Misty, I enjoyed your video very much. I spent 15-plus years in the medical field in Nashville, TN. and had the privilege of caring for Miss Loretta and her brother Willie. I can share a story that wouldn't be unethical for me to share. All of the siblings including Loretta, Crystal, and Peggy stayed during the duration of Willie's hospital stay. As children, they had made a pact to take care of each other when they would be sick. During their brother's stay with us, they did just that. From taking turns sleeping on the couch overnight so he would never be alone, to bathing him. One day when I came in the room all of his sisters were present. He asked me to pick up a can of food his sisters had gifted him. The can said "Rattlesnake meat". When I picked it up the whole can made a rattling sound and shook...scared me bad. They all broke out in laughter when I yelped and dropped the prank can on the floor.... and laughed harder when a fake snake jumped from the can! They were all pleasant rascals. Quite a few years later Miss Loretta was my patient again for a procedure. She actually remembered me and recalled the snake story. Loretta Lynn was genuine, humble, and always gracious. I found this to be true of the entire talented/gifted family. I've never visited her homeplace but your post was a bit emotional for me as well. Thank you for sharing.

Coal!! I'm watching as I type this. I'll watch it again later when Gavin gets home cause he's gonna wanna see it too. I just couldn't wait! 🙂 I remember that movie so very well too and many scenes clearly. She was a true pioneer for women in music and helped so many others on their way. She's forever the sweetheart of country music. I have loved hearing personal stories from others about her. Tanya Tucker said every time I would chat with her on the phone Loretta would ask "do you need any money honey?" Tanya would say," no darlin I'm good and I also know she'd give it if I said yes." She was generous and always thinking of others.

Hi Misty, It’s hard for me to convey just how meaningful the video of your trip to Butcher Holler means to me! My Mama was a huge Loretta Lynn fan. Country music filled our home from the time I was a little girl (60+ years ago). My 2011 Christmas gift to her was tickets to Loretta’s concert early 2012. When she opened the envelope and realized what it was, she jumped up and down squealing! We had such a great time at the concert and at 75; Mama said it was one of the best times she ever had! Out of the blue in May of 2012, she was diagnosed with stage 4 non smoker lung cancer and she went to heaven on November 2nd. And now 10+ years later, seeing how happy she was opening the gift and going to the concert is a very special and treasured memory❤️. I could never imagine it would be my last Christmas with her, but I’m glad it was a special one for us both❤️. I love your enthusiasm and watching your videos. You were so kind to auction a pink glass bird I sent to you for cancer awhile ago. God bless you and you’re family!

Bless your Heart Misty!! My husband and I visited there 3 years ago. I started crying at the GS. My grandfather was a coal miner in PA. They lived in a company house till my grandparents death. As a little girl I always remember seeing his coal miner hat and bucket. When we went to visit them. Now that little town is full of boney (sp) piles and smells of coal. He died of black lung which so many did back then. So happy you enjoyed it there. 🥰

I’ve been to Butcher Hollar & absolutely loved it!. When I was there 8-9 years ago there was a deli in the store where you first stopped. I was fortunate enough to have Loretta’s daughter, Cissy Lynn, make me a turkey sandwich. I think I spoke to her for over an hour & I was just as giddy as you are in this video. My father is who turned me onto Loretta Lynn & I grew up, only listening to country music, in fact, it’s all I listen to this day. Fun fact, my stepfather used to be a back up singer for George Jones. He sang on the “she stopped loving him today” hit. They remained lifelong friends. I never got to meet him, but I did speak to him on the phone one time. There’s something about country music legends that just give me goosebumps. They are truly legends. Thank you so much. Misty & Mark for taking us on this tour with you. Even though I’ve been there, it was only one time & I would absolutely love to go back. ❤❤

When Connie was talking about the original cane ladderback chairs put a smile on my face I have one just like it. It was made by my great x 3 grandfather and it sits in my living room. My fathers family of 12 was from Hickory holler in Tn we went to the home he grew up in back in the mid 90's and it was still standing.

Misty thank you very much for sharing this video. I’ve been a Loretta Lynn fan since she was first on the radio in the 60s. I’ve been a country music fan for 60+ years. I have been to Hurricane Mills in TN but never to Butcher Holler. My maiden name is Lynn so who knows Doo could be related to my family. I know somewhere along the line someone did live in KY and lots of the Lynn’s from my family live or lived in the Celina, TN area which is close to KY.
Anyway, the tour through Loretta’s home did bring tears to my eyes. I also love history and antiques. Each piece of furniture has history in it. If you have never been to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville you should go. I’ve been there twice and could probably sit in there on the pews nearly all day. It’s a sacred place to me.
    Thank you very much!!

GAIL HERE ! Misty, I was raised in North Georgia . Born in 1952 and I didn't attend a church with a steeple till I got married . Back then country Baptist and others looked just like that little school house . I went to a big brick school and the town churches were brick , but not the country ones . The South was dirt poor after the WAR ! I was raised on Rock and Roll cause I had much older siblings . My parents just listened to gospel . I really loved The Beatles , but I liked Patsy Cline . She was played on rock stations like Hank Williams . I was 11 when she died . So sad .

I have that exact Singer sewing machine...My Paternal Grandmother had it originally. After her death, my Dad got it and my Mom used it to make clothes for me and my sister on it. I learned to sew when I was 12 using that same machine back in 1972. Betty
