At the first official practice, she was almost chased off from the ice because she looked so young. However, once she started skating, everybody was in shock and forgot what they were doing. According to her coach, this competition was supposed to be Midori's first and last international competition due to the financial reason.
The greatest part is that her staking is even better now (over 40 so not technically, you know). Her love for stake is so clear in all her staking. It makes you smile. A wonderful person.
I mean, looks can be deceiving. This is just a remarkable little girl, who can do better than an above average, professional adult. She's so unusually mature for a girl at her age. She's the Jacqueline du Pre of figure skating.(Note as an example: Jacqueline du Pre played remarkably well for a professional cellist at a mature age, and she was only 6 years old).
@KathyKlamisme She is only built for speed and height. She is very muscular. Unfortunately, most muscular people who are built that way are not that graceful.

子供の頃から、伊藤みどり選手の演技や特にジャンプは、異次元でしたね。
会場で見ると、ジャンプが高すぎて垂直に飛んでいる様に見えますね。
エッジを効かせられるのと着地の安定感は正に異次元の選手でした！
伊藤さんの国際大会初出場となった世界ジュニア選手権は、規定20位からのスタートでした。そこから、SP１位、フリー１位の評価で、総合８位まで順位を上げたのは、当時の順位決定方法からすると、とんでもない「まくり」でした。ちなみに、この大会の男子の優勝者は、トリプルは１種類しか跳んでいなかったそうですが、伊藤さんはこの大会ですでに4種類のトリプルを跳んでいた、まさに桁外れの選手でした。
昔から小さいのに、スケーティングスピード、ジャンプの高さは群を脱いでいました。
誰もが、将来はオリンピック選手になる❗と太鼓判を押していた逸材でした。
今は早くからトリプルを練習していますが、この時代は、女子はトリプルの種類も少なかった。
