Secret Dam Never To Reopen | Little Nerang Dam

- One of the most beautiful dams in South East Queensland, is also the most secret. The site used to be a popular recreation destination, with the surroundings making for a perfect picture-postcard scene. Following the Australia Day weekend rainfall event in January 2013, the access road to the recreation area at Little Nerang Dam was closed to the public due to safety and stability concerns. An independent site assessment was conducted and as a result, Seqwater opted to permanently close the road and restrict access to its employees and residents on Little Nerang Dam Road only :(

Great video of a great dam. Lots of good memories there - step grandfather and grandmother lived there (he was one of the caretakers) there in the 1960s and 1970s when it was run by the council. We would spend school holidays/weekends up there visiting. Magic as we had access over and above public areas. Sad that it is now closed. Was a great public recreation space.

Wow 🤩. Thanks Mate you will need to park on this hidden road that doesn’t show up on maps to be able to fly within close enough distance of the dam. I can email you the exact spot because the dam closed 10 years ago, there is no other way to get there

The Springbrook waterfalls flow into this catchment then this dam flows into Hinze Dam downstream. If you go on google maps it’s easier to understand

Any idea why it’s closed ?
Because of the flooding in 2011 they decided to close it because they said it’s not safe there anymore if you search it up on google there’s a hole story about it pretty stupid I think
