I vehemently condemn any form of discrimination or hatred directed towards Chinese individuals. I had the privilege of relocating and having the ability to share my story while many of my Chinese colleagues kept quiet about their mistreatment.
workplace abuse has become normalized in various regions of China, including the highly developed city of Shanghai.
While I acknowledge that my own racial background contributed to the mistreatment I encountered in my previous job, it is imperative to note that race alone did not serve as the sole motivating factor for such mistreatment.
Part of mentioning that my HR is Chinese was to also highlight the normalization of abuse in Chinese workplaces.

That includes bullying as well. I have been advocating for both African individuals, Asian individuals and other individuals who have been subjected to racial bullying. And attempting to steal lands, or even countries that aren’t theirs. Countries they’ve attempted to steal some properties from: Vietnam 🇻🇳, Taiwan 🇹🇼, Philippines 🇵🇭, India 🇮🇳 , Malaysia 🇲🇾 and so much more. My boyfriend is Filipino, and I have other friends who are either Filipino or have studied there. I have heard similar stories from them where individuals of mixed Chinese heritage would intimidate anyone who does not share the same ethnic background as them. If someone’s pure Filipino or pure Indian for example, they’ll be bullied due to not having a half or pure Chinese blood. And take note that this occurred during the early 2000’s even before social media. There should be a diverse group of individuals dedicated to combating racial harassment. Imagine being born with an ethnic background that isn’t even your choice, you were literally born as an innocent baby only to learn about different ethnicities from school when you grow older, but as a baby and a toddler you weren’t even aware and without your knowledge there are already people around the world hating on your county’s people, that means including yourself. Remember, China also has its diverse people, a mixture of good and evil, just like any other countries.

This is the cost of integration. Cultural changes and tentative acceptance of immigrants take two generations, maybe more. The individuals who go forth first into a new culture take on a heavy price unless they are fortified with other traits that allow them to overcome the bias, discrimination, and abuse by the indigenous population. If that price is too high, then she should get out of that situation. Learn karate or some other martial art/ self defense if you want to stay.

No. Solve the root problem of why your people need to leave their countries for better opportunities. BW going with or without someone will not improve the situation for us if this happens again. The fact that her own embassy was useless highlights how they see her situation and exactly how much protection she would have if she were home. It also reflects their values that they bring with them to these countries. We get no respect as BP, and especially BW because in our home countries, we hate ourselves so much that we don't even protect each other. And I'm not about to argue this with anyone because our femicide rates, crime rates, education levels, living conditions, and overall corruption across the leadership of those countries would prove anyone trying to argue that our black home countries are safe, is full of it. Either we acknowledge the roots of our problems so we can progress, or her only options will remain taking the risk for a better life in another country, or going back home to the problems and life she left in the first place.

From experience, as a Chinese American woman who was raised by Chinese parents, I can state that these situations are the norm in that society. Chinese men are more often abusive because they can get away from it. This behavior happens because the society protects abusers and the system defends abusers and horrible people in general. It's why the suicide rate is so high in China, especially amongst women. The men in that country see their abusing others as a "basic right".

Many of the women in that society also participate in the patriarchy for privileges, so you kind of are going to have to filter people very carefully if you go over there. Also, if you are a kindergarten teacher, I suggest that you go to the public schools instead. Private schools make it extra hard for abuse to be recognized, because the school owns the cameras and could cover up for their abusive teachers and parents.

@@sopluv149 I'm not siding with the abusers. I'm merely pointing out what it's like over there. I grew up partly in China, so I can speak from experience on the society over there. My Chinese parents also set the standard as well. What they do isn't right, and I agree with that. However, please keep in mind that this is not widely known in China until very recently, because Chinese people only got access to the Internet in the last two decades. Your Western sensibility probably will seem out of place there, just so you know. I agree, it's not a good thing, but changing it to exactly the Western way of behavior isn't right either. There are just as many problems in the West with abuse as well.

@@nylotusI can’t speak for these other countries but I wouldn’t say the US is worse. Employers aren’t generally allowed to behave this way and it normally ends very badly for them if they do. Cops in the US are generally horrible to black people but even then they can’t get away with it and both groups tend to stay away from each other anyways.
The US also has safe spaces, ethnic enclaves where different groups of people can find safety. Some cities are predominantly black with black police and black businesses and they tend to be safe for black people at least in regard to incidents of xenophobia and racism.
It pains me to say but the US may be one of the least racists places in the world. It’s a big mish mash of cultures and we’ve had to learn to get along. Online I do see people from other countries are more willing to say something racist but that may just be because they’ve never had to encounter/interact with other cultures and peoples for long periods of time.
Europe is also pretty diverse, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they were also mostly well behaved. That’s what happens when you go around building empires. You have to get along with the people you spent all that time trying to force into your empire. That’s what makes it an empire and not a kingdom. Empires absorb other cultures and countries.
All of this is just in comparison to for example Japan where there are literal laws that are targeted against foreigners. China isn’t Japan but considering it’s very similarly mono-ethnic (there's multiple ethnicities but in the sense that all those ethnicities are native to the region) I wouldn’t be surprised if the general attitude was to keep foreigners out or not interact with them. This all an over generalization but I do think it’s clear that the US is still a much better place for foreigners and immigrants.

When you aren't in your country you are susceptible to labour abuse. This is a perfect example of what staying on code looks like. As a blk american, i will say this is nowhere close to shocking or surprising. I wish people would stop using words like this because it’s known for a long time that our people no matter where we are on the planet will be hated by everyone. Even our own people will hate each other for the dumbest reasons. But everyone else hates us for simply having a darker skin tone. So going to places like china as a blk person from anywhere in the world should automatically tell you as a blk person, you will never be treated wholeheartedly like the locals of their country regardless of how nice you are, friendly you are, how much you come in peace and no matter how unproblematic you are. You simply just existing is enough for people like the chinese to hate you. Idk why our people don’t understand that we are the most hated group of people on the planet no matter which continent we come from and were born in. Blk americans have been pointing this out for decades, but yet our own from other continents/countries still ignore us and think we are over exaggerating when we say THEY HATE US and always will. Not say all, but a majority either have hate and such disdain for us and not show it, or will blatantly show it to our faces.

Even private schools are actual schools and are still regulated by the government much much more than a business is. The only "horror" stories I heard from public school or things that were not illegal or against moel. They were more like unfortunate things like something going wrong with the apartment and then the employee expecting the school to take care of it when literally it's not the school's job to do that nor is it in the contract and it's not against moel. meanwhile hagwons are not paying their employees and verbally abusing them. Although not all, hagwon owners realize there's a chance they could get away with that whereas with public (or private) it would be pretty impossible to do that.

Asian men are notorious for being abusive to women, even in public. In addition, work places can be very toxic. What’s even worse is that being a foreigner means not getting the support that you need. They are very loyal to their own. That’s why they’re so successful in the west. They stick together.
I’m not sure if this is race based, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it also played a factor.
I am so sorry this has happened to you. I truly hope you start having better experiences abroad. I also hope you get the justice that you deserve.
Edit: Notorious means in the eyes of the public. Does it mean that something is true bc it is notorious? No, it doesn’t. My first paragraph comes from reports that I’ve heard myself in Asian media, documentaries, and from Asian women. I’ve also seen plenty of videos of Asian men pounding on women in public.
All this to say, every race of men has something that they are notoriously known for. It is what it is. No group is perfect, and we can’t shy away from mentioning potential problems in order to not hurt feelings.

Unfortunately it looks like you've run head first into the dark side of the Chinese state. Because exposing your abusers would make China look bad, they're going to do everything to ensure your story never sees light of day, threaten you and gaslight you endlessly. Law enforcement will always stand on the side of the guy who hit you. This is the system that most Chinese experience every day. Now you know why so many want to leave it.

@AngelaMatshoge-re7ornah we should keep having empathy and apologizing to ppl because they will never get them from the people who hurt them.
Example, i still hate police. But some police officers have apologized for another’s actions towards me before. So that does make me feel better, and I can confidently say sometimes officers do act right. Instead of not believing that, due to them offering me apologies. I will always apologize if I feel it’s necessary in order to let a person know, what happened was not okay, and other people know that too.
