Idk what good deed i did to stumble upon your channel but now I’m hooked! The Old World is one of the best games in my collection currently. However i backed this on kickstarter and it came with expansions that are essential for the game which are Monster Trail (makes each monster different ) and Advanced Action Cards ( adds strategy to the combat and movement). I think they should included Monster Trail with the retail game.
@@BadatBoardgames I wouldn't play this with more than 3 players (me included) i find it really good for 3 or less players. I play it solo most of the time, but I should note that adding either The Wild Hunt or Legendary Hunt expansions can improve the solo experience.
I played at Dice Tower East. I liked it, but I wanted just a bit more out of the game play. The game ends up being more of a race to 4 trophies than an adventure game. I will be looking for a trade or cheap copy, because I still enjoyed playing it and maybe one of the expansions could make it better. I definitely think the monster miniatures are not worth the effort. They look great, but it is a lot of effort to find the miniature and just stand it on the board with no other impact.
Great review; we own and have only played this title at 3. Picked it up at Atomic Empire on sale a few months back. I really liked the exploration, design, and the components, but we found that the game is just far too easy if you push too much into the exploration. I don't think I care for the race to the finish aspect of the game as it takes away from the ability to explore the world. We breezed through the monsters because we put too much time into our builds and exploration and did not really compete to the finish until maybe 90 minutes in. I really would love to come up with or find some house rules to balance this out some as it would significantly improve the game for me personally. Just not sure there is much to change up to help drive the level of difficulty in parallel with the exploration. Also, that outro song goes hard, love it.
Great review, thank you! I was kinda hyped when the kickstarter campaign launched and only restrained myself since a friend of mine was faster at backing it. We still haven't played it, but I will make sure that if we ever get it on the table, it will be a 2-player-game :)
Yes, 4 players is too much, we played 4p for 5h, 2p were new to the game and playing for the first time.. it was interesting but too much and interest decreased when time went on, totally agree. Solo was great though, will try 2p, if it is 2h or 2,5h, then it will be great
16:30 - I don't agree on this "rating a game based on its promotional price". I don't get it at all. "Oh if its $80 it´s a 3" "if it's $50 than it's a 4" That's nonsense, with all due respect. The game is what it is, and it has a price. There's no going up and down on reviewing a game based on its price, since the price is already fixed. Promotions are always gonna happen, it doesn't make the "bad game" any better. There are games out there I would flat-out DENY from ever getting FOR FREE. There are games so bad or convoluted I wouldn't want to get it, play it or having it making space in my collection whatsoever. Great review, very insightful, but that's just something that standed out for me. This whole "value rating"
Well I disagree price changes all the time retail is cheaper vs kick and there are sales. Several subscribers feel the opposite way. I appreciate the comments though everybody sees things differently and I hope you got something worth watching out of the other segments. It’s always good to hear the criticism as well as the plus so I can get a feel for what works and doesn’t. Thanks For taking the time to comment and watch the video!
Probably could’ve come up with a more chill way to get this point across… lol I fully agree that how much game you get vs how much it costs can influence a rating. If it’s an expensive game with no depth, I won’t rate it as high as something cheaper with a ton of replay value. At the end of the day, it’s his rating system. 🤷🏻♂️
The fx in these videos is really good. The fire the sounds the money and the outro the mood lighting . Game board shots get me happy
Ya the b roll I think people want the most but is the longest amount of time lol 😂

That may be the nicest compliment ever! Well that does seem to make the game more enjoyable probably still 2-3 player count would you say?

Good to know!
You're a great reviewer, Brad! Keep up the good work! Your studio is looking cool!
Thanks Scott! Much appreciated thanks for the compliment on the studio I keep working on it. Glad to know you enjoy the reviews as well 😁

I agree I wanted more adventure vs race. I am going to watch the new kickstarter play through and see if it give me that. I am open to trades fyi.

Thanks for a great detailed comment. I also agree it is not hard just a race and prefer the interaction of the game. Thanks for liking the music!
