    I just made a visit to Jet Hot up in Burlington and dropped off a set of used headers and a Y pipe. Brian, one of the sales guys, showed me the complete process that my headers will go through. Nice facility. I had a set of headers done for my Corvette almost 8 years ago and they still look new. I can't wait to see the results of these headers and how they will perform and look on our rebuilt 383 small block that we're putting in a 3rd gen Camaro. Thanks for the tour, Brian. See you in 3 weeks.

I've been thinking about having my headers, downpipe and manifold jet-hot coated and this is just making me more comfortable with the cost. I'd like to see this done again with no exhaust wraps also compared. The wraps themselves are insulators so the heat has nowhere to conduct to (especially after you've stopped the bike) except to the rest of the exposed components. So you'll get abnormally high heat in the flanges, head, sensors, etc. I'm curious how close the stock pipes get to the coated pipes. In theory they should actually radiate far more heat than the ceramics.
    With the mirrored ceramic coating on there, you'll have a lower radiation absorption, and a moderate emissivity. Which means that the heat will be retained mostly by the gas. This should increase backpressure and decrease performance. So a dyno run of all 3 configurations would be interesting.
    another test you could do is paint the outside of the headers black, which would increase radiation, therefore cooling down the hot gases of your exhaust much more which should yield an increase in performance, and decrease in engine temps

    Just stumbled across this great video. I've been looking at Jet-Hot for a long while now and I'm a little concerned about fitment problems and possible issues with fuel/Oxygen mix ratios after coating. My mechanic has suggested I avoid coating the area near the slip fittings but It looks like Jet-Hot coats everything. Should I be concerned about my ECU mapping or fitment if I were to have my exhaust done or am I just over thinking this? I ride a 2016 Ducati Scrambler, which does run hot.

    • @BradTheMaddMan
      @BradTheMaddMan  2 роки тому +1

      Excellent question. You should have absolutely no problems, whatsoever. The coating is thin enough, that it makes no noticeable difference in fitment at all. Thanks for commenting and of course, for watching -Maddman

      @@BradTheMaddManSo, I pulled the trigger and got my exhaust ceramic coated around October 2023 and I finally got the opportunity for a ride last weekend , June 2024 in 80 degree weather in stop and go traffic. I can say for sure that I’ve noticed a significant difference at stop lights and just overall reduced heat output. I don’t have any measurements to share unfortunately but it wasn’t even something I fully realized until after I got back home. I would definitely recommend Jet-Hot coating for any rider looking for more comfort around the thighs on hot days, especially if you happen to ride a Ducati Scrambler which run hot! They were very responsive and answered all my questions during my lengthy fact finding faze. One downside? They never followed up with me after this project was completed and returned to my mechanic. About two weeks turn around time.
      Everything was coated inside and out, packed extremely well and looks fantastic but it would have been nice to get a call. (4.5 stars)

    what difference does it make if your pipes get discolored? leave the wrap on and you don't have to see it. the only thing that should be of concern is if the metal structure is becoming compromised.

    • @BradTheMaddMan
      @BradTheMaddMan  4 роки тому

      That's the thing, the wraps hold moisture and that moisture will rust the header. Especially if kept outside. -Madd Man

    • @michaelweston2285
      @michaelweston2285 4 роки тому

      @@BradTheMaddMan some wraps can hold moisture. there are wraps you can put on dry and spray a silicone sealant over that keeps moisture out. but the pipes blueing has nothing to do with that and isn't an indicator that the structural integrity is being weakened. this is purely a cosmetic thing that doesn't matter if you keep the wrap on.

      @@baby-sharkgto4902 I'm having a Harley header pipe done right now. My reasons for getting it done was for the lower temperatures. I could have picked any color, but I went with the polished look. You probably won't be able to see 5% to maybe 8% of my pipe when installed, but being coated and polished inside should help with the flow as well. It's very impressive to see in person.
