The SDR technology is new to me and these videos are very helpful in their thorough explanations. Thanks, Dave. 73, AC3HT
Could NOT have been more well timed. Thanks Dave!
Hey Dave - you do a great job. Obviously you had a very good education - it shows in all your presentations.
The new RSP1B is out.
Have you tried the Malahit DSP-2? I can't decide between the two.
Thank you!
This is like asking which soap bar is better.
The answer is, a matter of preference and duty.
What a coincidence! I just ordered an SDRPlay and this brand new video pops up… well coincidence, totalitarian big tech interconnection 😊
Thanks David!
WoW. Thanks to this video I looked back at the specs of my RSP1, yes the original, and I realized that it has a NF=12.5dB @3MHz while the newest RSP1B has NF=18dB @ 2-4MHz ! Should I conclude that my old RSP1 is better at HF? Quite hard to believe huh
Which SDR Play Receiver is Best? The one you can get. The RSP1A works fine for me.
I have the RSP1A and Rspduo...The Rsp1a has the same frequency coverage as the duo albeit one tuner and I prefer the rsp1a for it's simplicity . Although it only has one antenna connection it still performs well. I bought the metallic casing for the rsp1a which let's you beef it up a little .
I use Fedora as my daily driver as far as operating systems are concerned. Is the software native to Linux, or would I have to set up Wine to operate?
I have the SDR Play RSP DX and a Adalm Pluto SDR!
That USB end is called USB-B 2.0
The blue one thats kind of similar, but two squares instead of one is USB-B 3.0
Nope not that easy, because USB 3 has USB 3 Gen 1 (5 GB/sec) and USB 3 Gen 2 (10 GB/sec) they both use the blue (doesn't necessarily need to be blue) USB port.
@@bepbep7418 The focus wasn't usb versions but instead common usb connectors. Usb-b 3.0, regardless of version, uses the little connector thats two squares instead of the one thats house shaped. Congrats on knowing your cable specs though, I'm sure that's super handy.
Thank you, Dave.
That was helpful. N0QFT
Can anyone tell how to use Rtl sdr to turn Android phone into old rf tv using OTG conection is there any Working App ?
What gives me pause about SDRPlay is the lack of support for anything other than SDRUno. I prefer SDRSharp. If the hardware were more open I would not hesitate.
Best to spend your money on a better antenna.
All of them use the same TV tuner IC and is subject to front end overload from AM to white light. 3Db NF is better than atmospheric noise up to about 200 Mhz. Besides antennas, adding filters and tower mounted pre amps is the way to go.
I have the SDR 2 which is no longer made, I may have used it for an hour or so. Which would be closest to to the SDR 2?
I really like the idea of the Duo, but then I look at the price and I realize I could buy about 10 separate RTL-SDRs for that price and do all of the multi-tuning in software instead...
You could do that but overall performance would likely be inferior to the RSPDuo. My solution was to use (2) RSP1A receivers with separate instances of whichever SDR software I'm using at the time. True that it costs over $200 USD to do this but it gives you ultimate flexibility in that each receiver can be tuned to totally different parts of the 10khz-2ghz spectrum and be running simultaneously.
Then you realize the GPU in your PC cost 100x that...
Did I see a pendulum mechanical watch at the background
