Look at the he faith required to arrive at your belief, but actually be honest.
Don't start from presupposition and cling to statements of atheists, view, study, consider evidence.
It's difficult when others already installed a block in your thinking. When you experience more life, marriage, children, and community, ask the questions of yourself again. Do it for yourself, not for other people or their opinion.

Actually, life on other planets WOULD effect the Christian worldview. Bible says ALL OF CREATION, that's the entire universe, suffered when man fell. Bible says Jesus died for the son's of Adam, other words Adam's off spring, the human race on EARTH. If like existed on another planet then who paid for their sin? Is Jesus planet hopping? Bible teaches God made man on THIS earth, nowhere else. I like Frank but he does have a couple cooky ideas.

Only God knows) God (energy) created the heavens (space) and the Earth (Matter)Evidence for an old Earth is quite strong - Where you do get billions of years is the time it takes for the light from stars to reach Earth - We know the speed of light and can calculate it. Hello. I was wondering why you still choose to be Christian even though there are contradictions in the Bible. There are so many of them, and yet it only takes one to disprove the entire Bible. I know many can be explained away, but others simply cannot. The biggest contradiction, in my opinion, deals with the very core of Christianity. God’s love. Some verses says that he loves everyone, earnestly wishing that everyone would be saved. Others however, says that he does not and the Bible goes so far as to say that he only loves the elect (which is the few) and that the vast majority of people he predestined to go to hell.
Verses that prove God DOESN’T love everyone:
    John 15:16, Acts 15:17-18, Romans 9:11,
    1 Thessalonians 1:4, Proverbs 16:9,
    Romans 9:15-23, Acts 13:48, Romans 9:21-23
Verses that prove God DOES love everyone:
    John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 4:8,
    Romans 11:32, 1 John 2:2
And if somehow you have an answer, then my next question is, if God loves everyone (in any way, shape or form) then why did he create people he KNEW would end up in hell. Is he an evil god that loves to watch people burn?
Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

Well, apparently Frank is unaware that it takes zero faith to be an atheist. Atheism is a lack of belief in the existence of God or gods, not a belief that you can have faith in. Atheism is usually based on the failure of theists to meet the burden of proof. Just like it takes zero faith to lack belief in the existence of Krishna or Thor, since there is no evidence for them, it takes zero faith to lack belief in the existence of Yahweh.

How do you know that? I am not asking if you believe it. Obviously you believe it is true or you would not have taken the time to comment, but why? What is the argument the reason behind your belief or is it merely an opinion based on nothing at all?

In fact I would agree with you; nothing cannot exist....My position would be that if nothing was possible we would still be in that state. Clearly we are here, the universe is here so it makes no sense to say at any point there was nothing. However we do know that the universe cannot be eternal. Science states that as a testable provable fact.... That's why and where we get the laws of thermal dynamics. They are not arrived at by faith or experiences they stand on solid scientific ground.....
We also know by observation that the universe at one point did not exist. If you're having difficulty with that you're not alone it was a hotly contested view not very long ago but beliefs and opinions while they may feel very real and important to the person holding them are not grounds for holding a position.
It is certain that at one time in the past the material universe came into being...
One could argue expansion and contraction repeatedly, though again I would ask based on what? There is simply no reasonable argument to support that hypothesis, however even were it true at some point in the past you get to a beginning. There you find logically based on the science that nothing physical exists.
So we have your original position that there is no such thing as nothing and science concluding if it’s honest about the observations, there was a material beginning. A thing according to the laws of thermal dynamics that cannot be explained by material means and what are you left with?
That is one of the reasons people conclude God must be. There is also the fact that information always and only comes from mind, and it is information that formed the universe. That is apparent everywhere you look.
There are the witnesses that gave their lives to be witnesses, some of them actually hostile toward the positions they eventfully gave their lives defending. Why? Sure we have martyrs today, radicals that hold a belief they are willing to kill and die for. Where did they come by this belief? Were they witnesses, or converts? That's why I asked you how why you made the statement you made...people can believe a thing quite powerfully but how they came to it is what matters. The witnesses were not acting based on something they had been taught but something they claimed to have seen...Was I there for the beginning of the universe ...no were you ...no. We are not witnesses but these men claimed to be. Why don't you believe them? Again is it merely an opinion? Yours or someone else's?
There are the fulfilled prophecies recorded well before the events; even within your own life time or that of your parents, that we know were recorded thousands of years before or the discoveries in science that were again recorded thousands of years ahead of the knowledge being gained through science. One is that God stretched out the heavens, an expanding universe we only realized in the last century. There are many others noted. Now the quran in contrast some would say the holy quran states that the sun sets in a warm muddy pool of water..... That would be an example of what men come up with as an explanation left to their own devices... Mohammad directed that if a fly lands in your food you should dip it completely as one wing holds the disease and the other the cure....We also have great men of science such as Hawking who said where we have the law of gravity the universe can and will create itself. This as the quran was hailed as wondrous revelation by the masses... I wish I could have asked him where the law without the gravity came from and by what means a law could create or cause creation? Sam Harris also greatly celebrated claims something quite intricate having to do with the multiverse an unobserved untestable belief unexplained in terms of its being except that it will allow a material beginning as an explanation. So if you have nothing over here and you want something take something from over there...wait where did you get that stop interrupting......what does this prove? It proves Sam believes the material universe we experience came into being.....not that he has a clue how, but that he is convinced it did.
There are also the experiences of millions around the world though sure many of those are suspect. Many are testified to by extremely intelligent highly respected persons...people who never gain a thing and often risk even their life, who in the end are to a degree making your very point....according to their experience this is the truth and you would certainly feel I think it was fair to ask them to examine that belief and defend it. Which if there is a cost I think they must have....even so all men live by the beliefs they hold. Is it reasonable to suggest based on opinion yours are the truth? I would say no....every man is bound by honor and reason to seek truth.
      Do you agree?
there is no such thing as nothing
      how do you know that?

Faith united with the testimony of many people over a span of 100 years. Any historical event requires some faith in believing the truth of it. I can either believe that George Washington was a real person or totally made up based upon the sources that are used to argue the proof of his existence. The resurrection is not just a myth, but it has been tested and verified by many intellectual people over the centuries and has been concluded to be a rational belief. The best claim against it is to find the remains or the body of Christ. The tomb was reported as empty by both the followers of Christ as well as His enemies. This is why they fought so hard to cover up the truth for so long and continued to threaten the Apostles. Despite those threats, the Apostles were forever changed after seeing the risen Christ and they were willing to face death to claim the truth of the event. Many people will die for what they feel is true, but not as many are willing to die for something that is a total fabrication. To have over 10 men, who ran away when Jesus was arrested, die for their faith without any recanting and to see Jesus' younger brother James, who began as a skeptic, come to faith after seeing the risen Christ shows very strong evidence of the proof for such a claim.

      >"Being an atheist means lack of faith." -- Nope; the Greek word for knowledge was gnosis, so an agnostic is one who does not believe. the Greek word for one who believes in God is theist (derived from the Greek theos or theoi meaning "god" or "gods"), so an atheist is one who doesn't believe in God.
