I've been Flight Sinming since the Atari 130XE circa 1988 (a true old timer lol), and for decades VOR navigation (and NDBs to a lesser extent) were the "only show in town". I'm so glad VORs were incorporated into Series S/X platforms. Thanks for the video and the work you put into all your videos.
Great video. Thanks. One minor comment.....you might want to do your training video's during daylight hours as the gauges were hard to see during parts of the flight.
Great vid on traditional navigation! First one I've seen to show using two VORs to triangulate position. As for making a flight plan without GPS, it is useful. ATC has you on radar, so with an IFR flight plan, you can ask them for a vector to next waypoint. So even in remote areas with no VOR or NDB, and in bad weather, you can find your way.
Thank you for this excellent steam gage VOR tutorial. I agree that sometimes its nice to just fly with basic instruments and of course the C152 is the best example of this.
Another great video. I appreciate everything you're doing here. Would it be possible, one day, to do a complete VATSIM tutorial for beginners? The process seems quite tedious...
Great tutorial. Would it be possible to put on some light on the instrument panel so that when you go into the shade you lose all vision while sitting in the cockpit during the tutorial thanks ron
Thanks a lot; “ old style navigation” , without GPS , is beautifull

Great point, I thought it would look prettier but it came at a cost.

I’m actually working on a full series on traditional nav, mostly based around the a2a Comanche. The first part comes out in a few weeks.
Very educational
Thanks ! Student pilot here using this for real world flying, very helpful thank you
Thanks for posting VOR with traditional VOR.
I'm glad it was useful for you. I'm actually going to be doing a lot more videos around similar topics in the coming months!
@@FlightSimSchool Great!!! Thanks and appreciate your efforts.

Your explanations are incredibly clear, concise, and go to just the right depth. You explain not just "what", but "why". Really well done.
Thanks, I’m actually working on a full series on traditional navigation at the moment, the first part will be out in two weeks.
Have 95 98 windows. Love it.
Excellent tutorial, the instructions are very clear! Thank you, I love to fly with these instruments!
Thank you soooo much!! Great video and explanations as usual!
You got the origins right! ;)
Another great video.

I’m working my way up to it :) I have a lot to learn about vatsim myself.
Great tutorial. Would it be possible to put on some light on the instrument panel so that when you go into the shade you lose all vision while sitting in the cockpit during the tutorial thanks ron
Thanks Ron. I’ve been trying to zoom in more in more recent videos to address that issue.
Great video, are you from northwest Indiana I fly out of griffith
I’m from north of the border in Canada :)
Thank you for the video. Where do I find the nav frequencies prior to starting my flight? I know I probably sound like a total newbie.
I use skyvector.com, they are shown on the map.
The old style instrument airplanes are also cheaper to buy or rent.
Luckily they are all free in msfs ;)
"I won't have any way to navigate, because the C152 doesn't have GPS." You mean besides dead reckoning and VOR triangulation?
