I thought it looked familiar when I saw it, buy it, crowd fund it, Geoffle it!
Ah that would be hilarious! There's some tasty stuff in the auction to be fair.
So cool that this one was found. I hope it finds an owner that restores it and brings back it's full beauty. This car really deserves it.
Need to do one on finding all the Sapphire Cosworth Police cars.
Yes, Epynt is in Wales, it's pronounced 'eppint' and much of the area now forms the MOD Sennybridge training area. Great vid by the way.
Your part 1 vid is the reason i started following you. This is really interesting thank you. I love to see these cars restored back to how they should look.
Them Sparco alloys are blummin gorgeous in white. 😍
Wow, that is rare. The police wrote most of them off.
That’s a cool car, awesome history too.
Hello Geoff, I sadly don't have anything helpful to add to this discussion on the real Escort Cosworth police cars but I do want to mention a fun fact that these cars were featured as unplayable police cars in Test Drive 4, 5 and 6, on road courses located in the UK in all 3 games, and Germany and Switzerland for the TD 5 PlayStation version. They're modelled after the wingless version of the Cosworth and the number plate LNWx is present in TD 5 but very hard to read, and from my understanding, the liveries go as follows: TD 4 car was based on M982GAT, the TD 5 car was based on N693LNW (as referenced by the number plate) and the TD 6 car was based on M969PRM. I'm not sure if you're into car racing video games but it's a quite cool to see these cars in those games, and in fact I believe they were only featured in these games.
Remember seeing a Ford capri 2.8 injection police car back in the late 80s early 90s. Only ever seen that one in Manchester.
There was a corgi model done of it. I have that model and it looks good in police form.
Manchester had a fleet of Capris, mainly ending in KVM on the reg plates. They were replaced in 1990 ish with the Sapphire Cosworth & Sierra XR4x4. Scalextric have done a capri model & there’s a genuine GMP Capri doing the show circuit.
A work colleague had one of these and was constantly being stopped by police and tie wrapped until he proved it was his! Hi Poggy if you are reading this.
Love these series of videos so interesting 👍🏻
That bonnet damage, reminds me of an old neighbours car that had similar damage due to when he knocked a person over, that was also an Escort
The volvo looks really nice now top job
Ain't it just! It's lovely.
@@GeoffBuysCarsabsolutely gorgeous!
Next step to this video: find an ex cop who drove a cossie and interview him! 🔥👌
2:42 That motor is a thing of absolute beauty, recently realized why modern cars have plastic covers under the bonnet, i got an Alfa 159, it has the 1750 Tbi motor, while it's fantastic (200bhp as standard, re-mapped to 240bhp) the engine is an ugly, ugly thing, really is horrible looking. Also while it has 240bhp it doesn't really feel that quick, had a shot of a Lancia Delta Evo back in the 90's and that thing was just Bonkers, was stock so 210bhp (i think ?), it just dug in and pinned you right into the seat.
Still not seen anything about the dark grey one that was an undercover for Merseyside Police force. I was pulled over on Dale street outside the magistrates court by it while driving my xr2. Sure that was early 1996 as i had just got that car
Sadly other than a few comments like yours, I got nothing on that car :-/
If anyone reading is in the area WB have an open day the sunday before the auctions, there's always some very nice classics turn up and the coffee is great 👍
Is this car hpi clear, this car was involved in a front end accident, it was badly damaged, engine was replaced, and underside was damaged to, I owned this car , sold it, as lost hart

@@GeoffBuysCars I’ll have a look at weekend on an old laptop, dig photos out see if I still have them , and sale letter I made buyer sign
I love your jumper ❤
My local classic car auction that get some good gear in they do!!
Auctions are the one thing that's singlehandedly ruining the car hobby for future generations. A deal is where both sides walk away happy (And is the only form of business that I know and take part in) , but just making potentially every car suddenly an 'appreciating classic' just walls off the car hobby and makes it the preserve of a lucky few. Plus when you sell your car to another enthusiast, you preserve the lineage of the chain of ownership, not always possible with an auction
Love it.
Happy to make this 100 👍’s
love the Police Volvo 😊
Another fella from Newcastle way was ona bout this car on the weekend on here.
west cumbria police had 3 over the late 90's, as well as subaru's an evo's😅
Just seen this on Adam Smith channel
L255YNL used to be owned by a guy I know, no idea where it is now though
Geoff 1988 Stretford ford service centre manchester had about 25 cars in for service all cosworths ,and police cosworths cars as well the manger told the recepionist to out at 5pm and remove the keys from the expensive cars so dhe did and left all the keys in the police cars cosworths , That night salford was a race track then they all got burnt out in the end . its in the manchester evening news archives , and a world rally team came to manchester with there world rally cars and yes they got stolen a raced around manchester .
I would be less surprised if this happened in Liverpool
Ha. What a great story. Wouldn't have liked to have been that secretary the morning after that little lot.
Can you do a video on a lotus Carlton. Reg no 40RA. Stolen from Worcester and never recovered
There's a few videos already out there, the best being on a channel called something like Curious & Spiritual. Apparently the car was recovered and spent some time in a police impound. Then sold and put back on the road running a different registration number. There's pictures online of the Lotus Carlton on a recovery truck in a very sorry state. The original owner kept the plate 40RA, and it was last seen on a modern Hyundai.
@@matthewgodwin3050 I’ve seen a number of videos on it and also seen those photos and others as well. I haven’t been able to find anything with statements from people involved though. And I never really trusted weather or not those photos were staged as it looked battered but still had the plates on🤷🏽♂️ I will look at that particular video , thanks 🙏🏻
@@bentyrrell8083 The available information is very limited sadly. I've been intrigued by this car for years, and would love someone like Geoff to do an in-depth video on it too. Would especially love to hear from original and current owners. That would be awesome.
That would be a bit too pricey for us that run Bangernomics motors.
There is a rarer more affordable rare Escort of this era that sort of has sporting credentials. The Escort Mexico edition.
If you bought it would you keep it original or restore it?🤔
No sunroofs on ex Police cars🤔
Solid engine mounts … that’ll be a horror 🤮
But is it ULEZ compliant?
K740EHK = NO
K434CAX = NO

What is the shit on the bonnet?
Is that big tray on the back for the cops to eat their truncheon meat.
You should be on the stage mate, there's one leaving in an hour.😉
It's somewhere to feed the birds while the motor and brakes cool down.
1:38 What is rims name?
I believe they are O.Z. Racing Superturismos, or some variant of it.
I wish i had the money i love the Ford Escort Cosworth maybe in my next life cheers
Adam Smith is all over this. I think he will end up divorced if be buys this one.......
Owning is is like owning a prostitute who has only ever had one boyfriend one owner but used by many
this was before the rainbow police were invented.
It needs some help!
That's a shed, avoid
It’s so rough……….. 🤮 careful bidding guys……
Surprisingly low mileage considering ex-job cars.

He'd love it I reckon.
They are not that good of a car TBH and iv drove one like it was Stolen
And a calibra turbo or celica gt4 was a million times better was it ?
