This video shows "How To Wire Ethernet Plugs The EASY way! Cat5e and Cat6 RJ45 Pass Through Connectors! And How To Punch Down / Terminate an RJ45 Keystone Jack into a Wall Plate!" Thank you for watching! 😄
If I follow the wiring format used for both the male plug and the female Jack in this video will my connection work? I have one end with the male plug and the other with the female Jack. Thanks in advance.
Excellent tutorial Mike! Years ago I used to be a LAN Administrator, can't count how many times I've had to make cables and install outlets. You have an awesome library of helpful videos!
Thanks Bob! I've done both of these videos and thought why not combine them into one quick how-to-video! Hopefully everyone will like it! Cheers my friend! 😎
Hey I’m looking to run some cat cable throughout my house. My router is in the basement (far west of house) and the my room is upstairs (far east of house). What is the best way to run those wires? Would it be thru my attic? P.S: Your video is 100/100 rating. Explained everything very well.
How will you run the ethernet from the basement to the attic? Are you running it though the floor or walls? I would try and move the router to the first floor to make it easier. Is there a reason your router is in the basement? Also remember if you join my channel membership or join my patreon you get 1 tech support question per month plus other awesome benefits. Hey ser I hope you doing great I have a fiber optic 100mb and they gave me a cable 5e cat .. but I never use it bcs I bought cat 8 to improve my connection in gaming but I feel the gameplay became much slower and a high ping Which cable do you recomande for my 100mb connection I try cat 7 also same probleme .. do you think that cat 5e is enough for me
Thanks. Will the finished product allow me to plug a router into it? Is my Xfinity router guaranteed to be a cat5e or cat6 so it will work with this wiring?
I think there's a diagram on the keystone, but either way it shouldn't matter as long as you do exactly the same thing on the other keystone jack. Consistency seems like the main priority.
@440hp5 I've done this but yes you have to be careful to make sure the wires don't slip. I would just use cat5e wall jacks to avoid any issues. Good luck
My cable carries colors other than those in the video such as pink, light green and dark green, is there an explanation for installing this type of wire?
Hope you figured this out by now but usually light green is corresponding to green striped white, same with pink and red, so forth. Pure white is usually orange striped white in my experience.
0:46 Those rubber boots get really hard over time and make it extremely difficult to remove your connector. So hard that the easily frustrated person might damage something in the connector removal. I ended up taking a razor blade to the bump protectors and cutting them all off.
The boot can be pulled back if it's really getting in the way, then reinstalled once you have successfully disconnected the cable. There are better systems for moulded cables, but the boot is your best option for making your own cables.
29 dollars jeezsh mine was 65 dollars at Menards as the other new set I bought paid 45 for them are junk, what are you talking about they're all 8 pin & 8 wire
I usually take a piece of the outside plastic or rubber coating I cut off of the end and will take it shove it up inside the clip along with the other wire then crimp it for a tighter hold and crimp.

@@wtfiswrongwithyall Yes absolutely! Thank you for watching.
T568B while common in places before, has been deprecated. T568B has never been valid in Canada, only T568A.

do i have to run 2nd wire if i want to have two wall jacks or can i just use same wire for 2nd wall jack?
Thanks. Saved me 100$ instead of calling out ATT
Followed this step by step and everything worked great thank you!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching! 😀
Thanks mike
Thanks for watching Mike! Cheers!!
Just buy a female to female wall jack and you don't have to cut any wires.
That is an option. I prefer to wire them myself. Thank you for watching!
Good idea
@@UltimateTechHub And I enjoy watching you.
Does the configuration matter? I'm not sure which one to use. The instruction shows A and B config.
@@ParkerThwips I always use the B configuration.

So much to learn.
OK so when you put the wires into the keystone jack you don't strip them. How do they make any connection?
Hope that makes sense.
You don't strip them. The wires will make the connection once you push them down with the punch down tool. Thanks for watching.
Great tips and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

Cat5e or cat6 is enough.
Since you said in the video you answer all questions - Chicken Wings or Burgers, which do you prefer?
Probably Burgers, but I really enjoy a Ribeye Steak ( medium ). See, I answer ALL questions! Lol! Thanks for watching! 😃😂
Any alternative gear you recommend? A lot of the gear you link to is unavailable.

Amazing video! But when you put brown and orange wires on the same side when you wiring on wall plate, it seems like a 568A?

can i recrimp my cable while it's still plugged in on the other house? i cant unplug it because they're on a vacation
can i recrimp my cabe even if its still connected to the other side? there's no one on where the switch is they're on s vacation so i cant unplug it
The first configuration was 568B but what was the configuration for the wall plate?
568b
Can I back feed the Internet through the phone lines after converting the phone lines?
Maybe, if the phones are not attach to the inner wall studs.
Can you use cat5e cable to install cat6 walljack?
@@440hp5 Yes
@@UltimateTechHub i read somewhere that since cat6 wire is thicker, cat5e will fit loosely when punching in the walljack
@440hp5 I've done this but yes you have to be careful to make sure the wires don't slip. I would just use cat5e wall jacks to avoid any issues. Good luck
Can I use cat 7 inside the wall? Instead of cat 6 ?
Yes.
What keystone wiring format is that? A or B?
I always use B.
@@UltimateTechHub ah I suppose it depends on the connector then? The ones I was using has this same color pattern listed as A.
@ruvimtrofimovich It does depend on the connector. Check out my most recent video on Cat6 Ethernet jacks. Those connectors are amazing.

What cable should be used to connect a computer to the router for Internet...they are on opposite ends of the house.
Cat6 is fantastic for long cable runs up to 328 feet!
