In this video, Jorge shows users how to reset an Interlogix Simon XT Panel to factory default settings. This will do a couple of things. Any user codes that are programmed with the panel will be removed. The Master, Installer and Dealer Codes will be restored to the default. All zones will be wiped.
A user can default the Simon XT by pressing and holding the four buttons beneath the LCD display screen while the system is being powered on. These buttons are labeled "Doors + Windows", "Motions", "Disarm" and "Status". By pressing and holding all of these button while the system is powering on, a factory default will occur.
One of the most common reasons to factory reset an Interlogix Simon XT is to obtain the Installer Code for the system. If a user doesn't know the Installer Code, defaulting the system will restore the Installer Code to 4321 so that the user can get into programming. The Master Code will also be restored to its default of 1234. If there were any other codes programmed with the panel, they will be deleted and no longer work with the system.
But a user should avoid having to default their system unless they absolutely have to. Defaulting the system will delete any sensors that have been programmed. While this can be useful if the user is taking over the system from someone else, it will be very inconvenient to have to reprogram all of their sensors otherwise. But this can potentially be the only solution if the user has lost their Installer Code. Before resorting to a factory reset, a user may want to try the default code of 4321.
Additionally, any settings that were adjusted with the system will be reset to their default. In other words, a user will need to reprogram their system in its entirety after performing a default. This includes any communication settings that had been adjusted with the Simon XT System.
Note: There is a field in panel programming called "Phone Lock". This feature is set to "Off" by default, however, if it is enabled, a panel default will not affect the following settings: account number, dealer code, code length, call wait cancel setting, phone numbers 1 and 2, phone report modes 1 through 4, phone lock, downloader phone number, and downloader code.

I know this is a year old but; we moved into a house about a year ago and it has one of these panels installed. We never touched it or used it because we have dogs and live in a nice area but it would chirp when a door was open and that was all. Well today it started to chirp multiple times when the doors were opened and we didn't know the code. I googled how to master reset the panel and your video was the first one. It was well put together and very professional, and exactly what we needed to do. And I'm not sure if you ever reached the topic in your video because as soon as I hit the 2 tabs on top the screemer at the panel went off and we had to try and figure out how to unpower. Idk if you will ever see this but I'm writing this half deaf at 1am and I probably woke up my whole neighborhood yelling afterwards. Good video though. Thumbs up 👍

HI Jaret, yes, these all in one panels have a tamper which is always enabled. When you open the panel, the tamper goes off. It sounds as though when you opened yours the system may have been armed (the difference between an alarm sound, and a trouble sound when you open the system). I'm sorry you had issues, but I'm glad the video was helpful to you. If you ever decide you want to set up this, or any other, system I hope you'll keep us in mind. We can help you DIY. You'll wind up with a better system that you're intimately familiar with. You'll never be afraid of your own system at 1:00 am again!

Good video. I found a complete system at a thrift store (for 99 cents) that I plan to use in an outbuilding on my property.

Hi, I just bought a house and it came with this system. Off course, the seller doesn't remember the dealer code and it's not the default, unfortunately. Do I need to do a factory reset and does that mean I have to reprogram all 20 + sensors and zones?? Or should I just buy a whole new system?

Hi SurferHawa, Unfortunately when you perform a default of the panel, ALL settings are removed and set back to factory defaults which includes deleting all sensor information. All the sensors will have to be re-enrolled into the system to function. This will clear the installer and master codes allowing you to now enter programming and operate your system.

How do you delete the dealer code? This doesn’t change it and I don’t know what it is

@Bryce Alarm Thanks, yeah, I bought it of eBay as New/Open box. It appears like it was never installed, but someone must have changed the dealer code and engaged the phone lock. The seller had no idea who programmed it as they had bought it from a liquidator. The seller just refunded me, so I just ordered an XTi-5 that is truly new and set to factory defaults. I know my current monitoring company could not reprogram my old Brinks/ADT alarm, years ago. I'd been paying $30/month and switched to another company that charged a fraction of that (and better service). It was worth upgrading the alarm. The reason I bought this alarm was my old Simon XT needed a battery. I'd changed it before with no problem but this time when I unplugged the transformer it made weird noises and was activating the remote siren. After changing battery and plugging in, it was completely dead. So I got the eBay one, programmed all the transmitters, only to find it cannot be monitored! So I'll upgrade to the XTi-5 as I am told I can keep the old transmitters.

What if I don't know where mine is plugged into?

It's best to either unplug it, or if you can find the correct breaker, turn it off at the breaker. If you attempt to disconnect the power wires at the panel, you may well wind up shorting it out and damaging the panel, the transformer, or both. The transformer should be relatively close to the panel. Try looking on an adjacent wall. Some installers will fish the power wire down the wall, then bring it out on a wall behind the panel, so that it's not so exposed.

You probably have this field enabled in the panel: Please note, there is a field in panel programming called "Phone Lock". This feature is set to "Off" by default, however, if it is enabled, a panel default will not affect the following settings: account number, dealer code, code length, call wait cancel setting, phone numbers 1 and 2, phone report modes 1 through 4, phone lock, downloader phone number, and downloader code.

@@AlarmGrid NOTE: if you don't close the cover on the back plate before holding down the 4 buttons the tamper switch in the unit won't be closed and it won't reset. Note: In order to perform a factory default, the panel's internal tamper switch must also be held down while the system is being powered back on. As long as the panel is on its backplate correctly, then the internal tamper switch will also be held down.
