Electric motorcycles are great but still need improvement, a swappable battery feature would be good, like a gas stop but just leave your battery there and get a new one instead of gas. It would have to be standardised across all manufacturers too and not proprietary technologies so you wouldn’t have to get a specific model version
I saw the first one of these last weekend and I was surprised how small this bike was. Really cool bike, but just can't justify the price. Fist thing I did when I threw my leg over the seat was reach for the clutch.
Again excellent dialogue on this motorcycle. Almost the same as my son's Tesla Performance auto. I'd have to give it the same explanations. Power "like wow man". Have a great day.
Hi Jess, I'm probably as excited as you at this moment, seeing the future of motorcycles, although it's going to be a very strange transition. The adrenalin rush from a screaming exhaust!, can be replaced by the acceleration, the massive torque can produce, and we can begin to enjoy the sound of silence! I would love to see a full review with specs. The first time to see a live wire, riding a live wire, quite a memorable moment!
I enjoyed hearing your first impressions since I know you ride Harleys and others. I figured it would be fast, but the price is too high for what you get, and you definitely have to be in a charging station rich environment and only take short rides.
I want to test ride the livewire but my local (syracuse NY) dealership told me the Motor Co. Asked the dealership to pay somewhere are 60-80k dollars to install a charging network at their dealership and they didn't want to so therefore they won't be getting any EVs delivered

"and when you wanna slow down you just sit up and use yourself as a sail" Exactly! That's why you see moto gp riders sit up before a turn, they're braking.

You are correct. The bike is suitable for urban living, around town, short trip or so. NOT for riders who wants to ride to the mountains or to the next town for a day trip. Or join a premium towing membership.
Yeah it's very sport bike looking. Apart from the cramped riding style, just not enough range for where I live either. Also as you said way too expensive compared to big cruisers / tourers. Maybe in 10 yrs might be enough quick charge stations around to use it.
The range is my biggest issue with it. My best friend has sport bikes that compare to the live wire in performance and we regularly ride 200 miles one way
So, how do you like that Torque!? I have an electric. Not a live wire but just as fast! Omg I was so intimidated until I figured out how to make a custom mode and took the torque down!! Now it’s got the torque of a scooter. Lol

In Central and South America it’s popular for muggers and hitmen to ride motorcycles on pairs where they can ride up quickly on their targets and getaway. So people have started to become alert to the sound of a loud motorcycle engine. I shudder thinking about them riding e-bikes where there will be no warning and no sound to track.
I think you are on the money when you say it is to early. The price is high and the practicality doesn’t make sense Yet. Great video, thank You for sharing.
Last time I went to Bert’s Barricuda here in Clearwater Florida they were promoting the live wire. Sales rep told us a 2021 was selling for around $30,000. Under a 100 miles before charging. My iron 883 gets 54 miles per gallon with a 3.3 gallon peanut tank. I’ll pass on the live wire Jess. ✌️
The only problem with the bike is it’s sales 41 have been registered for the road in the UK which is 1 demo bike per dealer 1 press bike and about 8 sales to customers. Dealerships are selling the demo bikes for about £25000 and there is one on E-Bay for £22000 I don’t see many takers even at that price ( full retail on the road is £29000). The bike is fun to ride and is about the best in class it just costs way too much which is sad . I didn’t expect Harley to bring this bike out and can only praise their efforts but at that price it is has been an easy target for those who like to knock harley and those who want Harley to re invent the shovel head and just sell “traditional” Harley’s to it’s core customers.
Charging points only solve half of the problem. Would you want to wait 4-8 hours for it to charge? I don't want to get home at midnight just for a day trip.
@@mattingray5651 The range is very limited once you get out of town at normal road speeds (50 to 80 mph) the bike has a range of about 70 to 80 miles as you don’t recharge under braking. But at 28 grand, and a charge to ride ratio of less than 100 miles?...(He DID mention you could buy an optional "Tesla" type charger that reduces charge time to 5 or 6 hours...ahem) Nah. Also, it takes 10 hours to fully charge on the charger that comes with it. A few more refinements and this may just be the bike of the future. The price is very much a problem. This bike can work for Rual areas like Ohio, but.....your trip better be taking you back to home or work (someplace your be for hours) with at least a 110V outlet.
