We actually flew into Mulu national park from Miri . I found out later that it's possible to travel down a river system all the way from Miri to the national park . I would have preferred to have done the journey to Mulu this way . We also stayed in a B and B outside the national park. A lot less expensive. I personally found the the caves to be one of the 7 wonders of the world , stunning and very unforgettable. The national park is in a very scenic location . I would do this trip again at a drop of a hat . Good video .

that rubber shoe is not good for plank walk but is very good for slippery hilly slope and river crossing,, it has the grip to hold you up I always hike on one of those in the forest. I tried many kinds of hiking shoe and found that to be the best and most suited for rainforest hiking.
Lang Cave is also my favourite cave.

Malaysian 👟Nike!😍 Unfortunately you 2 didnt get along.😟 You actually need to put on a thicker socks to suits them & to avoid blisters. I’m always wear ‘em for hiking activities.

Omg, I was there to watch the bat exodus on the same day as you guys. The bat exodus was amazing and had to agree with you that Lang Cave was probably the most beautiful in Mulu.

Another awesome vlog. If you are going to wear rubber shoes, wear thick socks and make sure the size of the shoes is slightly larger than your size. If I have not mistaken, you could get the rubber shoes less than RM 10 at India Street Kuching. My advice, just use your usual sneakers. It would take some times to get used to the rubber shoes....LOL.
This shoe helped me climbed up and down Mt Kinabalu. Yes, I got a size bigger. Then went to Daiso to get an insole. Thick socks helped. Amazing grip up kinabalu.

if you are able to go shop at the sundry shop, get a Minyak Gamat (sea cucumber oil haha) for the blisters.
they're really good for shallow cuts and blisters (and you don't need to put band-aid over them). i think most rubbing oil would work, but gamat smell less strong xD
the smell may take a while to get used to though >_<

Thats a great place for adventure! Great shots using the Go pro man, what settings did you utilize here, some people who use go pros may get a fish eye view. But this video is like shot on a professional camera! Great job!
Sure is, Peter! Thanks for such high praise! I don't like that effect that you get when you shoot with a wide angle so I pretty much always set mine to a linear field of vision (FOV) and then just shoot as per normal in 30/60 fps. Thanks!
That rubber shoes locally, fondly referred to as Addidas Kampong (Village), because of it's hiking/trekking purposes superb grip, that makes it stand out. You have to use thick stockings for comfort. It's price is only a small fraction of the price of hiking shoes.

That shoes...we called it jungle adidas or nike 😅. Good for hiking & trekking especially on swampy area. But with one condition, wear long socks (football socks recommended). Otherwise you’ll get blisters

Mulu National Park is one of the places that I wish to visit and I'm a Malaysian still not having the chance to visit while you have probably traveled to many hidden gems in Malaysia more than me 😅
I've been fortunate enough to visit quite a few beautiful places and meet amazing people! I'm sure that one day you'll get to Mulu too - I highly recommend it!
Don't forget to visit Sabah.. Can get here by road..

Normally people will wear rubber shoes when they go into plantation because it wont get wet and easy to care and clean. It is very not suitable for hiking or adventurous stuff as you already know it. Anyway, nice activity you went to.

Yeah I'll try to make a video on it when I can! But just for reference we did Kuching-Bako NP-Kuching-Mulu NP-Kota Kinabalu-Sandakan-Kinabatangan River-Sandakan. We then went back to Kuching because we loved it so much - although we would have also liked to have visited Kinabalu NP too!

1.00 from that moment, I knew that you are going to suffer. Those shoes are not made of rubber, but blister-inducing plastics, and most definitely not made for hiking. But they are sturdy and therefore, become the first choice for most Malaysian rubber tappers, who wear them with extra thick stockings that can both protect their feet from blisters and their legs from mosquito bites.
They weren't ideal! Seems I should consider giving them a second chance with thicker socks... or maybe not 😂 thanks for the info my friend!
