I want that. Just to share, i love pasta. Since most of the ingredients are imported like olives and capers. It is a bit pricey. But what can i do? I love so i just buy it still. We dont have canned anchovies in oil but we have dried or fresh so i just adjust on make do to what is available. If i cannot really do puttanesca then i do sardines pasta instead! Love from the Philippines! ❤❤❤
For this dish any good supermarket canned anchovies will be fine. They come in a small 2 oz. tin, typically packed in oil. Roland makes one, as does Cento, Polar and several others. They're all fine for this application. Buy the flat fillets, not the ones rolled around a caper (though they'll do in a pinch). Anchovies add a depth of flavor, an umami, to dishes - - not for the faint of heart to be eaten straight from the can (although I like to). Rather, let them literally melt into the sauce and provide an indescribable richness in many savory sauces. Buon appetito!

The famous fish stew, Bouliabaise, was a standard fare, for an hour’s break from exertions! The fishermen would mostly donate the less prime fish and seafood cuts, and it went into the pot for the working girls with leeks, white wine, some pealed tomatoes, saffron and herbs. !🙏😎 Maybe you’d like to do an Italian version my Queen!

This is just a warning to all the people who are going to make pasta in this way. I did make the other day because, why not try something out of my comfort zone. What is a delicacy for Italian's palet could be an unpleasant surprise for others. The pungent smell of cooked anchovies is too much for the people who aren't raised close to the sea. I used to have holidays Dalmatia as a child, and the smell of this sauce brought me 45 years back in time. In the small coastal marinas smell of the fish being clined on the spot is the same as PP. When my daughter entered the kitchen during preparation and asked me: What the hell is stinking here? I knew that I had to fry eggs for her supper immediately. 😅😂 I enjoyed it, but this particula pasta dish is not for everybody.😂
Before you posted this specific recipe, I would use a slightly different one. Yours is much better. White wine and onion make a huge difference. I will use it regularly in the future. Grazzie mille !
