- The first Abercrombie & Fitch store opened in 1892! Turns out the version we know today is very different from the original concept of the store. Here's a brief history of the OLD Abercrombie & Fitch.
My mom who was born in 1932 had an aunt who worked at Abercrombie. All her clothes came from there growing up. TR bought all his hunting gear there, but you’re probably going to mention that
You should do more of a in depth history of the store.I liked that chess set you showed.
Do you mean like more about what they sold?
@@MichaelDJ68 yes.Dealing with the early history of the store up.Then going into depth of how they started to appeal to teens.
The death of David was pretty sad in regards to the horse accident, cover a story on Dare to Dream Ranch in Johnston Rhode Island if you can and how that relates to Ruehl no925 Clothing by The Agency, which connects to the companies position on Naloxone Education, Chess and The Rhino 🦏 Plush 🧸always be equine smart and wear a helmet 🦐 🪖⛑️
I love the out of place hispanic music in the background
The brand destroyed itself due to caving to diversity. I worked for them 2003-2005, that was the beginning when people starting complaining about the company not being diverse enough. The regional manager at the time said they we had to hire people who were not white and were not typical Abercrombie types ( which just meant, not attractive). So we did that and we actually had sales go down bc a lot of people came in literally to see the attractive employees. The clothes were actually good quality and looked nice imo but the major draw was the image of very attractive people.
The Bel Ami fashion brigade of hairless men of European-descent was pretty blatant. The rejection of employees who didn't match the shallow "skin job" aesthetic of the brand resulted in lawsuits which revealed the true nature of the organization's leaders.
Yes...that's what the documentary, WHITE HEAT, is all about. It's interesting how it all went down.
I remember seeing a couple of those guns on display at their NYC flagship store back in 2014, though it was targeted to a younger demographic they kept the original’s history.
Yeah, that New York 5th Ave store has a stronger nod to the old days with the big murals of guys working out, but they certainly don't sell sports gear anymore.
