This is a followup video on • Mirror's Edge Catalyst...
Even if this can't really be considered doable, I decided to release the footage anyways since so many of you keep asking me if there is a way to reach the very top of Glass!
I am working on speeding this up making it human viable!

Here's the scenario:

Usable ladders are there probably because the developers got plans for something to happen in-game at the very top but went against it in the end and blocked the entire section altogether.
Or perhaps they simply copypasted one of the lower sections.

This game looks great and all but the fact that you can’t get up there unless you’re using exploits really says something. A game about parkour and freerunning where you can climb nearly anything in an open world doesn’t openly allow you to climb the TALLEST building in the game? Isn’t that what everyone would want to do?
It isnt the tallest tower, there is a building called the shard that is like 2 km high or something, and you can get very close to where he is in a fully intentional mission

Maybe this was intended to be in-bounds but they changed it mid-development, hence the usable ladders and solid objects here and there.
I think that the ladder entities are all usable, so nobody bothered changing it to an untouchable prop when they set up the scene up there, cause nobody thought somebody would actually get up there. As you're building a scene like this one, you are given the assets and manipulate them as you want, but you aren't given the option list in order to make them not usable.
and they also make the world so that you can view it without glitches when you're in the game's "bounds". So at the top, you can see all the game's inner cogs and wheels

I never understood the logic of these surfaces in action games, where on our character moves on his own, against our will. Still we can control it here.
UA-cam works in mysterious ways, this is suddenly in my recommended though I've never seen a Zen video or a Mirrors Edge video.

0:56 k Bois, this is what we call wall gliding, so first of all crouch in a frog position and then break the matrix with your calculator, and there you have it, u can cross any wall with this neat trick.
The usable ladders were probably not made usable on purpose. It's very likely it's a prefab, a type of objects that combines elements together like doel, texture, collision and scripts so they can easily be placed and to ensure consistency when something needs to be changed about the object. This also explains why a lot of out of bounds surfaces are solid.

It’s weird that it’s just a game but the atmosphere when you climb up that high is that good it still makes you uneasy.

Love both the mirrors edge games. The style and lush music and atmosphere are great and remind me a lot of my travels in Hong Kong a few years ago hiking alone up to the top of lion rock and looking across to the peak and down on the city below.

maybe you were originally supossed to be able to get up there, and they forgot to remove some things like the ladder
If anything the ladders that they placed there weren't just an visual objects, but the actual ladders being used in the free roam by default. So they placed these ladders there as a visual but didn't bothered to disable their functionality.
They weren't meant to be used, so it didn't matter.

Probably just had that functioning ladder prop and didn't want to make unusable ladders. Didn't play the game, but I don't think there are any unusable ladders.
