- Is this the only 1968 Ford Thunderbird drag racing on UA-cam!? Could be! This isn't just any old Thunderbird; it is one wild ride! 521 cubic inch big block Ford, Weiand tunnel ram with a pair of Holley QuickFuel 650 CFM carbs, a lumpy Howard's camshaft, MSD 6AL ignition, MSD pro billet distributor with a two step, aluminum heads, and high compression pistons. This big inch high horsepower mill sends its power through a Cope Racing Transmissions built C6 with a Broader transbrake. Outback is a Ford 9 inch with a spool and super steep gears, which will be getting changed out soon. I explain that in this video, way too much gear! Now onto why I am making this video....
Two tons of big block fun! Forgotten in car footage of drag racing 1968 Ford Thunderbird at US 41 Dragstrip in Morocco, IN. When I say forgotten, I mean I forget to download the footage off my GoPro and add it to my original video, my bad. I am used to doing everything on my phone and recently expanded my filming technology and I need to get better at remembering that. Live and learn I guess! Anyway, I finally downloaded the footage and decided to make a quick video of a few passes I made at the track. The two passes weren't that great, as I explain in the video. That being said, drag racing is always fun and I had a blast that day! Always a blast doing smokey burnout, racing, and hanging out with good people! I hope you enjoyed the video, I will be back to racing this heavy hitter! Stay tuned!

Fun stuff
You know it 🏁
The on board coverage is excellent, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks Donald! Best to you and your loved ones too!
Looks like you'll get it sorted out with the new parts QA1 is known for their quality, so the shock failure is a surprise.
While up on the lift, check all the factory welds and suspension mounting points. Also the trans mount/ cross member. Definitely making enough power for a fast run! 😀👍
Oh we are definitely going to look if all over 😎😎😎
Nice video Big block Big fun!! Thanks for the update. Best of luck to you. It can be fixed.😎🏆
Fingers crossed man!!!!!!!

I love that car… just brute strong and big like a heavyweight power lifter. Brute force HP just shoving that car down the track! The front grill with carbs out the top makes the statement of all business.
Well said and right on! Such fun to drive!

Thanks skip 🏁🏁
I calculated 9000 ft/lbs launch torque through the Low gearset in the C6 Auto and 4.88 gears with the 521.
With 3.89 gears there will be 7000 ft/lbs launch torque.
More ideal 10.5 :1 C6 & 3.89 diff gears.
Brian, I think those 3.89s will be a game changer my friend
Nice, I think your air cleaners are restrictive it may run better without them,
I was thinking that too, next runs will be stacks
2nd gear launch 4.88 gears netted 5000 ft/lbs launch torque was present
Man you know it, makes ton of torque! We just need to get it to plant!
