    Always enjoy your podcasts. You show sweater patterns that I'm not familiar with, which is nice. I especially love that sideways lacy top!!

    What a lovely summer podcast! Love the matching set, and very excited for the Twist Festival blog :) I was mending some denim shorts while watching, and packing for camping so soon

    I gasped when you noticed you had pulled out your barber cord. 😂 I love your Rib Lace Raglan! I just made one in Santolina. Had the same issues as you with the bind offs. Just gonna leave ‘em raw. I’m making the Dappled Lace Raglan now. I didn’t think I cared for it at first but it’s been a blast and it fits great. Like the Rib Lace but with nice short row shaping. Cheers!

    Claire! Your pocket story brought such a nice image and conversation to mind about my dad. He was an office manager and accountant and from an era when white collar office men always wore suits or sports coats and he NEVER put anything in any of his suit jacket pockets because he absolutely hated the look of draggy pockets. He also thought using the pockets shortened the life of the jackets because of the pull. Thanks for the memory! I also always love your podcasts. You are so real and like a beloved next door neighbor. Have you thought about a new fur baby yet?

      thanks so much for sharing this story with us, denise! such a lovely detail to learn about someone :) i have been thinking a lot about a new cat but am still undecided, maybe once summer traveling is over... i'm just feeling like i go out of town a lot and wouldn't want the cat to be lonely!

    Thats such a good idea for the nutiden ends! I love your orange rib lace raglan! I love to wear things for a little and then go back and change bind offs/length. Your parallel play shawl/scarf is going to be amazing! I have managed to seam one side of my harlow sweater while watching this episode so thank you for the company :)

    Love the dress and everything else. Very inspiring:) How about a very dark brown for the Hollis border? Orange would also be great but if you combine that shawl with the green/black coat it might be very Halloween - which is also nice but maybe not all of winter. Take care 🌱

    I love all the sewing projects you shared this week! The grey linen dress is adorable and the lavender colour on the other one looks so great on you. I feel your pain on i-cord necklines... I've knit two tops this summer that have them and each time I've had to frog and reknit at LEAST five times. Like you mentioned, it looks great but it's so difficult to balance tension and elasticity (i.e., they have no elasticity whatsoever... lol). Ugh.
    I LOVE those socks you shared in Mezcla. I wish there was a way to get that yarn locally here in QC! It looks like Tukuwool sock is also a non-superwash + nylon base that's stocked by a few shops out here though, hmmm!
    I'll also be going to Twist. :) Have a lovely camping trip!

    I had to deep clean my washing machine last year because my housemate was a potter and clay had built up all through it, and it was quite a bit of work but surprisingly easy once I youtubed my make/model of machine and how to disassemble/reassemble the nooks and crannies around the drum
    // I didn't know until then most washing machines have a lint filter the same way a dryer does, so you could even just start there and see if that makes a difference 😊

    • @purlwise.knitting
      @purlwise.knitting  Рік тому

      i have tried to find the lint filter but i can't!! it made me feel crazy haha, i feel like it should be there somewhere. it's a pretty old hand me down washing machine and i haven't been able to find much info about it, but maybe i should look again. thanks for the tips!!

    It was great to catch up with you on this episode. 🩷 I worked on my Anker tee by Petiteknit. It’s talking me forever though because it’s my first knitted tee pattern and I’m making it with 3mm needles. I now understand the struggle, lol. 🥲 Yeah, I’m not a fan of summer either, can’t wait for autumn and winter! 😆

      @@purlwise.knitting The Anker tee is nice and easy to knit. I'm making the fingering weight version with a sport weight yarn from stash and so far so good. Yes! Team cooler weather over here, lol.

    On the structure vs drapey garments: I'm also a fat person and have found myself gravitating towards more structured sweaters even though I personally prefer the look and feel of an oversized sweater. After some introspection, I think it's because when a thin person wears an oversized sweater, society considers it cute and chic, but when a fat person does it, society considers it sloppy and insecure.
    And, as you said, theres the trauma of having stretched things out in the past. Or a friend saying, "oh you can borrow my shirt," and having to be like, "actually, no, I can't. It won't fit." "But it's stretchy!" "Yes, and I will stretch it out."
    Man, just existing in a fat body is hard. That's part of why I love your videos. I feel like most knitting podcasts are peeople who are size medium (maybe large) and smaller, which isn't a bad thing, but it's nice to watch someone who looks like me. 🧡
