considering that this was a bunch of college kid's project, with a small budget and lack of resources, it is a very good film. It is right up there with Eastern European direct to VHS low budget makework projects, like Hail the Battle of the Glorious Hero's Liberation of People's Republic of Turdistan from Nazi Devildog Invaders (director's cut). Good luck to the production crew of The Hill in your new career in the fast-food industry.

I'm not going to list every huge mistake in this crime against humanity, but I will list some suggestions in case the creator(s) of it decide to do something like this to people again, and in case they read these comments: 1. Officers don't salute enlisted men (they wait until the enlisted man salutes, then they return that salute). 2. No one salutes in a combat zone (unless they are intentionally trying to signal to a sniper who the officer is). 3. Soldiers did not have sideburns extending below the bottoms of their ears or hair that went over their ears. The "Major" is the most scraggly character of the whole cast and doesn't look or act like an officer at all. 4. The only time one is allowed to salute with something (like a cigarette) in one's right hand is NEVER! When carrying a rifle one may salute by presenting arms as outlined in the Soldier's Handbook (FM 21-100). I realize that the major wasn't saluting when he put his hand against the middle of the front of his helmet, but that was this film's version of a salute, and is just as unacceptable as if it had been a correct salute. 5. A salute is not rendered by placing the index finger of the saluting hand in the middle of the forehead as if to shield one's eyes from the sun. It's done by touching the right end of the right eyebrow with the tip of the index finger of the saluting hand. When saluting while wearing a helmet, one touches the edge of the helmet above the right end of the right eyebrow with the right forefinger. If these guys don't know that very basic part of military conduct, then they're obviously lousy re-enactors as well as lousy film actors. 6. There was no Secretary of the Army until the National Defense Act of 1947 took effect. Prior to that, the cabinet position over the military was the Secretary of War. 7. There is no such thing as the "Congressional" Medal of Honor, so no official letter would have used that terminology. 8. Enlisted men address officers as "Sir" (or "Ma'am," as the case may be). 9. A man that gets shot in the thigh and is evacuated to a hospital DOES NOT return to combat the very same day, and certainly not walking without a limp. 10. Actually there was a camouflaged uniform for U.S. troops In Europe,But it was only briefly used during the summer of 1944 an was later taken off the line after more than several friendly fire incidents where soldiers mistook the men wearing them as German SS troops.
That could also be the case in this movie but I have seen in some photos of Normandy 1944 were a few men are wearing a U.S. army camouflage pattern that was intended for the campaign in Europe.
truth^ They were actually used in the Normandy campaign as well, although camo was more akin to Marines the army did issue it to a few companies around the time of operation overlord.

Attention to detail is lacking, and as much as I dislike nit-picking, things like sideburns on a Major, the mismatched gear and 3 stripes on the medic, while possible, isn't probable. A bit more time getting details goes a long way in any military film. Spend the extra time next time out and the final product will shine. It's just plain worth it. Study some film and read a few books to get the little things right and the big things fall into place. Still entertaining, but it could have been better with more attention to detail.
COMNENT 13: Final assault faulty - Need to at least study infantry tactics to emulate them on film. One those squads should have laid down a base of fire while the other advanced. The advancing squad shoots for and objective or set time drops and lays down a new base of fire so that the origial squad laying down fire now advances past the squad firing. This leap frog advance keeps the enemies head down and allows you to advance
This small of a unit and they have a bazooka, 3 thompsons two rifles and a b.a.r. and no other gear what ?? Well it was interesting enuff for me to watch the whole thing.
COMMENT 14: The yelling WWI charge from the woods might have worked coming out of the trenches but not against MP-44 and MG-34 fire. Good job with the MP-44 by the way.
I can find no evidence that the 2nd infantry division served with (integrated with) the 101st abn. Jeep was marked 101ab-502-f-4 #4 vehicle of fox company (2nd battalion) 502 abn infantry regt.
2nd ID didn't wear camo. 2nd Armored Division, did. Along with some guys from the 30th ID. After some embarassing friendly fire incidents, they ditched the camo pattern.

I don't like to be critical and like to encourage people, but it would benefit any future military projects to consult someone with some military background and WWII infantry squad tactics, uniforms, and jargon.
Americans in WWII did not call distance in kliks. That's from Nam. Andrew R. I made it to 1:47. I was actually pulling for these college kids to pull this off and they did their best, but...sigh, the sergeant squatting on the hillside waiting to ambush an oncoming enemy unit with a damned lit cigarette in his hand finally sent me over the edge. The Americans didn't have bayonet lugs on their 30 carbines in 1944 either. Good catch on the Sturmgeweher.
you are correct
Liked it well done.
COMNENT 13:
Final assault faulty - Need to at least study infantry tactics to emulate them on film.
Wow that's great
COMMENT 14:
The yelling WWI charge from the woods might have worked coming out of the trenches but not against MP-44 and MG-34 fire.
It is more like brothers in a band, a garage band that is
Lol the medic kills a dude for literally no reason, kind of violates his role as a non combatant as he was not threatened.
ua-cam.com/video/cNyUxl0MXWQ/v-deo.html ; War reenactment of the DIA-D in Santander beach plus videos of Parachute Warfare Day and Landing on the beach
this is sad but very good well done
Good effort. Better than some Hollywood productions I've seen! Ignore the nay sayers.
Very well done... kept my interest. My only criticism is that the uniforms looked a little too "clean" for a grungy battlefield.
The worst acting I've ever seen 'Like Band of Brothers and The Pacific' my backside!!
I don't like to be critical and like to encourage people, but it would benefit any future military projects to consult someone with some military background and WWII infantry squad tactics, uniforms, and jargon.
Which part you mean like band of brothers or the pacific, I don’t feel a little
Guess the major didn't want to cut his sideburns prior to shooting the movie.
Nah, that smoke coming out of those bushes won't tip anybody off. And yeah, that "unleash hell" thing was just plain embarrassing. Vietnam 69-71.
And such nice clean uniforms. Everyone looked like they'd just had a shower, after one day, hell after one hour you'd be a mess.
the term "kilometers and/or "Klicks" was used in WWII...spellled with "K" not "C"
i agree with you this isnt a bad short film considering its like a Homemade one or "B" rated production...better than what i could do lol
Awesome
