This is great Holly, so many people fail to warm up/cool down properly and think that a circuit or two of walk is sufficient to then peel around. When I was a kid my mum would literally pull me off my pony if she saw me not warming up properly. Such an important element in either the school or hacking!
Dali doing really well for his age been watching you for a while your a great rider one of my favourite I love all your horses but my. heart is for Bali and welbek cannot wait to see how far Dali goes I think he got a great jump on him nothing seems to scare him take it in his stride like you said love your dad love from jersey channel inland ❤️💕
Khal looks to have a lovely canter. He stays really balanced and doesn't run away from you like lots of young horses would. You've done such a great job bringing him into work! Thank you for making videos like this, very helpful 👍
Im so sorry to hear that i though you would still be able to go to the barn isnt there a system where one person at the barn for a hour and the trainer if so thats what my barn is doing right now? Again so sorry
I think the most important beneficial thing you’re doing for your horses’ health - mental and physical - is keeping them turned out in a large pasture with other horses. You should do a video about that!
Brilliant video as always Holly and brilliant to hear all of the things you talk about in your pre-ride routine. All stuff that I've been taught too and so good for your horses well-being!
One of my favourite videos Holli! I feel like I learned so much! I’m going to look into those ice boots for my 22 year old mare. She gets stocked up easily and I think they would really help her! Thanks Holli! ☺️
one of the horses at my barn loves stretching, he was stretching his neck down while we were trotting and i actually had to bring his head up so he didn’t kick his jaw! 😂 he’s very weird, but he is a thoroughbred arab cross so...
How do you get Khal to stretch so low? He seems to love it too! He’s become my favorite horse of yours, I just love his personality and his disposition. I love your videos so much! ❤️🐴
I am wanting anyones opinion! Hi i am aware this is slightly irrelevant but how often should i lunge per week? I have chosen not to ride in the lock down so am lunging with loose vienna reins. He is 20 but good topline and general fitness. Wwyd?
I wouldn’t really lunge more than every second day as it can put a lot of strain on them. You could switch it up with long reining though so you’re not going in circles but instead driving the horse around the arena and even down any fields etc you might have ☺️
@@HollyLenahanSJ thanks so much for replying. I was being on the cautious side and only lunging once a week but i will up it slightly. Thanks for the tip about long reigning. I was also doing trick training to mix it up but i will add that into the mix. Xxx
If showjumping doesn't pan out, you've got a great sniffer horse on your hands
Hahah I could always hire him out to airports if I was ever stuck 😂
Haha!😂 love it!🐎
Khal is just so classy he even goes truffle hunting when he's warming up, he's just so funny and adorable 🐱
Hahaha maybe he’ll make me some money finding truffles! 😂

I definitely agree! It’s something that any level of rider can include in their riding ☺️
Thank you for keeping us sane in Lockdown! You’re an amazing rider x

Khal is absolutely adorable! Will you do a video about what’s going on with Welbeck?
A video on welbeck will hopefully be coming in the next few weeks if I have good news 😉

Awh thank you! He’s the sweetest boy ❤️
He trails his nose along the ground like he's going to roll 😂
I also thought he was going to roll, but no, just wants to wander around like that 😂
Brilliant video as always Holly and brilliant to hear all of the things you talk about in your pre-ride routine. All stuff that I've been taught too and so good for your horses well-being!

When you said he puts his head down long and low I didn’t know you meant like that ! He is harrowing the arena for you 🤣
This was awesome, thanks Holly 👌🏻👍🏻🥰 Also can’t believe how stretched out in the warm up Khal gets....he’s amazing !! 😍
Thank you! ☺️
Hi holly I was wondering if you could make a video on how to build up a horses fitness I would find that really helpful and interesting😃

I love u Holly🥰❤️
My mare has laminitis, sweet itch and a hoof infection 😂🤦🏻♀️
What is sweet itch? And how did she contract all of that😂
OMG!!! Is that the sun I see???😂😂😂 Of course the weather is gorgeous when we are in isolation and can't go anywhere 😂
I know right! So typical 😂
@@HollyLenahanSJ 😂
What girth do you use, loved the video ☺️
It’s from le mieux ☺️
Kahl is going so good well done your such a good rider how's dali
Thank you ☺️ Dali is brilliant! He’s been going really well lately! He’ll be in my next video 😉
@@HollyLenahanSJ ah I'm soo excited
He's so sweet to drag his nose on the floor like that 😍
I know, what a sweet wierdo 😂
Holly, did you have to flee Belgium? Or were you already supposed to be back in Ireland before the Corona crisis?
I haven’t been in Belgium since last summer ☺️
I thought you'd be there this spring too? Am I a year behind? 🤣
Ah no, that was a once off thing. I did placement in Belgium for college, but I actually graduate in May so no more placement needed!
Love this 💗💞💖
How do u get him to trot low and long
Awesome jumping!
He is such a silly boy
I don’t like being early there’s no comments to read :/
Do you feed Khal everyday or only when you ride him?
During the winter they get fed every day, but during the summer only when I ride (but I ride 6 days a week so it’s still almost every day) ☺️
his nose in the sand 😂😂 love khal 💗
How long do you usually ride, with warm up and cool down?
Depends if I jump or not, maybe 40mins to 1hr if you include the warm up and cool down ☺️
Khal corners so handily-very balanced.
I’m early !
Holly:I’m just doing flat work
8 minutes into the video all ready jumping
As I said in the video, those jumping clips were from last weekend. I did do flatwork the day the tacking up clips were filmed.
Holly Lenahan oops sorry didn’t catch that😕
Why doesnt khal have shoes? x
No reason in particular :)
Does khal have shoes?
Not at the moment :)
What is the highest you have jumped with khal?❤️
I’ve never really pushed him, I think around 1.35 ☺️
Do you hack your horses much at all Holly? X
Yup, they go for a hack once a week! ☺️
oh shit I'm early
👀
Are you Irish?
Wait why does cal literally look the exact same as my 13.2 pony jack and when you r describing cal I’m like yep that’s what jack does 😂
