Who t who ,,I have killed some of my biggest bucks using deer scents ,,like buck tarsal ,,and doe in heat ,,also the exact same kit you tried but I will admit , every one that I can remember good came at a certain time of year like October 20 th through November 15 th,,something else I can remember,,there was no doubt about what I saw happen when using scents ,,I’ve actually worn a drag rag through a scape to open hardwoods , sat down looking at my back trail and watched a big eight pt buck track me to my position and then shot him at ten yards.

Been using them for years. Seems as if they work somewhat. I did notice a mature doe that's probably 6 or older just look up at like what's that. She avoided it just about every time she came by it but in other areas deer seem to at least check the area out. Had a red coyote roll around in one of my scrapes as well as a dog! Seemed so weird and I never heard anyone else to say that until now about the fox. I started using hemp rope to see how it would work with the dripper. Only time will tell

Never had any luck using them myself, & I don't like the idea of the scent being out all nite. I'd much rather use doe in heat cannister only when actually hunting. I have had luck with that. Use the dripper just before the rut. Put your fav doe in heat in it. Find a active scrape and set up the dripper near the scrape. Hang it way higher than you had that one. You don’t won’t the deer to be able find the source and figure it out. I hung one as tall as I could reach over a scrape and the licking branch and got pix of a Buck standing on his hind legs sniffing the dripper.

But none of them no matter what brand, has worked for me. I stopped using all of them years ago. I have much better success knowing the layout of the land. If you know how deer like to travel. You can get onto then anywhere. Just my two cents worth on the topic. Have a great day everyone.

@@dustinweaver3032 100% correct, all these companies just sell false hopes in my opinion. When I'm hunting a new area. I get a topical map of the land. I pinpoint all the drains and bowls and low gaps. Especially big bowls that come off a power line or gas line right away. And if the property has a old cemetery on it, that's exactly where I'm going. I don't know why, but deer love old cemeteries. I've had people look at me like I was nuts when I say that. But I've taken my biggest bucks around old cemeteries.

I've never used it before. Have been told by some that they love it. I have had great luck with Tinks #69 Doe in Rut. I've taken quite a few bucks over the years with Tinks. I took a nice 10 going to a line of p bottles I had hanging upwind of some lanes cut through a pine thicket. He walked out b lining toward the line while lipping. I shot, I missed. Pick my head up when I pulled the trigger. He spun around went back into the thicket. 5 minutes later he walk right back out heading to the line of scent bottles. I didn't miss this time. I kept my head on the rifle & dropped him. I've had many walk straight to the scent bottles. Buck & doe.

So I have tried this stuff for 2 seasons up in Indiana and have had no noticeable difference. The dropper works are designed but the scent never did anything. Fast forward a few years later same tree setup I started making mock scrape every season for the last 4 seasons and I pee in it every time I leave the woods and I kid you not just this last week I have had 8 bucks on camera hitting it regularly and I even have does using it as well. Believe it or not this system is and has been working for me with great success and many many bucks hitting it evey season.

I have used the drip before with success. I have used the scrape formula, Trails End. I also used the wicks which I would put out on limbs that were about 5-6 ft. Off the ground and 15-25 yards away but stationed all the away around my blind which I gathered a few different estrous and doe urines. I had a herd of deer piss all the way around me. I would usually set up about 45 minutes before legal shooting time.
    I miss midwest hunting.

I have used the exact scent dripper (loaded with Doe pee in early season and estrous in the rut) and it works for me. I have A lot of video over the years (and just checked camera and a buck was in scrape peeing and rubbing the branches above scrape a few days ago) of many bucks coming in regularly to check scrape and rub branches above scrape. Anyway, I use a couple every season and camera shows me it is worth using them. Just like any other hunting product, how you use the product, when you use it and where and what it is filled with will get different results. Mine were positive and the fact that i have used the same 2 drippers for 4 years straight also means they are durable and do not need to be purchased every year.

There could be a trick to it, then again deer are not dumb. I was thinking maybe a false deer piece with the stuff on it like a mock duck piece.
I don't ambush hunt but I would imagine this stuff is great for setting kill zones, given it works. But me personally, I have not ever used the stuff or any similar products. I enjoy stalk hunting, preferably small game. Don't have big game tags yet. I'll will eventually, but probably not using that stuff.

Used for nearly a decade and it's hit and miss, it might be wrong timing, wrong spot(not on a scrape line)or you got a bad batch. It's happend to me a few times when I didn't check the date on the bottle but I have taken a few 150 inchers using it in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
I use 2 of them though, I pick 1 bottle out of the 2 that the smells the "best" and I put 1 on an active scrape and make a fake one closer to my stand. Also when using any lure scent always wear rubber gloves and boots as well as a good scent killer spray and coat yourself, everything you pack with you, the package and everything inside it before you set it up.
I switched Hunters Specialties a few years ago and had much better success and they actually check those scrapes year round. They seem to get more action but no monsters until a few weeks ago when huge non-typical showed up but I'm pretty sure he's nocturnal.😢😢

I’m in my 50’s and have used these on my hunting farm for a while. They will work, but only when you use them in an established social scrape. I keep 3 opened up on my farm, and deer use the scrap year round. The only time are use the magnum, scrape, drip or type systems is when I have a buck that is working a scrape and I want to make him visit more. I really don’t think it’s the scrape as much as the licking branch that is important to the deer but a little added scent every day. In early November can make a buck daylight if he’s bedding close. Just hanging one of these on a tree near your stand will not do anything. At least for me. Your time and effort is better spent hanging a grape vine along a trail and maintaining it year-round for a couple of years. If the deer start using it, it can become a social licking branch. Once established you will get scraping activity under it. Then use something like a dripper to target a buck for a couple prime days.

Hang a woody grape vine from a rope at deer's head level, drill some holes in the vine and soak the vine in ammonia. Rake a spot under the vine. Set it up in the spring, and by October you won't believe the results. Just make sure you set it up in buck habitat not doe only habitat. Has to be in the thick stuff, on route from bedding to water.

@@WHOTEEWHOI’ve had good luck with the Code Red and Code Blue products all over middle TN. Spring Hill, Columbia, College Grove, Priest Lake, Williamsport, Gallatin, Dickson, White Bluff, you name it. I tend to only use estrous right at the rut and only use cotton wicks that I take in when I leave. Everything else is usually straight doe or buck urine. For me, they won’t drag in deer from any distance but will make those walking through more likely to go where I want them to. They will often pass right by it and then lay down their own scrape not far away. But once you have an established route and stand location, they seem to do enough naturally to make the time and investment unnecessary. Besides, who likes smelling deer piss on their hands at 4 am when reaching for a granola bar or chew? Not me.
These days, if I’m using any scent at all, it’s probably Outdoor Research Golden Buck or Golden Estrous. 🤷‍♂️

So here is a funny but it works. For early season or late. Take 2 tampons and soak 1 in apple sent and 1 in pure vanilla extract and hang them both about ten yards apart and head high. It works and it's alot cheaper. Just don't take your wife last 2 tampons 😢

I had deer (bucks, does&fawns) coming through a few particular areas on our property and i was worried about them heading over to the neighbors before i could get a shot off. The hype drew me in one day while I was in academy so i purchased the same model you got w/ the golden scrape bottle. Filled it up, hung from the tree and wata ya know... All the deer left and rarely ever come through that area again.. when they do, you can tell they're moving like on a mission. (blurry trail cam pics) ima give it to the neighbors and let them play w/ it😂

I had the same results as you in Louisiana. First time i set up my dripper I made a mock scrape near an active live scrape. Not only did i not get pictures on my mock scrape, they totally left the area with no more pictures on my camera I set up on the real scrape. I set up once more in a different location and they quit passing or using those trails too. Negative results for me. No more Golden Estrous for me.

Wanting to get a new rifle for deer season. Live in a straight wall state and looking at the ruger ranch or CVA Cascade SB in 350L. Is the CVA worth the extra $100?

Cva definitely better. Better trigger, better stock, camo stock. BUT both will shoot good.

The only thing that is guaranteed to work to get the “big bucks” is to hunt the areas where they’re at consistently. Sometimes is a simple as moving a few hundred yards of your able to

The fact that you saw deer walk through the area could indicate it may have drawn them to that area. All you need is to be able to get them in your sights, right. Who cares if they don’t give a whoot about Rolling around in it like foxes…

I have not had any luck with any magnum research products in my neck of the woods of South Carolina. Tinks is about the only one that works well for me. I did think the comment about the deer chasing the fox is funny. That is because I have used Tinks fox pee as a cover scent on my boots as a cover scent and had the deer follow it to my stand. I have used doe-n-heat by Tinks and had good luck with that. I had a friend of mine said that at a hunting club he was member of they used diesel fuel in film canisters and killed a lot of deer with doing that. He said they were having a bit of a dry spell and the guy the tended to the food plots and bush hogging the roads would see deer when on the tractor but nobody saw anything when hunting no matter what they used. Then the guy that was tending the property started killing deer and still no one else saw anything. Then my friend find out his secret hunting a stand behind him. The guy that tended to the land hand left a film canister in the stand that had a cotton ball in it soaked with diesel fuel. He set it up on the edge of the stand and in 15mins he said he started seeing deer after about 30mins. One of the biggest bucks that the club had ever taken stepped out and he was able to get a good shot on him. From then on, he used the diesel fuel and was able to fill his freezer every year. He said it work for him every time.

Sounds like a good way to ruin everyone else’s hunt to me… 😝
But if someone is tending feeders from a tractor, I suppose the smell of fresh diesel would carry further than the smell of feed and alert those in the area that there might be something waiting? Idk, it’s weird that they’d be attracted to it.

I've pretty much tried all that stuff, over the years I can only say that I felt it worked only a handful of times. I stopped using any of these scents years ago. I prefer the furry ladies to bring in the bucks. I believe that these scents are mostly synthetic or just normal deer pee, as if does come into estrus once a year, if not bred a month later. How many penned up does would these manufacturers have to have to sell millions of these bottles of "doe estrus"
