  • A pair of well-polished and shined shoes truly makes a statement. It shows that you pay attention to the little details and will truly make you stand out from the crowd...in a GOOD way!
    In this video, we take you through the basic steps to achieve that nice shine on your shoes.
    Step 1 - Clean & Condition the shoes (Using leather/saddle soap is optional)
    Step 2 - Apply shoe cream
    Step 3 - Apply 1-2 light coats of a good shoe wax to entire shoe
    Step 4 - Apply very light coats of wax, mixed with water, to the toes and heels until you have achieved desired shine. *Rotating a combination of Pate de Luxe wax and Mirror Gloss Wax does an amazing job!

    I just bought a whole ton of Saphir and have been shining all my shoes with it. Fantastic stuff and it's one of my favorite pass times. Beautiful shine on those! Really brings out the chisel toe

    Lesson learned ... only put on a little of the shoe cream at a time. Made a huge difference in polishing the new Allen Edmond's I bought based on the reviews from these guys. These two characters know what they're doing.

    I am friends with the Magnanni shoe company owners ,they reside in the Columbus Ohio area and of course from Spain and Paris they are really great guys and the shoes are really quality ,I saw the name by accident so I was pleasantly surprised . I love watching your videos you are the real deal.!!!!!

    The nonsense aside, I really enjoy your channel. I can now point out your channel to friends who buy cheap shoes and complain about their quality.

    Great channel and love your videos! I'm looking for a couple of new quality horsehair brushes like the one you're using in this video. I assume you guys use and know what the good ones are since you use them all the time. Not looking for a real long one, rather the medium size like 6 or 7 inches long with a good dense horsehair on it. Thanks and keep up the great work!

    What's the quality difference between this brand and Allen Edmonds?

    • @rjgiddings
      @rjgiddings 4 роки тому

      Magnanni is a blake stitch - very common in Spain and Italy where Magnanni are crafted. Allen Edmonds is a goodyear welted stitch. Trenton or Heath could confirm it - BUT - I believe most blake stitch shoes are slightly harder to resole. Aesthetically - Magnanni is a slighly more European pointed toe, while AE is slightly more traditional rounded toe. I have several pairs of each ...love both of them.

    Thanks for the video.. question! why do i feel that it's better not to mix the Saphir Mirror Gloss with the polish wax when doing the mirror shine on the toe? would you recommend that i first do the spit shine using wax only, then after that apply separately the Saphir Mirror Shine at the top?

  • @noname4751

    I can get a deep mirror shine using Angelus polish. Lincoln polish. Even Kiwi. Not the parade gloss either. I don't need a $30.00 can of polish to do what you're doing.

    Just a question about conditioners...do you guys ever use Bickmore's Bick 4 conditioner? It seems to do a pretty good job on my shoes (Clarks and Allen Edmonds), but I don't know how it stacks up in the world of conditioners. The Sapphir Renevateur seems a little too expensive in my opinion if I'm being honest. I do, however, use the Sapphir Beaute du Cuir line of polishes, and those are both moderately-priced AND fantastic!

    For a brand new pair of shoes, would you use Renovateur, shoe cream and wax?

    • @TrentonHeath

      Nicholas Preiss You can definitely do all three of those, or you could skip the shoe cream since it’s a new pair of shoes. Either way will condition the shoes well and give protection.

    Do you dedicate brushes for different colors or do the colors of the polishes not transfer on the brush?

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  5 років тому +3

      Matt C Hello! Yes, definitely use a different brush for different colors. We usually recommend having 2-3 brushes...1 for browns, 1 for black, and maybe one for burgundy. Often times, if you don’t mind a slight patina, you can use the black brush with burgundy.

    Hello
    If i may
    Try using other color than thé original one to wax or shine, you will then obtain nice patina
    Ie : dark blue for Black shoes, dark red for brown, etc

    What do you think of the quality of Magnanni uppers and construction? I see them quite often at Nordstrom Rack and I own a pair myself.

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  5 років тому +1

      Austin Kim Magnanni’s are nice blake stitched shoes. I wouldn’t say they’re some of the nicest shoes out there, but they’re usually easy to work on, nice designs and are made from nicer materials on most of their shoes. I’d avoid the rubber sole ones.

    • @austinkim9402
      @austinkim9402 5 років тому

      @@TrentonHeath I thought they were bologna stitched?

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  5 років тому +2

      @@austinkim9402 Blake & Bologna are similar and the term Blake is often used for a bologna construction as well because a Blake stitcher is used for both. Some Magnanni shoes are Blake Stitched.

    • @pattgsm
      @pattgsm 5 років тому +3

      It's personal preference. I think some occasions call for a mirror shine especially with black shoes that pull double duty for black tie.

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  5 років тому +3

      On my everyday shoes, I’m the same way. I like my shoes to look polished but with more of a matte finish; however, in this case, the customer was wearing them to a wedding and needed that glossy look.

    • @eyeheartsushi2212
      @eyeheartsushi2212 5 років тому +1

      For matte finish just use shoe cream and brush off. You can maybe add a light coat of wax and then brush off.

    What are your thoughts with Magnanni quality?

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  5 років тому +3

      denbo74 Magnanni’s aren’t bad. The upper leathers are usually a good quality, as well as most of the materials they’re made from. We’ve worked on a lot of them, and they’re usually very easy to resole. I’m not a fan of the rubber sole ones though. If you can get them around $200ish or so, it’s not a bad buy. Some of their shoes are closer to $400, and for that price, there are better brands (Cobbler Union, J Fitzpatrick...even Allen Edmonds).

    • @denbo74
      @denbo74 5 років тому

      Trenton & Heath thanks for the reply! I have both Allen Edmonds and several Magnanni. I bought all the Magnanni on sale at $200 or less and only have leather soled versions. I’m glad to hear they are easy to resole. My Magnannis are some of their most conservative traditional designs and to be honest I like some of them better than my AEs. This is a great channel and exactly what is needed! There is so much bad and confusing info on the style forums....

    which shoes brand you would recommend

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  5 років тому +1

      sagar satpute It depends upon your price range and what you’re looking for in a shoe. We’re big fans of Goodyear welted shoes overall because they’ll last much, much longer. Everyone should invest in at least one really good pair of shoes. After that, add some blake stitched shoes to the mix. As far as overall quality goes, Allen Edmonds, Cobbler Union, J Fitzpatrick and Carmina are some of the higher end, DTC brands out there and fall within the $400-$500 price range. You can get factory second AE’s for around $250. Meermin is also a pretty nice Goodyear welted shoe for around $200. Those would all be my choices.
