Tim, after collecting tons of beautiful premium Bibles in many sizes and translations, I am very surprised to discover that my NKJV Pitt Minion is becoming my favorite every-day reading Bible. I never would have guessed this would happen! In fact, as I’ve tried to discipline myself to read through the whole Bible in a year, I’m finding that the PM is the easiest one for me to stick with and make progress - to keep reading for hours, and even read ahead. I now expect to read through the Bible twice this year. Funny how you can obsess with a certain size or style you think will become a favorite, and the one you never seriously considered takes first place! The nice thing is, since it’s super small, it is easy to travel with. And being a fan of Sarah Westlake’s Harris Tweed covers, I’ve got a very small herringbone one on order for my PM. It will be quite snug and discrete, and make quite a handsome accessory.
Thanks for your review of the Cambridge Pitt Minion Bible. I have two of them. I purchased my first one in the KJV in June 1963. It has travelled halfway around the world with me. Most recently I picked up a Pitt Minion in the NKJV. I'm pleased to say Cambridge quality remains exceptional.
Thank you for another great video. The first Bible i bought four years ago .. when i was saved out of the new age, was a NLT Bible. Now i use other translations as well, but the NLT will always be speciel to me.
Another great video! I have a Schuyler Quentel PSQ and want a Pitt but worried about type font size; they are about font size indifference. Plus, how many Bible does this guy need? :-) That said, I am getting a Pitt based on your review.
You can never have too many Bibles! That said, the Pitt Minions have concordances (yay!) but the Schuyler PSQ’s do not (boo!). Also, I have found that if I wear my eyeglasses and I’m in adequate light, then the small font in the Pitt Minion is no problem at all. A great Bible for church carry - highly recommended!
Hello Pastor Tim, Do all NLT Pitt Minions come only in 2007 edition? I got one recently but it is a 2007 NLT edition. I was wondering if indeed there's a 2015 NLT edition because I'm looking for one. And is there any difference in paper and printing for all Pitt Minion cover editions? Like for example I got mine in imitation leather, is there any difference in paper and printing when compared with goat skin or calf split leather editions? Good question! I'm pretty sure that Cambridge has not published any NLT editions since the 2015 update was released. As far as the paper goes, the text blocks usually get printed at the same time regardless of which binding they will get, so the paper should be consistent.
I dont want to come of rude at all. I'm just really surprised that people would invest so much money on bibles in the NLT? I see you have a few of them too. It's not a good translation at all.
I strongly disagree. While the NLT is not my goto version, I find that it helps to clarify many scriptural passages from other versions. This is particularly true of Paul's epistles which can be difficult to understand in any translation - even the NIV! The NLT makes Paul's letters much easier to understand, and it is a joy to read - no matter OT or NT.
While maybe not ideal for extremely in depth word study, I think it’s a really solid translation and really good for daily reading and devotional time. My journey started with a NLT gifted from my pastor

I have a brown goatskin NLT Pitt Minion and I was surprised how much I actually like the NLT translation. I find it a solid easy to read translation.

I wish they’d make a version without references. Just a reader with footnotes. Then the font size could be increased.

My understanding is that the goatskin NLT Pitt Minions are now out of print, so you'll need to search for a used one.

I've heard that the NLT is good to use as a companion with other versions, but not so much as a main version.
