    I actually REALLY like the Liverwire. It's price is ridiculous though, and the lack of charging stations in my area(small town Oregon) prohibits any serious investment into electric vehicles right now. Which is fine since I'm still having way too much fun and am madly in love with my Raider.

    What is next for you to test ride the Pan American? Love the idea of an electric motorcycle , yet like the Electric car in my country Australia , not really worth it unless you are living in the suburbs in a major city and are commuting to work, because not that many public chargers which means you are going to be using household power to charge.

    I'm a wee bit jealous. The only taste I got of the Livewire was in a booth, and it was mounted on a display that allowed the rear wheel to spin. You could crank the throttle and that's about it.

    Things I like about this bike:
    1: it's fast
    2: paintjob
    Things I dislike about this bike:
    1: price
    2: general design (i.e. blinkers, headlight, seat)
    3: the fact that it has no gears
    4: the whining sound / lack of engine sound
    5: it is only really suitable for one single kind of riding (city centre), which is the one kind of riding I never do
    6: having to wait for the bike to charge instead of gas&go (if you forgot to charge it at home, or try to take it for a longer ride than to work and back)
    7: sportbike ergonomics without the sportbike looks
    8: did I mention price?

    Electric motorcycles are great but still need improvement, a swappable battery feature would be good, like a gas stop but just leave your battery there and get a new one instead of gas. It would have to be standardised across all manufacturers too and not proprietary technologies so you wouldn’t have to get a specific model version

    Hi Jess, I'm probably as excited as you at this moment, seeing the future of motorcycles, although it's going to be a very strange transition. The adrenalin rush from a screaming exhaust!, can be replaced by the acceleration, the massive torque can produce, and we can begin to enjoy the sound of silence! I would love to see a full review with specs. The first time to see a live wire, riding a live wire, quite a memorable moment!

So people have started to become alert to the sound of a loud motorcycle engine. I shudder thinking about them riding e-bikes where there will be no warning and no sound to track.

    • @johnludmon7419
      @johnludmon7419 3 роки тому +1

      The only problem with the bike is it’s sales 41 have been registered for the road in the UK which is 1 demo bike per dealer 1 press bike and about 8 sales to customers. Dealerships are selling the demo bikes for about £25000 and there is one on E-Bay for £22000 I don’t see many takers even at that price ( full retail on the road is £29000). The bike is fun to ride and is about the best in class it just costs way too much which is sad . I didn’t expect Harley to bring this bike out and can only praise their efforts but at that price it is has been an easy target for those who like to knock harley and those who want Harley to re invent the shovel head and just sell “traditional” Harley’s to it’s core customers.

    • @mattingray5651
      @mattingray5651 3 роки тому +1

    • @johnludmon7419
      @johnludmon7419 3 роки тому

      @@mattingray5651 The range is very limited once you get out of town at normal road speeds (50 to 80 mph) the bike has a range of about 70 to 80 miles as you don’t recharge under braking. This limited range rather limits the bike to short trips unless you can guarantee that there is a charging point where you are going a 300 mile motorway trip could be unthinkable even with fast charging of 1 to 2 hours.

    Too bad it wasn’t designed as a cruiser. I don’t think it’s electric drive that has made this bike sell so poorly, or even the price. Mostly just the styling. When has Harley been successful with a sport bike style/influence? Certainly not with the Cafe Racer or the Vrod. Harley buyers (not dreamers) love the traditional Harley look. I also am concerned how well the the Pan America will sell, at least until she comes out in cruiser form later. Glad you had fun on your ride Jess, now you can stretch out on your lovely Dyna!

    My uncle has been a local dealer forever, and he asked me if I'd like to try out a Livewire. The hardest part to get used to is the QUIET. Torque monster though, and I LOVE the "aggressive" mode. But at 28 grand, and a charge to ride ratio of less than 100 miles?...(He DID mention you could buy an optional "Tesla" type charger that reduces charge time to 5 or 6 hours...ahem) Nah. Also, it takes 10 hours to fully charge on the charger that comes with it.
    A few more refinements and this may just be the bike of the future.
    Oh, and I also absolutely HATED the sportbike "stance" and riding position.

      If you don't mind riding 100 miles per day and charging it for 10 hours to get a full charge.

    The price tag on those is stupid....and I've heard they are dropping that model next year.

    The price is very much a problem. This bike can work for Rual areas like Ohio, but.....your trip better be taking you back to home or work (someplace your be for hours) with at least a 110V outlet. Big city's have the charge network, and thanks to Tesla there are more charge stations then you realize. Now I've been waiting for you to talk about the live-wire. I've been looking at Electric bikes and really want one. The two biggest players at the moment are Zero and Energica. HD did good with getting in with electric as one of the Big motorcycle mfr's. Now I really hope that they do a cruiser version with DC fast charging. You ever need someone to review a HD E-bike for an extended bit just let me know. I will happily volunteer.
