strongs 50th gig lmao

One thing that’s really organic about this show is having actual 12 year olds voice 12 year old characters. It’s so much more natural and genuine sounding.
Darwin's change in VA was really obvious in the latino spanish dub since he got a voice way deeper than the one he had in season 1. And honestly both of them fit his character I think gumball also changed VA at the start of season 2 but I couldn't really notice any differences

I loved this show and I like how they made the VA transitions noticeable but in a creative way instead of just randomly changing the character in a new episode. The writer, the story, characters, were amazing and I wish it was still running

It also happened around the time I was starting middle school and felt like I was growing out of CN. The early seasons of Gumball will always be a part of my childhood. It's crazy how time flies.
You should go watch the rest of the show. I'm a nostalgia fiend but even I can admit the later seasons are way better, way more clever, and way more deep than the earlier seasons. Although if you're looking for an innocent show where two kids go on antics in middle school, the earlier seasons got you covered.
