Great work as usual. I feel this is just another dot ,that must be joined to many many other dots before the bigger picture can be glimpsed . I think a great analogy for what is happening around the world today is this. You give a jigsaw to someone and ask them to put it together ,and then tell you ,what the picture is . After a while they come to you and say, hey there are only 50 pieces in this jigsaw box you gave me , and its a 1000 piece puzzle, how can I possible see what the big picture is ?.
What is the use of SASOL if they are not shielding South Africa from high fuel prices? It shouldn't be competing with the other suppliers but should be bringing the price down. If not, why are they operating?
@@truth-Hurts375 How old are you son, when I was born during the Apartheid days, SASOL blueprints were taken from German WW2 technology and implemented here to take the edge off the coming sanctions on fuel and to protect the Country from grounding to a halt because of sanctions. Wasn't Sasol created in the first place to allow South Africa to have a independant fuel source during Apartheid sanctions. Fuel from coal or something, the process will work but it is not cheap.
@@andrewdutoit9571 Well if you konw that it came from German ww2 technology then you should also know it was a desperate move because Germany had fuel shortage during ww2. But still they didn't have enough fuel and it was lower quality. It works but not cheap.

Do tell us SIr ... WHO BUILT THESE AMAZING INSTITUTIONS? WHEN WERE THEY BUILT? The AFRIKANERS ..... YES indeed . who in 50 years uplifted this country into a 1st Class world leader developing KOEBERG even their own ATOMN BOMB .

Amazing? Sounds like the Afrikaners built a monopoly. The system never got a chance to be tottaly corrupted under the old South Africa, but the new South Africa is just suffering from the monopoly, if a proper competivtive system was setup we could simple change our choice but we can't thanks to the these "Amazing Institutions". And Koeberg and Atomic bomb can be bought easily when you the biggest gold supplier in the world.
Surely the price should go DOWN with importing refined product, as near enough 100% is useable. Importing and refining crude generates waste product, bit the same price per ton to ship is paid.
Our leaders driving the country down the drain, they've struggled for a while in governing the country. How much negative impact does this have on the food-chain supply?
Put it this way, from the farmer to the local store, every step in the supply chain uses vehicles to transport. Cost of production (farmer) would increase, cost of collective (storage) would increase, cost of transport to producers (manufacturers like Tiger Brands) would increase, distribution to shops would increase. I would estimate an impact on cost between 5% and 15% to be passed on to the end customer. However, if there is no petrol or diesel, priority will need to be made for the best outcome. Would we go back to horses or electric vehicles, may be a possibility. Business continuity will become an issue.
Mmm Shell is stopped from seismic activities off shore & then pulls out...more to this. The refinery is there it can be reopened. We will survive. We have made it through lots of crap. Grass is not greener overseas. Just look at Eastern Europe at present. At least we do not have Russia as a neighbour.
There isn’t actually a clear plan ...... it’s the policy of policy ambiguity to maximise rent seeking which is resulting in no action being taken leading to insecurity..... same in the electricity sector
Less security for SA energy sector More inconsistency of supply for consumers & higher prices for imports with Anc project markups SA is already economically unsustainable Poor infrastructure & in debt to the hilt After all our investment downgrades Major depreciation of our currency is coming, which will only fuel Hyper inflation Alla Mugabe🤔😳😳
An absolutely unrealistic and absolutely dangerous; we will end up like UK currently supply chain. We will continue to need fuel and fossil fuel for the transition period until we are completely using green clean energy only for the next possibly 10 years…we simply can’t afford financially for our economy to put ourselves into this huge supply chain and oil need risks for our economy
Green energy, I don't think could sustain the country's power needs. It could complement domestic usage but It'll never sustain an aluminium smelter, light, medium or heavy industry. Trying that would destabilise our country and collapse our economy.
