Rebuilding hillside road torn apart by fallen tree with a John Deere 35G excavator

The road on my property that I use to drive my work utility vehicle on was torn apart when a large maple fell this winter. The root ball was in the road and tore a giant hole when it lifted. It took me about 20 minutes to rebuild it.

Would have been nice to see the overall scene and not just the root ball. Did you think to cut off the tree and have the rootball go back in the hole and fix from there. I would think cutting that deep into the hillside it might want to slide down onto your trail after a heavy rainfall...
