randy95023 - I’m an RN, worked in nursing homes for about 20 years. I just loved when I was able to talk to a vet and have them tell me about WWII. Also talk to those who immigrated over afterwards, asked a lot of questions of what it was like etc.
It’s too bad I didn’t write it down or have a recorder. I don’t come across many WWII vets any more. Heroes all of them!!!

Both of my grandfathers served in WW2. Dad's dad was too old to serve overseas so he worked at a then army air corps base. Mom's dad was a Captain and company commander in the 36th Division. He told me so many stories when I was a little kid. Like meeting General Patton TWICE! lol. And scary stories as well. He won the silver star, bronze star, and 2 purple hearts. I wouldn't be the man I am today if it wasn't for him being a major influence in my life.

Two of my Grandpas served in WW2, even though they were older guys with families. 6 uncles served and 5 were wounded. 4 had permanent disabilities from their wounds but thank God none were KIA. Born in the 50's I knew a LOT of WW2 vets as a child. Several of my cousins have served with honor but I never served. I graduated high school a few weeks after the fall of Saigon so only my older cousins went. I would have but am glad I didn't have to. It's different now days. Few guys join up.

My dad never served, I dont know why, but my brother enlisted in the ‘70s near the end of Viet Nam.
My father in-law started in the army but transferred to the air force and was a Lieutenant. He was a navigator on a bomber in the pacific during WWII, (not the same as these Combat episodes) I have some of his letters, photos, and stuff from then, but unfortunately my husband passed away so he can’t tell me what all of the stuff is about. It’s interesting to go through.

Well, I hope Kirby had a good laugh, because now, if he's still alive, he's way older than any of them. We all get old eventually, so it's nothing to laugh at.

The Army needs to give Caje some stripes. He's killed more Nazis and showed more leadership than any other Private in the squad. ( Kirby needs stripes too.... yeah, he talks a lot, but he's no coward, and has done his share too! ) Promotions are slow in that neck of the woods! Dang, and with all that Saunders has been through, he's still a Buck Sgt.

    • @onslought2

Kirby will loose his stripes the first time out at the bar.

Ever notice how Caje moves at 110% every time he is ordered to do so? And does so without whining or a grimace? The man is a perfect soldier. He should be corporal or sgt at least by now.

ccsra5 - Thank you for your thought, and I’m sorry to hear about your dad too. I really don’t like when families act that way to each other.
I have been very blessed that my family has always stuck together (so far) no matter what.
It’s really nice that your nephew get military pistol.

Please send more of the show COMBAT. I enjoy the show. I'm a veteran. I've made the Congress with Sentor Durbin regarding a debit card for non-income citizens. This would end the brutal counsleor system. I reported their refusal to assist Veteran's via simple business administration paper work. I reported the appointment abuse last April and was ignored at the time by Shenseki.

3:17 UNTILL WE DON´T FIX BAJONETTS - as a well informed fan once had stated, in WORLD WAR II the soldiers did not had standard rifles with fittable Bajaonetts. That model came up in the Korean War. So this script must have been written by someone who did not had authentic WORLD WAR II experience

John Christy age is relative. My dad and brother were unequaled in their hard daily jobs even when they were 60. They had unbelievable strength and vision. Sooo age restriction is silly.

No such thing as "non-combatant status" as you describe (older soldiers) during any war unless there's a temporary disability (those with a permanent disability are discharged) or a non-combat MOS. If you are in the military, you are first and foremost a combat soldier/sailor/airman.
