Ok no problem
When September ends probably.
Actually the Iga shinobi were betrayed. A rouge element escaped Iga and spilled all information to oda Nobunaga. The first attack was a complete failure due the Iga traps and their knowledge of the land. The second attack was literally a bloodbath as the nobunaga forces easily bypassed the traps and knew exactly where ninja were hiding. The remaining shinobi moved to a neighboring province but did not work for Nobunaga instead they worked for the Tokugawa clan and were spies and master assassins. They worked to whittle down a lot of bad influences within the divided Japan. The shinobi were still around until the Meiji restoration just in a reduced capacity until WW2 when they were called upon to become spies again. Now they are more tourist attraction within Iga while the only living master shinobi is in Iga somewhere.
Except he was never a Samurai, but a Retainer, for a year.
yea bro we know
Many samurai were also retainers and regularly served a superior, so you actually aren’t saying much. Some samurai even became leaders of Shinobi later on, like Hanzo.

It is important to note that despite popular myth and modern depictions there are no historical writings nor evidence that Yasuke was ever granted the rank or title of samurai, he was never given a fief nor referred to as one in any writings. Most of our knowledge of his life comes from these messages written by missionaries and locals.
In 1579, Yasuke arrived in Japan in the service of the Italian Jesuit missionary Alessandro Valignano, Visitor of Missions in the Indies, in India. He had been appointed the Visitor (inspector) of the Jesuit missions in the Indies (which at that time meant East Africa, South, Southeast, and East Asia). Valignano's party spent the first two years of their stay in Japan, mainly in Kyushu.
Entering 1581, Valignano decided to visit the capital as an envoy. He wanted to have an audience with Oda Nobunaga, the most powerful man in Japan, to ensure the Jesuits' missionary work before leaving Japan. These events are recorded in a 1581 letter of the Jesuit Luís Fróis to Lourenço Mexia, and in the 1582 Annual Report of the Jesuit Mission in Japan also by Fróis. These were published in Cartas que os padres e irmãos da Companhia de Jesus escreverão dos reynos de Japão e China II (1598), normally known simply as Cartas. On 27 March 1581, Valignano, together with Luís Fróis, who had arrived in Japan earlier, had an audience with Nobunaga, and Yasuke is said to have accompanied them as an attendant.
Luís Fróis's Annual Report on Japan states that Nobunaga also longed to see a black man, and summoned him, and Fr. Organtino took him to him and that Nobunaga, seeing a black man for the first time, refused to believe that his skin colour was natural and not applied later, and made him remove his clothes from the belt upwards. Valignano describes how Nobunaga, thinking that he might have ink on his body, made him take off his clothes and wash his body, but the more he washed and scrubbed, the darker his skin became. The Shinchō Kōki manuscript of the Sonkeikaku Bunko [ja] archives describes him as follows:
After this Nobunaga took a great liking to him and asked Valignano to give him over. He gave him the Japanese name Yasuke,[e] made him a retainer at his side. Nobunaga's nephew gave him a sum of money at this first meeting. The Shinchō Kōki states: A black man was taken on as a vassal by Nobunaga-sama and received a stipend. His name was decided to be Yasuke. He was also given a short sword and a house. He was sometimes made to carry Nobunaga-sama's tools.
Fróis wrote in the annual report of the Jesuits:
The black man understood a little Japanese, and Nobunaga never tired of talking with him. And because he was strong and could do a few tricks, Nobunaga took great pleasure in protecting him and had him roam around the city of Kyoto with an attendant. Some people in the town thought that Nobunaga might make him as tono ("lord").
After becoming a vassal of the Oda clan, Yasuke followed Nobunaga to Azuchi in Omi Province, where he was appointed a koshō (小姓, page).
Yasuke next appears in historical records on 11 May 1582. The Ietada Diary of Matsudaira Ietada, a vassal of Tokugawa Ieyasu, mentions that Yasuke accompanied Nobunaga on his inspection tour of the region after he destroyed his long-time arch-enemy, the Takeda clan of Kai. The description of 11 May 1582 states:
On 14 May, Yasuke departed for Echizen Province with Fróis and the other Christians. They returned to Kyoto on 30 May.
Like usel they are takinh extreme liberty with an individual who was only "friends" with Oda because he found him racially curious he never fought in any type of as depicted.
Nice history lesson! :)
@masoquequeres Some one has to its ubisoft Im always sceptical of their depictions plus I love history.
Nobunaga was legitimately historically zesty and just wanted to try this new exotic type of mandingo that’s why he kept him around no joke. He was not a samurai if anything more of a male courtesan.
Careful. Reality is a well known racist ,ND you get banned if you say something too accurate

The hate from him being a brother basically lol just say that
i think the hate comes from him being a samurai in japan . me i see this as just as yet another american colonizing technique using entertainment . white guy or black guy , same thing as long as they're not locals that's the goal . America always wanted to colonize the world in its image , with its values, wether ppl like it or not , America is like firelord Sozin wanting the four nations to merge as ONE under HIS control instead of allowing them to exist with their differences . America hates differences ...but pretend to like them somehow, so weird.
Just try to imagine you were playing a video game as a zulu African warrior fighting other African kingdoms but instead of being an African you were a dutch guy. That would mean the majority of game play would be you playing as a white guy, dressed as a black guy, killing other black guys
wheres the gameplay ???
Looks tops!
I remember my grandmother saying to me: " I don't care what they tell in school, all samurai were black"......
Finally!!
Hope they dont mess this up with outdated gameplay and traversal
Yep the the last AC title I played was Origins.
"because there was a single black guy who got to Japan and was kept as a curiosity more than anything, for whom there was no evidence that they were trained or fought in any battles, we will make a black guy emblematic of Japanese history"

adult male asians: am I a joke to you?
They have the majority of games from Japan and ghost of tsushima and trek to yomi. I really doubt they are as fragile as you are about this.

2 Questions.

I don’t get the hate I am genuinely excited. This is the first time I’ve actually been interested in assassins creed since black flag
Just racist who can't handle the fact their was an actual black samurai and saying arent we playing as an asain men to hide their racism also you play as an asian men in most game the set in japan yakuza, ghost of turshima, persona and so on they're doings this to hide their racism and we know these same people wont day a world to the last samurai or if it had a white men in place of Yasuke
Did you know even the Japanese gamers themselves dont like it?
AC typically uses local ethnicity of that region they chose to be a main protagonist but for some reason all of a sudden, they didnt. Of all Japanese figures, they decide to go for non Japanese, Yasuke, who very little known about him. Makes no sense. AC in Japan, you would expect to play as an Asian person.
People has also said Ubisof just hate Asian males. Look at Assassins Creed Chronicle: China. The main is a woman. AC in Japan, a woman but the man is non Asian.
Gamers has also found that one of the writers follows Sweet Baby Inc. I suggest you look them up and the controversy surrounding them.
But then you have one comment like the one above me pulling out the racist card, which is not the reason at all.
@@punch180 I heard reports yes but I dont see a problem. As long as a game is fun ill play it and this looks very interesting compared to post black flag assassins creed besides like unity

Except 100 he won’t be only black guy, 100 there will be a bunch of NPCs also black in game. Like with all other assassin games like Valhalla

Game looks Beautiful. I'm a big Samurai nerd AND a Yasuke nerd anyway, so I'm looking forward to playing him! 👍🏾
Nobody complained about niohs main character
Funny
Exactly. Racists are outing themselves left and right concerning this game. Ridiculous
Personally i think it's not because of race or anything like that, but rather why it has to be real person main character. AC is usually more of a fictional protagonist placed in the original historical timeline who drives/is involved in historical events "from behind the scenes". Real historical figures are only side characters. It would be way better if Yasuke was an NPC. Like Ezio buddy with Leonardo da Vinci. At this point it's just really being forced to fit him as the main character.
Already had a African male playable character. Rip to the Male Asian playable character lol
Why doesn't this kind of arithmatic apply to white main characters? Already had 6 white male characters. RIP to everyone else?
@@A_M_Bobb Those characters were representing the ethnicity of the area they lived and operated in whereas here we have an Asian setting with a non Asian main character.
@@ucef9945 not every game needs a male main character, I understand wanting the immersion in the characters but Naoe brings that already, and from what I've heard Yasuke is a real part of Japanese history so that's all that matters.

It's a a joke.
Not even close to Ghost of Tsushima greatness.
It's a slap to Japanese history and culture.
First off they're not trying to be ghost. Assassin's creeds been around much longer. And they've always changed times period's locations. And ghost is the most overrated game there is.
It’s almost like it’s trying to be its own thing and not be Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Tsushima take place before the Sengoku period of Japan and mostly focus on the island of Tsushima. Assassin's Creed Shadow take place during the Sengoku period of Japan specifically Oda's attack on the Iga province after his son failed.

Sweet baby inc DEI detected. Pass from me. Shame was looking forward to this
Did you whine about Nioh?
They keep saying Shinobi. Ninja were not Shinnobi. Ubisoft failed again. I'm about to give up on the AC series
At this point they are just struggling to make a space for unique space for Assassin's creed as a game type like it is for gta's,god of war's,halo etc but they just can't as no matter which direction they try to take Assassin's creed games there is already a better games blocking the road. 😂
Interesting, sekiro gave me the impression they were the same thing?
If they were not, I assume they performed the same tasks?
Asian guys got shafted on this one, no Japanese male playable character? Really?

Imagine if a game was made based in black history and they made an asian the main character.
Just IMAGINE the outrage. Oh right, they HAVE no black history.
For real! Hard pass on this game. Not shocking as Ive passed on most AC games. Still waiting for something playable...and waiting
I agree. How do you not have an Asian male protagonist for a game set in Samurai Japan? I bet if there's an Assassins Creed set in Africa the protagonist would be black and not replaced by an Asian man.

Yasuke while a real and interesting character in his own right, it's obvious WHY he was chosen to be a protagonist in the game, and that's to maximize DEI. Ultimately this could end up being fine, but it does seem like the only reason Yasuke was chosen was because he is pretty much the only moderately known black historical figure from japan. This isn't to mention that he probally wasn't a samurai, but that's really not a big deal as almost every Japanese game that features him portrays him the same way. Ultimately this decision doesn't rub me the wrong way as badly as some other DEI motivated decisions due to Yusuke being a real person, it's just I would have preferred any number of other figures who have more to draw off of historically, and are more interesting imo than yasuke is. I'm no expert on Japanese history, but Mitsuhide Akechi(particularly since he assassinated nobunaga) and Katsuie Shibata are both far more interesting, and have far more material to work with than yasuke. Ultimately though, i would have much preferred another fictional japanese character to go alongside the fictional Japanese female protagonist.
TLDR: while not a particularly bad decision, making Yasuke a protagonist stinks of DEI meddling. This could end up fine, but ultimately there were better options imo both real and imaginary.
DEI continues to ruin everything it’s cancerous claws gets ahold of.
"Gamers" not being racist and misogynist: impossible challenge
